1994 Saab 900 Turbo Commemorative Edition

Offered for auction is this limited edition 1994 Saab 900 Turbo Commemorative Edition.

These were some of the best and last of the classic 900s sold by Saab. This model had some unique features including a Nova Black paint color not offered on any other Saabs. It also had the highest horsepower rating of any of the old classic Saabs. You can see the specifications for this car at www.saabce.com/1994CE.htm.

This is an older car with high mileage but has been very reliable in the time I have owned it. And it has always been a lot of fun to drive. The only reasons I'm selling this car are because it just isn't being driven enough and I need the storage space. I've put only about 500 miles on it each of the last three years for which I've owned it.

On the plus side.

It's been a very dependable car.
It starts easily and runs well with a good idle.
It has newer brake rotors and pads.
It has a recent muffler.
It has a recent slave cylinder and clutch.
It has a recent master cylinder.
Overall, the body is solid and straight.
Everything seems to be there.
It's a lot of fun to drive.

Known problems.

The paint is pretty poor all over. It has lots of chips and scratches as shown. Check out the pictures.
The top is old and has been patched.
The seats are stained and ripped as shown.
It needs tires soon. They have plenty of tread but have dry rot.
It sometimes pops out of reverse gear.
The left rear brake caliper needs replacing.
The gas filler neck has a crack.
A few dings towards the lower side of the passenger side door.
The cruise control recently stopped working.
The battery is weak.

Those are all the problems I know of. Other than the paint, I don't see anything too serious that it could not be worked out with a couple of weekends of tinkering. And other than the tires, I would not hesitate to take this car on a long trip. I recently drove took it on a 250 mile round trip with no issues at all.

Don't let this opportunity to buy a classic limited edition Saab convertible pass you by. In my opinion, these were the best C900 Saab ever built. They only made 500 of these and there are not too many of these rare Saabs left. Driving this car with the top down on a cool Autumn night is an experience you should not miss.

Shipping:
The car can shipped if the winning bidder want makes all the arrangements and pays all costs. And the car needs to be picked up within two weeks from the close of the auction. If that condition is not meet, it will either be relisted or offered to the next highest bidder.

Payments:
A non-refundable $500 deposit must be made via Paypal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. And the car must be paid for in full before it can be picked up. I will accept cash or a money order from a major bank. No personal checks unless you are willing to let the check clear before picking up the car.

If you have any questions at all about the item or the terms of the auction, please ask prior to bidding.

Saab plant reopens, production to resume by year's end?

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Saab is gearing up to start production of the 9-3 again in September, two years after the last exampled rolled off the assembly line at the company's Trollhättan factory, Aftonbladet reports. Saab's new owner, National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS), a Chinese-Japanese consortium created solely to buy Saab, says that the model's parts supply is the bottleneck in the production process, understandable since many of Saab's suppliers closed after it stopped production two years ago. The automaker also needs to establish a new dealership network. It is not entirely clear where Saab will market their new models, but North America is not expected to figure into their plans, at least initially.
Almost 400 factory employees are reportedly back working at Trollhättan, and Saab is looking to recruit 180 workers to help with production, presuming the factory can overcome its supply issues and go back online in the fall.
The new 9-3 is understood to be something short of an all-new car, a revision of the old 9-3 that started production in 2002. It will reportedly be offered initially as a four-door sedan and two-door convertible, and it will have a turbocharged engine, according to NEVS, which we expect will be a four cylinder. An electric 9-3 could come as early as next year. Turbocharged engines are part of Saab's DNA, NEVS Vice President Mattias Bergman has stated, and future Saab models will have them - despite the automaker's planned progression toward electric vehicles. The 9-3 will get small facelifts over time, says Mikael Östlund, a press officer at NEVS.

Former Saab chairman Muller faces summons in tax inquiry

Thu, 23 May 2013

Former Saab Chairman Victor Muller may be called in for questioning as part of an official inquiry into suspected tax evasion by three of the automaker's former executives. A prosecutor has officially named former CEO Jan-Ake Jonsson and two other executives in the investigation, and official court documents say that Muller will be called in by the Financial Crimes Unit. According to Reuters, prosecutors are currently looking into allegations that the executives worked to dodge taxes between 2010 and 2011, when the automaker finally went into bankruptcy.
The Truth About Cars reports the investigation may center around the $540,000 paid as consulting fees to Latin America Tug Holding NV, a company Muller owns. It's possible that the Swedish authorities believe the Saab executives were using the tug boat company as a tax haven, and that the automaker should have paid taxes and social security contributions on the money. Muller has not been charged.
Meanwhile, Muller is defending his earnings in a new interview with Automotive News. Having come under fire for his $773,000 salary at Saab, the Spyker CEO said his pay was commensurate with an executive running a company with 4,000 employees.

Dealership refunds student for broken Saab with bags of pennies

Fri, Jul 25 2014

Every so often, we come across the story of someone trying to "stick it to the man" by paying a parking fine or speeding ticket in pennies or dimes. Never, though, have we heard of a business stooping to such cliched lengths. Enter Florida. Irena Mujakovic bought a 2003 Saab way back in January from Holiday Motors, in Jacksonville, FL. Shortly after the purchase, the transmission started acting up. She returned to the dealer and paid for the repair, and purchased a warranty for future issues. Total cost: $300. But then the trans crapped out not long after the initial repair, and Mujakovic was back at Holiday Motors. This is where things start going south. This second trip cost Mujakovic $400, with her warranty in hand. That's because the man that runs the dealer, Ed Di Miranda, neglected to mention that the warranty didn't cover labor costs. "The warranty did not cover labor and I failed to write that in and that was her loophole," Di Miranda told First Coast News. The young college student filed a complaint with the Florida DMV, who sided with her and ordered Holiday Motors to refund the money. Di Miranda and the dealership did just that, but when Mujakovic came to collect her refund, it was to a bag of pennies, with a few dollar bills sprinkled in for good measure. Di Miranda, doesn't seem to think he's done anything wrong, claiming that only about $85 was in change, while the rest was paper money. "I am doing what DMV asked me to do," Di Miranda said. "It is legal tender." Mujakovic has not collected her refund. Have a look below for the video news report. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
