Hi there everyone! Up for sale 1989 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible. I will not describe the vehicle with endless sentences and descriptions trying to hide any imperfections. Below you will find  CLEAR and VISIBLE divided list of things about the car which consists of: PROS, CONS, EXTRAS. WHILE RESTORING YOUR SAAB, THE MOST IMPORTANT IS TO STICK TO FACTORY LOOK. Enjoy.

PROS:
- new rear floor pans welded in; taken from donor 900 with 70000 miles on it
- new rust protection all over the internal floor area
- new seam sealer all over the internal floor area
- new foam/rubber mats under the carpeting taken from the same 900 that pans were taken from - washed, dried, covered with anti-germ and anti-bacterial protection
- new carpet taken from donor 900 - washed, dried and protected from germs and bacteria (it has a crack in the rear seats leg area, not that significant, at least for me)
- new anti-rust protection put underneath the car

- new undercoating put under the car and in rear wheel bays
- new shock absorbers taken from 70000-miled Saab 900 - checked, cleaned, new bushings - they look and work perfectly (OEM Saab ones)
- new rear break pads
- new electric antenna - works 10/10
- new trunk rust protection
- new seam sealer over the trunk area
- new trunk carpeting (with OEM Saab Tool Box - it lacks only radio eject hooks and allen wrench)
- new front Pioneer speakers (rear ones working great, OEM Clarion made for Saab)
- new front and rear side panel (door) inserts - material imitates the OEM one, looks almost ideally
- OEM Clarion radio set - radio/cassette player + equalizer - works PERFECTLY
- newly refinished dashboard - no cracks on it - tiny visible shades around past crack areas
- new speedo cable - no more speedometer hand bouncing
- new air filter
- new all-seazon tires, bought in December - not used since than that much - thread almost untouched
- new window wipers
- cleaned seats
- OEM Saab Rubber Mats - in fair condition
- all window motors/engines replaced for newer ones and filled with great doze of grease
- all window assemblies taken out, cleaned and greased

- top material from the outside looks 9.5/10
- top freshly-covered with RENOVO Ultraproofer - 3 codes
- top motor replaced for smoother one - the old one can be add to the car
- engine and transmission oil changed 200 miles ago - Valvoline 10 W 30 High Mileage, MTL Line Transmission Fluid
- car runs strong, no choking, no jumping, no overheating
- no rust on door frames, engine bay, trunk, underneath the car
- no rust in wheel wells area
- all 6 pieces of black rubber trim with silver-pearl inserts were replaced
- sound-deadened doors and rear panels with 9000 fabric mats - silent as never

CONS:
- small drops of oil getting out of an engine - normality as for Saabs - still waiting for a result after adding one of STOP LEAK solutions
- dirty engine - I didn't wash it to avoid any further problems - meaningless, for the fact it is covered with significant mist of dust, it doesn't affect anything
- interior lights don't work when set to 1 - open door position; 2 - all 3 work perfectly (including rear map lights)
- plenty of rock dings on a hood
- few scratches around the car
- one small rock chip on a front window - doesn't threaten the whole piece
- few nail-size rusty spots
- paint and filler cracked over the fueling cap - got to be fixed
- steering rack got to be replaced - $130 + labor $250-300 - depending on a state - it has a leak, however, it doesn't leak the way it could affect steering pump
- front 10 inches of headliner faded due to sun beams when top was stored down
- grill got crack on it
- front passenger seat got small hole in it - insignificant
- few scratches around internal vehicle area
- cruise control acts sometimes - if you set speed, it starts to accelerate anyway after 2-3 seconds - In my opinion it is sth with cc valve, got no time to check it
- AC needs to be filled - it is convertible, I was not using it
- trunk lid needs new paint - didn't bother me at all
- driver's front turn signal has few cracked out small pieces

EXTRAS:
- rare plastic top cover - it has two corner cracks and few scratches but still, it looks 100 times better than bare top
- additional MOMO steering wheel made for SAAB
- extra gauges: oil temp, oil pressure, voltage VDO - worth around $200 - very good condition
- brand new front break pads - thought they got to be replaced with rear ones, but it is not necessary yet
- two sets of keys
- original user's manual
- barely used OEM jack
- barely used extra wheel
- two CHROME door handles - perfect condition - just in case if you wanted to brighten the outlook
- brand new air filter - it has already new one inside, this one is just a spare one
- OEM tire changing mud matt - stay clean changing your tire on a dirty road
- OEM Clarion stereo set - works just beautifully

This is pretty much all I wanted to share with you about my Saab. If I forgot about something, I will add it shortly, but I am pretty sure that it was all. If you have any questions or doubts concerning this listing, don't hesitate to ask, I will be more than glad to assist you. 99% of all the things that have been done around the car were done by me. I own other Saab 900i which I also put a lot of effort in to make it work and look as it deserved for it. I got to sell this one, because I am leaving US soon for longer period of time and I need that money. It doesn't mean I will sell it for symbolic penny. I put my heart, time, blood (haha) and money into that 900 as I love Saabs. I made everything around the car AS FOR ME. Not to sell it, not to trade it, everything was made with great doze of patience, research and attention. Plus, don't forget about the trunk photo - lots of extras.

I was allowed to add up to 24 pictures. I got folder with 130 of them. If you want to see the rest of the photos, just let me know, I will send them to you right away.

Happy Bidding and Keep Saabing! : )

ATTENTION PLEASE!

I just wanted to add, that car is already located in STAMFORD, CT. It is ready to be seen and ride. Just two months ago I came from Montana to Connecticut with it (2250miles) - to some extend it gave me an opportunity to test a car. What can I say? No overheating, no abnormal oil consumption, no hissing, no problems at all. The only thing was previously mentioned steering rack which looses fluid. However, not that significantly, that it could affect steering quality or pump. I left US on Thursday (07.11) and I will be back probably in the end of October. However, the car is parked in the front of my uncle's home. If you are interested to meet up and test the car, just let me know and I will manage the meeting with my uncle.  I will do my best to make it as flexible as possible. Best regards, Chris.

Son Surprises Mom With Dream Car

Thu, Aug 14 2014

We can't get enough of these dream car-reveals. Here's the latest one: A son wanted to treat his mom to the car she's had her eye on for years, but it wasn't a restored Porsche or a fancy 1957 Chevy Bel Air. This mom wanted something special – a 1973 Saab 99 EMS painted disco-fever copper. Ever since he was a kid, Corey Wadden's mom has wanted the Saab. Wadden writes on his YouTube video that she first hopped in the driver's seat of one of these odd retro rides while working as a cleaning lady. One of her clients would toss her the keys and let her move the car. She fell in love. After a year of searching and saving, this nominee for best son in the world brought his mom down to the parking lot, where her dream ride awaited. First, he handed her an envelope with a picture of the car and the keys, a dead giveaway. She quickly put two and two together, and lost it before making it to the parking lot. She is so happy and full of gratitude that she actually drops to her knees when he opens the door. Wadden writes on his page that his mom lost her job two-and-a-half years ago and hasn't had a reliable car in years. This car aims not just to get her mobile again, but lift her spirits. It's also part of the Toronto entrepreneur's promise to become a millionaire by the time he is 25 to help his mother retire. Related Gallery The Best Cars For Empty Nesters Weird Car News Saab

Are orphan cars better deals?

Wed, Dec 30 2015

Most folks don't know a Saturn Aura from an Oldsmobile Aurora. Those of you who are immersed in the labyrinth of automobilia know that both cars were testaments to the mediocrity that was pre-bankruptcy General Motors, and that both brands are now long gone. But everybody else? Not so much. By the same token, there are some excellent cars and trucks that don't raise an eyebrow simply because they were sold under brands that are no longer being marketed. Orphan brands no longer get any marketing love, and because of that they can be alarmingly cheap. Case in point, take a look at how a 2010 Saturn Outlook compares with its siblings, the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave. According to the Manheim Market Report, the Saturn will sell at a wholesale auto auction for around $3,500 less than the comparably equipped Buick or GMC. Part of the reason for this price gap is that most large independent dealerships, such as Carmax, make it a point to avoid buying cars with orphaned badges. Right now if you go to Carmax's site, you'll find that there are more models from Toyota's Scion sub-brand than Mercury, Saab, Pontiac, Hummer, and Saturn combined. This despite the fact that these brands collectively sold in the millions over the last ten years while Scion has rarely been able to realize a six-figure annual sales figure for most of its history. That is the brutal truth of today's car market. When the chips are down, used-car shoppers are nearly as conservative as their new-car-buying counterparts. Unfamiliarity breeds contempt. Contempt leads to fear. Fear leads to anger, and pretty soon you wind up with an older, beat-up Mazda MX-5 in your driveway instead of looking up a newer Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky. There are tons of other reasons why orphan cars have trouble selling in today's market. Worries about the cost of repair and the availability of parts hang over the industry's lost toys like a cloud of dust over Pigpen. Yet any common diagnostic repair database, such as Alldata, will have a complete framework for your car's repair and maintenance, and everyone from junkyards to auto parts stores to eBay and Amazon stock tens of thousands of parts. This makes some orphan cars mindblowingly awesome deals if you're willing to shop in the bargain bins of the used-car market. Consider a Suzuki Kizashi with a manual transmission. No, really.

Koenigsegg plans a ‘CO2 neutral’ hybrid supercar

Fri, Feb 1 2019

Fresh from receiving a 150 million-euro infusion from National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the Chinese-backed company that bought up Saab's assets out of bankruptcy, supercar maker Koenigsegg has signaled just what it plans to do under the new joint venture. Christian von Koenigsegg gave an interview to Top Gear in which he said he wants to develop an all-new supercar to sit below ultra-exclusive models like the Agera RS and Regera, priced at around ˆ1 million (about $1.15 million) to grow sales from 20 a year into the hundreds, because "our brand has outgrown our production volumes by quite a big margin." And it will feature a novel, "completely CO2 neutral" hybrid powrtrain using the "freevalve" camless combustion engine technology the company has been developing in concert with battery-electric power. "Given the freevalve technology, we can actually cold-start the car on pure alcohol, down to -30 degrees Celsius, so there's no need for any fossil fuel mix then," he told Top Gear. "The idea is to prove to the world that even a combustion engine can be completely CO2 neutral." Von Koenigsegg previously hinted at the setup after talking about how his engineers were responding to Tesla's claims that its forthcoming next-generation Roadster would be capable of a 1.9-second 0-60 mph time. He further hints that the new hybridized supercar will look unmistakably like a Keonigsegg but be in a different segment altogether from either the Agera RS or plug-in hybrid Regera. Consider us very much intrigued and eager to hear more. Meanwhile, Koenigsegg has said it plans to reveal the successor to the Agera RS next month at the Geneva Motor Show based on a refined version of the same supercharged V8 combustion engine. The new joint venture with NEVS, meanwhile, sees that company take a 65 percent ownership stake, with Koenigsegg holding the rest and contributing its trove of intellectual property, technology licenses and product design. NEVS also gets a 20 percent stake in Koenigsegg itself. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
