This listing is for a 2003 Saturn L200 4-door Sedan with automatic transmissions. Leatherette seats; premium stereo system with 6-disc CD changer; power moon-roof; power windows and power doors; with cruise control. Safety features include anti-block brakes and driver's and passenger airbags. This car is in very good condition for its age. The mileage is high but it's mostly highway. The car received all the scheduled oil changes, and was always kept in a garage. Very clean inside and out (smoke-free). A few very minor scratches here and there, but the only noticeable cosmetic damage is a small circular dent on the front bumper. The car drives great, everything works, although the AC may need a freon charge which is available from Jiffy Lube. This car has been very reliable for me and would make a great commuter car or student's car. I am selling it because I am upgrading to a premium car. The car is located in Old Town Alexandria, just a few blocks from the nearest Metro station. The Kelly' Blue Book private seller value for this car is about $2700, and more than $3000 from a dealer. Saturn Ion steering probe closed by NHTSA
Tue, 22 Apr 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has closed its investigation into faulty electric power steering motors affecting 334,728 Saturn Ions from 2004-2007, because General Motors has issued a recall for them. The group's research found that the part failed at a high rate in the vehicles.
GM recalled over 1.3 million vehicles a few weeks ago, including the Ion, because the power steering could suddenly fail. If broken, the cars could still turn, but it took greater effort. The automaker is also covering 96,324 2003 Ions with a lifetime warranty for their motors, but it's not immediately replacing them.
NHTSA opened its investigation into the motors in September 2011, and it found 4,787 complaints and 30,560 warranty claims that showed failure for the Ion alone. It estimated a complaint rate of 14.3 incidents per 1,000 vehicles and warranty claim rate of 9.1 percent. The investigation also found evidence of 12 crashes caused by loss of steering, two of which resulted in injuries.
GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles
Tue, 06 Aug 2013General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected
