I am selling my Saab 9000 CS. Please note: it is being listed for parts or repair since it has several large issues.
As far as I know I am the second owner other then the dealer that sold it to me, and I have had it for six years, and it has been a fun car to drive.
It now needs lots of work and it isn't cost effective for me to have all the issues repaired. I'm listing it because another Saab enthusiast might be
interested in it for the parts, or have the time and skills to repair it. I would prefer that to seeing it sold and crushed for scrap. The low starting price
reflects this.  It is currently sitting in my driveway, and it does start and run. It has always started even in the winter or after sitting for months
in the summer while we were on vacation. The motor sounds good and runs strong. The transmission is okay, but like many of these 9000's will occasionally have
shifting issues. I just drove it the 30 miles from the repair shop home and it ran great, with no issues. The major problem is the brakes, and the
main reason I'm now selling it. They are worn out and need to be totally redone. I would drive it, but probably it should be trailered or towed for safety reasons.

Here are the problems that I am aware of: Bad brakes (the repair shop gave me an estimate of $1,200 for parts and repairs) he did find that all the parts are
available. There is a crack in the windshield, the right front panel is damaged (the work of a new driver) I do have a good used replacement light to replace the broken
one with. Small rust patches and scrapes in a few spots--see pictures of the major ones. The AC no longer works, but the heat works fine. The front tires have good tread,
the back tires are fairly new with more tread. Heck, I just filled it up with gas before taking it into the shop to be checked and that is worth the $50 alone.

I've attached many photos of the car and details of the various issues. Please contact me if you want others or additional information. Do not bid unless you are
prepared to pay the first $200 with Paypal within three days of the end of the auction.
I hold a clear Illinois title for the car. After you have won and paid, I will
gladly hold the car for as long as needed until you are able to pick it up.

Saab's latest Chinese owners facing their own credit woes

Sat, 16 Aug 2014

Poor Saab, it can't seem to get a break. General Motors couldn't seem to make a go of it, neither could Spyker, and now it seems that its latest owner is encountering some problems of its own.
That owner, of course, is National Electric Vehicle Sweden, a Swedish holding company owned by Chinese investors. NEVS recently restarted production at the Saab plant in Trollhättan, Sweden, and had some ambitious plans for the brand's revival, but it appears to have run out of cash.
This according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, which discovered that NEVS is having trouble paying its suppliers. One such supplier, called Labo Test, has reportedly been owed some $22,000 by NEVS since February, and without payment, petitioned the Swedish government to place NEVS into bankruptcy proceedings. If that seems a little extreme to you over twenty-two grand, it would seem the parties agree, as the petition has reportedly since been withdrawn.

Boeing, Saab take first flight in T-X trainer 36 months after starting development

Wed, Dec 21 2016

This post is appearing on Autoblog Military, Autoblog's sub-site dedicated to the vehicles, aircraft and ships of the world's armed forces. Bringing a new fighter from drawing board to its first flight is generally a lengthy endeavor, taking years of planning and tweaking and engineering. Or, at least it normally does. Boeing and Saab just took their new joint-developed training fighter, the T-X, out for its first spin just 36 months after starting development. According to Saab's deputy program manager for the T-X, Eddy De la Motte, that's half the time it usually takes to get a new jet in the sky. "We went from [critical design review] to first flight in 12 months. We don't do that very much at the Boeing Company," Boeing's program manager for the T-X, Ted Torgerson told Defense News. "I don't want to say it has not been done, but for a manned aircraft to go through a complete production-ready design, that is as fast and as efficient as we've ever been through it." Boeing/Saab's first test flight was a simple, 55-minute matter for Boeing test pilots Steven Schmidt and Dan Draeger. The pair took the plane up to 10,000 feet and hit speeds of 231 knots (265 miles per hour) while running handling checks on the twin-tail, single-engine jet. "I've been a part of this team since the beginning, and it was really exciting to be the first to train and fly," pilot Schmidt said. "The aircraft met all expectations. It's well designed and offers superior handling characteristics. The cockpit is intuitive, spacious and adjustable, so everything is within easy reach." "It was a smooth flight and a successful test mission," Draeger, who rode shotgun in the instructor's seat said in an official release. "I had a great all-around view throughout the flight from the instructor's seat, which is critical during training." Boeing/Saab's T-X is one of four jets competing for the role as the US military's next training aircraft. Northrop Grumman is fielding a clean-sheet design that allegedly flew earlier this year, while Lockheed Martin and Raytheon are modifying existing designs with partners – the South Korean KAI T-50 for Lockheed and the Leonardo M-346 for Raytheon. NEVS to build new Saab models in China's Qingdao

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

National Electric Vehicle Sweden has officially signed a deal with Qingdao Qingbo Investment Company that will see the NEVS build EVs in Qingdao, China. The move is the first step on the road toward eventually selling vehicles in China. Reuters reports that the Chinese company has agreed to invest $307.33 million, after which point Qingdao Qingbo will receive 22 percent of the NEVS shares. Currently, there's no word on exactly when the funds and shares will change hands, but the Swedish automaker has previously said it fully intends to launch its first EV by early 2014.
NEVS has also made waves about potentially building a version of the old Saab 9-3 with a traditional internal combustion driveline. Currently, the manufacturer says it plans to ship the vehicles it builds in Sweden to the Qingdao port and distribute them to the rest of China from there. Later down the line, a manufacturing facility in Qingdao will supply the country with Chinese-built Saab models.
