My name is Star. I am a 2001 Saturn SC2. I've had two previous owners - a nice fire fighter from NYC and my current owner, Kristen, who's a grad school student. I have 159,000 miles on me, but don't you dare call me old! It's rude to insult a girl. You might wonder why my name is Star. Well you see, I've been paid to appear in many NYC TV shows. You may have seen me on Law & Order SVU, Blue Bloods or Mercy (which was canceled, though not because of my performance). I am currently looking for a new owner, because Kristen's grad school salary of $0 is too little to keep taking care of me. I've been sold twice on eBay, but neither of those buyers really wanted me, so they never came to take me home. I am dark green and I have an awesome roof rack that Kristen used to move tons of things!! I've moved a full size bed, a dining room, surfboards, bikes, and more! I am so strong!!! I need two new tires and my inspection is due at the end of February. I also have a check engine light on, but my doctor said that it's normal for that light to be on in ladies of my age, and that it could be the sensor on the light itself. He assures us it is nothing to worry about, and as a licensed/respected mechanic in the Bay Ridge neighborhood, he would be willing to tell you all about me too if you would like. Kristen really has done an excellent job taking care of me since 2009. She gets my oil changed as scheduled, and always makes sure if I get sick, I am immediately taken to the doctor to be repaired. Some things she's repaired include my intake manifold, my air conditioning system, my transmission, my starter, my brakes (though my break lines could probably use a good cleaning and flushing so the brakes don't have to be pressed so far down even though they are new), several new exhaust pipes, new wiring throughout, many new belts and hoses and more. She has kept receipts for everything and will be happy to pass those on to you. Cosmetically, I recently got two new headlights and side mirrors. Living in NYC is tough and I've had some incidents with neighbors. Once a man parked on top of me, because I sit a bit low to the ground, and when Kristen came out of school, she found my hood dented and no note. She also found that this neighbor damaged my front bumper slightly. You can see this damage in the photos below. I was also parked in Bay Ridge one weekend and someone side swiped me in the middle of the night. I have a little crack from that incident as well, which you can see in the photo. The last thing is that I have a small crack in my windshield from the snowstorm of 2012, but it's not large enough to need replaced or to cause me to fail inspection. Well, I think that's it about me for now. I am looking for a new home immediately and am ready to get away from all these Bay Ridge folks. Let me know if you would like to meet me and potentially take me home. Below is a review and all technical specs, from theautochannel.com. You can call Kristen at 412-480-5838. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturn SC2 Three-Door Coupe (2001) SEE ALSO: Saturn Buyer's Guide by Carey Russ Coupes run from serious (and usually seriously expensive) performance machinery to economical vehicles with more flair than the average sedan. Coupes are cars for people who don't usually need to haul other people and lots of equipment around, and so hold the driver and one to three other passengers. Expensive, fast sports coupes rarely are used for such mundane tasks as commuting and shopping. Inexpensive, economical coupes are, however, very well-suited for such real-world tasks. Saturn's SC coupe is more "sporty" than "sports," especially when equipped with an automatic transmission. But it has its own distinctive style, revised this year, and offers more practicality than any other coupe thanks to its standard third door. The Saturn coupe's third door is a wonderful idea. Much like the rear doors now available on many extended-cab pickups, it is a rear-hinged panel that can only be used if the front door is open. It's on the driver's side of the car, an illogical spot for passenger access, but perfect for loading the small to medium items like coats or briefcases that often are tossed over or crunched behind the front seat of a coupe. And it works well for passengers, too, especially when the car is parked in a driveway. Saturn has done a good job of refining its small sedans, wagons, and coupes over the years. The SC coupes have been restyled for the 2001 model year. More importantly, the interior design is also much improved. The 2001 Saturn SC2 is a stylish and vehicle with more comfort and practicality than is expected from a small coupe. APPEARANCE: "Saturn swoosh" is the official description of the coupe's shape. Thanks to the Saturn space-frame structure, a major chassis redesign is not necessary when changing body panels. This is good, because nearly all of the 2001 Saturn coupe's body panels except for the passenger cabin and roof have been restyled. It's a Saturn, so all of the vertical panels are still dent, ding, and corrosion-resistant polymer, for peace of mind in parking lots. The result is a futuristic shape, but discernibly a Saturn. A bold character line running on each side from the air intake to the top of the tail emphasizes the coupe's wedge-shaped profile. The headlights and unadorned intake give character to the front. Their styling is completely new, and more rounded than before, but still very reminiscent of the front styling of the first Saturn sedan. The coupe could be described, by other car companies, as more aggressive-looking, but "aggressive" and "Saturn" together? No chance, it's too friendly. COMFORT: The major Saturn improvements over the years have been to the interior. This makes sense, considering that most people spend more time driving their cars than looking at them. The SC has reasonable interior space for a coupe of its size, and the third door helps make it very useful. It helps passenger access, and is great for tossing packages, jackets, or whatever in the rear seat. It makes that much easier and safer than throwing possibly breakable things over the seatback. The front passenger seat is spring-loaded, and so slides forward easily for off-side passenger access. The coupe's interior was redesigned last year, and has a more mainstream, integrated design than was found in previous Saturns. The separate central pod holding the climate control and audio systems is gone, replaced by controls incorporated into the central part of a one-piece molding. The Saturn coupe's seats are well-designed and comfortable, and may be had with leather upholstery. Small touches including automatically-dimming "theater" interior lighting and a standard CD player add an upscale feeling to the SC2. SAFETY: The 2001 Saturn SC2 has a sturdy steel spaceframe chassis with front and rear crush zones, dual reduced-force airbags, an engine- immobilizing antitheft system, and available head curtain side air bags. ROADABILITY: The SC2 is more "sporty" than "sports," but is nimble and entertaining to drive. It's also small enough to fit easily into tight parking spaces. The "swoosh" styling benefits more than the looks, as the good aerodynamic shape has low levels of wind noise and good stability in strong winds. Improvements to soundproofing over the years have made Saturns much quieter. PERFORMANCE: The SC2 uses the dual-overhead cam version of Saturn's 1.9-liter inline four-cylinder engine. Its 124 horsepower and 122 lb-ft of torque are an improvement over the SC1 single overhead cam engine's 100 hp and 114 lb-ft. My test car had the four-speed automatic transmission, the logical choice for a sporty-but-practical urban runabout and commute vehicle. The automatic does absorb some power compared to the five-speed manual gearbox, but makes traffic less unbearable. Acceleration is quick enough so merging and passing are not problems. CONCLUSIONS: Continuous refinement has kept the Saturn SC2 coupe contemporary. GM appears to repurpose Saturn Outlook parts on new Acadia
Thu, 09 Feb 2012General Motors unveiled the company's refreshed GMC Acadia at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show yesterday, and if you were paying attention, you may have noticed something curious about the vehicle. While the new Acadia looks considerably better than its predecessor, a few components of the design looked more than a little familiar. Upon closer observation, it appears that GM has simply repurposed elements of the now defunct Saturn Outlook crossover on the 2013 Acadia. Both vehicles seem to share the same wrap-around rear glass, back hatch, tail light openings and exaggerated, squared-off fender arches.
While the vehicles are differentiated by badging, tail lamps and a rear valance, there's no denying the similarities toward the vehicle's rear. Up front, both share similar fenders, though adjustments have been made for the varying headlight designs.
That's good news if you just can't imagine life without the Saturn Outlook.
VIDEO: Saturn's demise? We blame Jim Gaffigan*

When the deal to sell Saturn to Penske Automotive fell through, there were likely a lot of surprised people at General Motors' Detroit, MI headquarters. Penske released a statement saying that the reason the deal fell through after months of good faith negotiations was that a suitable post-GM supply of vehicles could not be found. However, after reacquainting ourselves with over eight minutes of outtakes from Jim Gaffigan's old Saturn commercial, we're thinking the comedic pitchman is to blame.
Cars with the most reckless drivers are full of surprises
Wed, Oct 13 2021Insurify is a site for comparing auto insurance quotes. Because insurance shoppers need to submit information like the vehicles they're driving and the infractions they've compiled while driving those vehicles, Insurify has quite the database of correlations tying certain models to a habit of breaking certain laws. When the site's data analysts decided to compile a list of the top ten models for reckless driving citations in the decade from 2010 to 2019, the ranking contained a few wild entries. The Dodge Challenger making the countdown will surprise precisely zero people. But the Saturn L200? First, a definition: USLegal.com defines reckless driving as "driving with a willful or wanton disregard for safety. It is the operation of an automobile under such circumstances and in such a manner as to show a willful or reckless disregard of consequences." So this list is a caution about particular drivers more than the cars. For a baseline, according to Insurify data, for any random model, 15 out of 10,000 people who drive that model have picked up one citation for reckless driving. Back to that Challenger, then. No shocker for being here, but it's actually number 10, with 44 out of 10,000 Challenger drivers nabbed for a willful disregard of consequences on the road. That's better than the first surprise entry, the Saturn L200, a sedan only on sale for six years, with the least horsepower on the list, and out of production since 2005. The data set put drivers of GM's extraterrestrial sedan at 45 reckless pilots per 10,000 drivers. There are two pickups on the list, the only modern one being the Ram 1500 at eighth, with a rate of 46 in 10,000. Somehow, drivers of the third-best-selling pickup in the U.S. outrun the overwhelming numerical superiority of the best-selling vehicle in the States, the Ford F-150. The other pickup is the Chevrolet K1500 at number five, with a rate of 56 in 10,000. This is not only the oldest vehicle on the list, it went out of production in 2002, before any other vehicle on the list. Between the trucks, the Volkswagen CC slotted in at seven with 47 in 10,000 reckless driving chits, the Cadillac ATS slipped into sixth with 48 in 10,000. The top four is a bag of unexpected. The Nissan 370Z is the first hardcore sports car on the list at number four, with 61 in 10,000 Z drivers flaunting their Fairladys in the face of Johnny Law.
