The time has finally come - I must sell my 1992 Saturn SL2!

You can tell by my username that I loved the Saturn S-series cars.

This is a great example of a classic Saturn, I'd really like to see this go to someone who appreciates Saturns.

Details:

1992 Saturn SL2 1.9L DOHC Engine

Automatic Transmission

Power Windows/Door Locks/Sunroof - all working!

AC - needs to be re-charged, but works fine when charged

15 inch alloy wheels with newer matching tires

Medium Red/Silver Exterior with Gray Interior - Saturn only made about 1,100 of the two-tones over a 3 year period

Issues/Quirks:

Odometer is broken @ 247,000 miles (like all Saturn S-series before 1995)

Fuel gauge is bouncy while driving, but reads fine when sitting still

A pillar interior trim clips are broken, so trim is loose - again, typical Saturn issue

Headliner on sunroof cover is loose, rest of the headliner is newer and fine

Alternator is not charging the battery - should be replaced

Clearcoat in front bumper/mirrors/rear spoiler is faded

Typical scratches/bumps for a car of this age, but no major damage - please ask me for anything specific

History:

Purchased new at Saturn of Charlotte in North Carolina in December 1991

I purchased it from the 2nd owner (I believe 2nd owner) in November 2006

The car was with me in South Carolina for 1 year (2006 - 2007)

I moved to Michigan in 2007, and the car came with me

This car has never seen snow/salt.  It was garage kept, and only used in the summer.  It was not a daily driver, but leisure car

I entered it in a car show at work last year, I thought I might get made fun of, but a lot of people stopped to comment how cool it was to see a regular older Saturn!

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like specific details/pictures.

I cannot ship the car, it must be picked up in Plymouth, MI.

It's hard for me to let it go, but it's time and I really hope someone else who enjoys Saturns or older cars in general will keep it up!

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

Tue, 17 Aug 2010

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.

Clever video selling Saturn Ion "sex machine" will catch your eye

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

"When I think of the most impressive, industry changing, earth shattering vehicles of recent history, the first car that comes to my mind is the 2004 Saturn Ion Coupe." So says Brad Holt of Dallas, Texas. And he's right, clearly. One look at the specific specimen Holt is selling will be enough to convince you that the car "will absolutely tickle every one of your fancies," as claimed by the seller himself.
We suggest you watch the video below to see just how perfectly Holt's sex machine will fit into your life. The end result will no doubt be exactly as Holt ends his video: "You need it. Like a lot." You can also read more info from Brad in an interview here. If only our offices were a little closer to Dallas...

Recalled Saturn Ion facing separate federal safety probe

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

General Motors may be staring down another recall campaign for one of its models already embroiled in its high-profile ignition recall. The 2003-2007 Saturn Ion is already among the 1.6-million vehicles being recalled for faulty ignition switches, and now new light is being shed on a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation over 2004-2007 models centering on a loss of power steering.
The government safety regulator has received 846 complaints about the problem and claims that GM has had 3,489 reports of failure. Of those cases, there have been 16 accidents and 2 injuries reported, according to Automotive News. While NHTSA has been conducting an investigation since September 2011, no recall has been issued yet.
The inquiry's length was brought to light by an organization called the National Legal and Policy Center that alleges GM and NHTSA have known about the problem but are delaying a recall. It has sent a letter to CEO Mary Barra asking "to recall Saturn Ions for the model years 2004 through 2007 without further delay." The letter in question is available in full on the group's website.
