Hi there everyone! Up for sale 1989 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible. I will not describe the vehicle with endless sentences and descriptions trying to hide any imperfections. Below you will find CLEAR and VISIBLE divided list of things about the car which consists of: PROS, CONS, EXTRAS. WHILE RESTORING YOUR SAAB, THE MOST IMPORTANT IS TO STICK TO FACTORY LOOK. Enjoy.
PROS:
- new rear floor pans welded in; taken from donor 900 with 70000 miles on it
- new rust protection all over the internal floor area
- new seam sealer all over the internal floor area
- new foam/rubber mats under the carpeting taken from the same 900 that pans were taken from - washed, dried, covered with anti-germ and anti-bacterial protection
- new carpet taken from donor 900 - washed, dried and protected from germs and bacteria (it has a crack in the rear seats leg area, not that significant, at least for me)
- new anti-rust protection put underneath the car
- new shock absorbers taken from 70000-miled Saab 900 - checked, cleaned, new bushings - they look and work perfectly (OEM Saab ones)
- new rear break pads
- new electric antenna - works 10/10
- new trunk rust protection
- new seam sealer over the trunk area
- new trunk carpeting (with OEM Saab Tool Box - it lacks only radio eject hooks and allen wrench)
- new front Pioneer speakers (rear ones working great, OEM Clarion made for Saab)
- new front and rear side panel (door) inserts - material imitates the OEM one, looks almost ideally
- OEM Clarion radio set - radio/cassette player + equalizer - works PERFECTLY
- newly refinished dashboard - no cracks on it - tiny visible shades around past crack areas

- car runs strong, no choking, no jumping, no overheating
- no rust in wheel wells area
- all 6 pieces of black rubber trim with silver-pearl inserts were replaced
CONS:
- small drops of oil getting out of an engine - normality as for Saabs - still waiting for a result after adding one of STOP LEAK solutions
- dirty engine - I didn't wash it to avoid any further problems - meaningless, for the fact it is covered with significant mist of dust, it doesn't affect anything
- interior lights don't work when set to 1 - open door position; 2 - all 3 work perfectly (including rear map lights)
- plenty of rock dings on a hood
- few scratches around the car
- one small rock chip on a front window - doesn't threaten the whole piece
- few nail-size rusty spots
- paint and filler cracked over the fueling cap - got to be fixed
- steering rack got to be replaced - $130 + labor $250-300 - depending on a state - it has a leak, however, it doesn't leak the way it could affect steering pump
- front 10 inches of headliner faded due to sun beams when top was stored down
- grill got crack on it
- front passenger seat got small hole in it - insignificant
- few scratches around internal vehicle area
- cruise control acts sometimes - if you set speed, it starts to accelerate anyway after 2-3 seconds - In my opinion it is sth with cc valve, got no time to check it
- AC needs to be filled - it is convertible, I was not using it
- trunk lid needs new paint - didn't bother me at all
- driver's front turn signal has few cracked out small pieces
EXTRAS:

- brand new front break pads - thought they got to be replaced with rear ones, but it is not necessary yet
- two sets of keys
- original user's manual
- barely used OEM jack
- barely used extra wheel
- two CHROME door handles - perfect condition - just in case if you wanted to brighten the outlook
- brand new air filter - it has already new one inside, this one is just a spare one
- OEM tire changing mud matt - stay clean changing your tire on a dirty road
- OEM Clarion stereo set - works just beautifully
This is pretty much all I wanted to share with you about my Saab. If I forgot about something, I will add it shortly, but I am pretty sure that it was all. If you have any questions or doubts concerning this listing, don't hesitate to ask, I will be more than glad to assist you. 99% of all the things that have been done around the car were done by me. I own other Saab 900i which I also put a lot of effort in to make it work and look as it deserved for it. I got to sell this one, because I am leaving US soon for longer period of time and I need that money. It doesn't mean I will sell it for symbolic penny. I put my heart, time, blood (haha) and money into that 900 as I love Saabs. I made everything around the car AS FOR ME. Not to sell it, not to trade it, everything was made with great doze of patience, research and attention. Plus, don't forget about the trunk photo - lots of extras.

Future Classic: 1999-2002 Saab 9-3 Viggen
Mon, Jan 30 2023Given the company’s now-defunct status, you could argue that all Saabs are future classics. Even the final round of cars from the era of General Motors ownership deserve their place in history. Seriously, how hot was the last 9-5? Handsome design and quirky features were hallmarks of the Saab brand, and its cars felt every bit as premium as its primary European competitors. But while other luxury carmakers put great effort into full lineups of performance cars, Sweden only produced the odd sporty Saab every once in a while. One of our favorites was the 9-3 Viggen from the turn of the century, and itÂ’s a car that still makes us swoon today. Why is the Saab 9-3 Viggen a future classic? Saab's whole "born from jets" tagline never really made much sense, but at least the 9-3 Viggen's name was a nod to the company's aerospace roots. The Swedish word "Viggen" translates to "thunderbolt" in English, and this name was used on the Saab 37 Viggen aircraft that entered service in the early 1970s. MotorWeek | Retro Review: '99 Saab Viggen The 9-3 Viggen used a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four engine, most notably remembered for its eyebrow-raising 20 psi of boost pressure. Rated at 225 horsepower – which was later bumped up to 230 hp – and 252 pound-feet of torque, this engine was paired exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. Stiffer suspension components, firmer dampers, stronger driveshafts, a heavy-duty clutch and a revised exhaust were also part of the package. The Viggen was relatively quick, with Saab quoting a 0-to-60-mph time of around 6.5 seconds. However, the 9-3 Viggen is largely remembered for things like its ridiculous turbo lag and torque steer – characteristics that kind of made this car hilarious to drive, even if they took away from overall sharpness and composure. What is the ideal example of the Saab 9-3 Viggen? Saab offered the 9-3 Viggen as a three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback and two-door convertible. And while this car is most commonly remembered in its launch shade, Lightning Blue, Saab offered the Viggen in black, gray, red, silver and yellow. You could even spec the interior with blue, orange or tan leather accents. Arguably the most iconic 9-3 Viggen spec is a Lightning Blue three-door hatch, but the other colors are far more rare. WeÂ’ve got a major soft spot for a Monte Carlo Yellow five-door, but really, you canÂ’t go wrong.
Saab's Victor Muller wanted to nix Griffin, return to airplane emblem
Tue, 09 Oct 2012According to Just-Auto.com Victor Muller wasn't a fan of the Saab Griffin logo. The executive was quoted as saying he wanted to "abolish" the Griffin logo and return to the airplane emblem. Muller made it clear that if he'd had his way, the propeller would have replaced the Griffin across the Saab lineup long ago.
National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the company that recently bought Saab, was forced to abandon the Griffin logo due to the fact that the emblem is still used by truck manufacturer Scania. The manufacturer is reportedly concerned about potential Chinese counterfeiting - NEVS is owned by Youngman, a Chinese automaker - though it's unclear how that relationship would lead to illegal copies.
Either way, NEVS has said the loss of the Griffin logo isn't that important to the company so long as it can continue to build on the Saab name. Muller, meanwhile, said he wishes NEVS luck in the company's electric-vehicle endeavor, but that he doesn't understand its new business model.
Koenigsegg super cars team with Saab successor NEVS to go electric
Wed, Jan 30 2019STOCKHOLM — The Chinese-backed company born from the remnants of bankrupt Swedish automaker Saab is investing 150 million euros ($171 million) in a venture with Swedish super car brand Koenigsegg, in a move that could see them develop new electric models. National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS), in which China's Evergrande Health recently became the majority investor, said it would take a 65 percent stake in a new joint venture to "develop a product for new and untapped segments." Koenigsegg will hold the rest, and contribute intellectual property, technology licenses and product design. The deal deepens China's exposure to Swedish automakers, with Geely owning Volvo Cars and the largest investor in truckmaker AB Volvo, and another Chinese investor having created NEVS in 2012 after buying the core assets and IP rights of Saab Automobile following its demise. NEVS, which owns production bases in Trollhattan in Sweden and Tianjin in China and plans another in Shanghai, has been trying to establish itself as a pure electric automaker, but has yet to produce a car. Evergrande Health's $930 million cash infusion into NEVS, announced this month, was seen as a second lifeline, giving it funds to develop costly electric vehicles and access to new auto technologies, where Evergrande is expanding. The Chinese firm is a unit of property developer China Evergrande Group and is a former investor in U.S. electric vehicle developer Faraday Future. Tuesday's deal will give NEVS a 20 percent stake in Koenigsegg and could potentially pave the way for it to begin delivering products to the market, with its loose partnership with Didi Chuxing, China's Uber, yet to yield anything concrete. "Koenigsegg is an enticing company developing advanced cars with unique technology and with a customer base that is one of a kind. ... We have both competencies and facilities to support Koenigsegg on their journey forward," NEVS Chairman Kai Johan Jiang said. Koenigsegg, backed by U.S. and Norwegian investors, sought to buy Saab after its 2011 collapse but the deal never materialized. While the luxury brand has built a plug-in hybrid, it has yet to develop a fully electric vehicle. Tesla's sales success in recent years has shown that a market for luxury electric cars exists, pushing traditional carmakers including Volkswagen's Audi and Porsche, and Tata Motors' Jaguar to develop their own versions.
