Very rare (100 brought in to U.S.) 1997 Saab 900 SE 2.0 Turbo Convertible in Monte Carlo Yellow. This car is virtually flawless. Everything works perfectly, it runs and looks new. It has brand new Michelin tires, Bilstein HP shocks and struts, new brakes. It has been run on Mobil 1 synthetic oil since new. All fluids just changed, including synthetic transmission oil. Power steering, brake fluid, and coolant flushed. I had a Taliafiarro 6 point subframe brace installed to help stiffen the body and prevent body roll. I also added Flowmaster dual exhaust tips, polished 301 stainless steel with rolled tips. The convertible top is also like new, goes up and down perfectly and without hesitation or noise. Top treated with RaggTop conditioner regularly. Interior is black leather. I intended to keep this car for good, which is why I went completely through it, but circumstances have changed, and I need a big car, likely a Saab 9-5 or Saab Combi. (If you have a big car you might like to trade, send me an e-mail. European cars preferred, but might consider something else if it's big, and well-maintained) It has been cared for meticulously, and it shows. The Saab convertibles in Monte Carlo Yellow are extremely rare, and becoming very collectible. The value on them has been rising steadily. (NADA doesn't take note of color and submodels like Talladega etc., so the NADA value is not an accurate guide for certain models/colors such as this one) The car draws attention and raves everywhere it goes, people just love it! It has the original Saab AM-FM-Weather Band-Cassette-CD player with amplifiers and 6 disc CD changer. I replaced the speakers as it had the original speakers. They sounded OK, but were getting tired, so I replaced all of them. The sound is really good. The spoke type wheels currently on the car are from a late model Saab 9-3, but it will also come with the original 3 point Saab wheels shown in some of the photos. Also included are 3 functional remotes. If you're looking for a well-built car that is an attention-getter, fun to drive, needs absolutely nothing, and will become more valuable over time, this one may be for you. Saab owners NEVS denied creditor protection by Swedish court

Thu, 28 Aug 2014

The story of Saab is practically a Greek tragedy at this point. The quirky Swedish automaker that was once known as a pioneer of affordable turbocharging has been followed by years of news that just seemed to keep getting worse. At this point, maybe the brand name should be allowed to fade away into the ether and be remembered for the good times that it gave us.
Saab's latest predicament is that its parent National Electric Vehicle Sweden (or NEVS) has been denied protection from its creditors by the Swedish courts. According to Reuters, the judges called the business' financing plan "vague and completely undocumented." A company spokesperson told Reuters that it plans to appeal.
Seemingly in reaction to the court's decision, NEVS posted a press release on its website announcing that the company had applied "for a reorganization to create more time for the ongoing negotiations." The automaker continues to claim that it's negotiating with two global automakers to sell a portion of the company, possibly Mahindra, but the process is taking longer than it originally predicted. It seems a distinct possibility that this reorganization attempt is simply a way to buy extra time.

Son surprises mom with her dream car, a 1973 Saab 99

Wed, Aug 13 2014

Often, it feels like the news is just a never-ending stream of one depressing headline after another. It can be so liberating to see something positive and uplifting every once in a while. Just look at the ecstatic expression on this mother's face after receiving her dream car from her son. Mom has some seriously quirky taste too: she isn't after a muscle car or a two-seat droptop; instead, it's a 1973 Saab 99 EMS in a very '70s shade of copper at the top of her wish list. According to the video, it took her son about a year to track down this hunk of Swedish steel and save up the money to purchase it. Though, judging from his mom's reaction, it was worth every penny. She puts together what's going on with the Saab pretty quickly and immediately starts swearing at her son – out of love, of course. If you're feeling a little blue, consider this a much-needed pick-me-up. Watching the unbridled joy of someone getting something that they always wanted just feels wonderful.

Saab's latest Chinese owners facing their own credit woes

Sat, 16 Aug 2014

Poor Saab, it can't seem to get a break. General Motors couldn't seem to make a go of it, neither could Spyker, and now it seems that its latest owner is encountering some problems of its own.
That owner, of course, is National Electric Vehicle Sweden, a Swedish holding company owned by Chinese investors. NEVS recently restarted production at the Saab plant in Trollhättan, Sweden, and had some ambitious plans for the brand's revival, but it appears to have run out of cash.
This according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, which discovered that NEVS is having trouble paying its suppliers. One such supplier, called Labo Test, has reportedly been owed some $22,000 by NEVS since February, and without payment, petitioned the Swedish government to place NEVS into bankruptcy proceedings. If that seems a little extreme to you over twenty-two grand, it would seem the parties agree, as the petition has reportedly since been withdrawn.
