I purchased this vehicle 5 months ago... this was before finding out the family is expanding and we need a larger SUV that being said we do not want to put any additional money into repairs and are choosing to list approx. $1500-$2000 under blue book value to compensate for that, allowing the next owner to take care of any repair work while still keeping value in the vehicle.

As I said it was purchased approximately 5 months ago and I can only speak to the past 5 months since I have owned it. I will be as transparent as possible so you do not get into a vehicle that you do not expect to have to do a little work with. When I purchased it I was told that it had an air hose leak which is why it would hesitate during shifting and an oil leak which caused the check engine light to sporadically come on. Both of these issues existed however the result from them was untrue. Both oil leak and air hose have been fixed. Check engine light once in my possession was not a sporadic thing but a constant and needed to repaired quick in order to pass inspection. It happened to be an intake manifold leak and is now corrected. It also needed new tires to pass inspection and those were purchased and have only been driven approx. 4000 miles on since.

I did not obtain a carfax prior to purchasing and am unsure what the 2 accidents that the one provided states were. As far as cosmetic this vehicle is in excellent condition. There are no major dents, scratches or rust spots. Exterior is in great condition. Interior just needs to be cleaned.

The specs: v6, power windows, power locks, keyless entry, odometer states 67,000 miles, anti lock breaks, air bags, 6 cd changer with cassette and am/fm radio. Cruise control, air conditioning, seats in back fold down, storage compartment in rear, clean title, no liens/loans. Its your basic small SUV and has pretty good gas mileage.

Like I said I will be as transparent as possible and since I have taken it off the road and did not have a diagnostic done I will do my best to explain exactly what the vehicle does so you can get a good idea of what may need repaired. If you are a mechanic, or know/have a good mechanic I am sure whatever the issue is should be fixable without a problem. First, AC does not blow cold, possible recharge? Second wiper blade in rear does not work, was told needed a new motor approx. $150 including labor. Third turning signal will work 90% of the time but will randomly stop, was told $250 to fix including labor. Last the vehicle will start and run with no problem but sometimes (this is really not an every time occurrence) when placed from park to first it will hesitate. When you push on the gas the vehicle will not move. When it does this it revs the engine then kicks forward finally allowing you to drive freely. When it does this it will then hesitate at stop lights when accelerating etc. When it does not do it from the start it drives just fine. This was a recent development and the main reason I decided to take it off the road and start looking for a larger SUV. As I am not a "car person" I can not really speculate as to what the fix will be.

You are purchasing this vehicle "as-is" and are responsible for pick up. Payment must be made in full within 7 days and deposit required within 48 hours. Any questions please ask prior to bidding.

GM's got 107 problems and NHTSA's No. 1

Thu, Mar 6 2014

General Motors' problems with its recall of roughly 1.6-million vehicles continue to mount. Now that it has emerged that GM knew about the problem since at least 2004 but waited to recall vehicles until February 2014, regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have begun a much deeper investigation. NHTSA has sent a 27-page survey to GM that includes 107 questions about the timeline of what led up to the recall, and it has until April 3 to reply. This isn't a simple, multiple-choice test. Automotive News believes that hundreds of pages could be required to answer some of the queries. NHTSA says that it is still investigating GM's response to the recall. "We are a data-driven organization, and we will take whatever action is appropriate based on where our findings lead us," said NHTSA in a statement on its website. If found liable, the automaker could face a fine as high as $35 million and even possible criminal charges, according to Bloomberg. NHTSA's questions include a detailed explanation of GM's examination process; how it will improve the process; why a planned redesign of the cars' key in 2005 wasn't implemented; and specific data on each complaint it received. According to Bloomberg, NHTSA also has records that show the company had a meeting with regulators to discuss the airbag failure in a Chevrolet Cobalt in 2007. New GM CEO Mary Barra has also hired an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation about what happened. It will include questioning company employees who were involved with the process from the start. The recall stems from faulty ignition switches that shut off the car while driving, and if it occurs the airbags deactivate. Thirteen deaths and 23 crashes have been caused by the problem, according to Bloomberg. If you would like to peruse NHTSA's entire questionnaire for GM, it can be viewed here. Report: GM temporarily restarts Saturn Outlook, Hummer H3 production

Tue, 16 Mar 2010

Saturn Outlook - Click above for high-res image gallery
Even though both the Saturn and Hummer brands are being phased out, General Motors has reportedly revived production of both the Outlook crossover and H3 SUV to meet consumer demands.
Last month, GM assembled 1,037 Outlooks at its Lansing, Michigan facility, which is where the crossover's Lamda platform stablemates (Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia) are built. A spokesperson for GM states that production was reinstated to utilize the rest of the Saturn-specific material at the facility, and that the automaker will continue to assemble the Outlook for a few more weeks.

Are orphan cars better deals?

Wed, Dec 30 2015

Most folks don't know a Saturn Aura from an Oldsmobile Aurora. Those of you who are immersed in the labyrinth of automobilia know that both cars were testaments to the mediocrity that was pre-bankruptcy General Motors, and that both brands are now long gone. But everybody else? Not so much. By the same token, there are some excellent cars and trucks that don't raise an eyebrow simply because they were sold under brands that are no longer being marketed. Orphan brands no longer get any marketing love, and because of that they can be alarmingly cheap. Case in point, take a look at how a 2010 Saturn Outlook compares with its siblings, the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave. According to the Manheim Market Report, the Saturn will sell at a wholesale auto auction for around $3,500 less than the comparably equipped Buick or GMC. Part of the reason for this price gap is that most large independent dealerships, such as Carmax, make it a point to avoid buying cars with orphaned badges. Right now if you go to Carmax's site, you'll find that there are more models from Toyota's Scion sub-brand than Mercury, Saab, Pontiac, Hummer, and Saturn combined. This despite the fact that these brands collectively sold in the millions over the last ten years while Scion has rarely been able to realize a six-figure annual sales figure for most of its history. That is the brutal truth of today's car market. When the chips are down, used-car shoppers are nearly as conservative as their new-car-buying counterparts. Unfamiliarity breeds contempt. Contempt leads to fear. Fear leads to anger, and pretty soon you wind up with an older, beat-up Mazda MX-5 in your driveway instead of looking up a newer Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky. There are tons of other reasons why orphan cars have trouble selling in today's market. Worries about the cost of repair and the availability of parts hang over the industry's lost toys like a cloud of dust over Pigpen. Yet any common diagnostic repair database, such as Alldata, will have a complete framework for your car's repair and maintenance, and everyone from junkyards to auto parts stores to eBay and Amazon stock tens of thousands of parts. This makes some orphan cars mindblowingly awesome deals if you're willing to shop in the bargain bins of the used-car market. Consider a Suzuki Kizashi with a manual transmission. No, really.
