1987 Saab 900 Turbo 5-speed Convertible Power Top With Toneau Cover Very Nice!!! on 2040-cars
Wappapello, Missouri, United States
About this car . First thing I traded a ford truck and cash for this car. It belonged to a local business man in my town. I have always liked the looks of these cars. I have never owned a foreign car other than a Volkswagen. The owner has owned several foreign cars. He bought a Bmw convertible and sold the saab to me. He had owned it for a while and assured me it was in good shape. After purchasing the car I have drove it very little, but here is what I can tell you about it. It has a 2.0 4 cylinder turbo motor and a 5-speed transmission. Motor is very quiet and tranny shifts perfect. Motor does not smoke and previous owner assured me it did not burn any oil. . The turbo gives this motor power through the shift range that thoroughly impressed this Ford and Chevy man. Previous owner put $600.00 worth of brakes and calipers on this car. I have the receipts where this was done in my home town. Car has a power top. Top is not perfect but is actually in nice shape with a minor tear or two. All glass is good including the convertible rear heated glass. Driver seat has rip in leather other seats are good. It has a power antenna. Original radio has been replaced with am/fm cd unit. very nice speaker sound. Dash has some cracks in it. Trunk floor has some minor rust, and there is some bubbling over rear wheel. This car runs smoothly down the road. There is no major vibration or darting in the front end. Tires are in good used shape. Here is what I know that I think you need to know. The front passenger side headlight bracket is broke. But light stays in place. All lights and signals work. car has twin electric fans. One fan is wired to run constantly which keeps motor cool. Car does not overheat. But is not supposed to work that way. Brakes have been replaced and so have calipers ,but they need adjusted. After car has been drove a while this goes away because the brakes heat up as they are supposed to and they work nicely. Air condition not blowing cool I assume it needs refrigerant. As I said I am very impressed with this car. This car is 27 years old and I would label it a survivor. Some one had to pull maintenance to have lasted this long. But I am and will mostly be a Ford and Chevy man. This car is sold as is no warranty. Shipping or pick-up will be your responsibility. Will answer all questions honestly. I have 100% positive feedback.

eBay Find of the Day: 1985 Saab Turbo Limo is the ultimate high school reunion ride
Wed, 18 Jul 2012Yes, we've seen this 1985 Saab 900 Turbo limo for sale before. But somehow, this time is just seems more right. And we've got more pictures this go-around.
With the Saab brand now dormant and little hope for a true renaissance, save for one that comes in name only, Saab's future must lie in the celebration of great cars of its past. And what better way to celebrate the wonderful Saab 900 than to chop it in half and turn it into a freaking limousine?
Claimed to have been built by a Denver area Saab specialist, this five-speed manual 900 Turbo is listed with a Buy It Now of $8,500. It's actually surprisingly well turned-out, too, with a pretty decent interior that sticks to real Saab seats, avoiding the crushed-velvet or button-festooned lounge chair look. While this seems rather spendy for a well-used limousine, good luck finding another one like it. And besides, that's a lot less than the $12,500 asking price from back in 2010.
Motorweek looks back at 1983 Saab 900S
Tue, Aug 4 2015These days, Saab is a zombie marque. Technically, the brand is still shambling around under the ownership of National Electric Vehicle Sweden, and there are continued promises of an electric version of the 9-3. However, we all suspect that the company is never really coming back, at least not as the quirky Swedish brand of the past. That's what makes watching this latest Retro Review of John Davis and the Motorweek crew driving a non-turbo 1983 Saab 900S so special. This is a great chance to see Saab still alive and kicking. While not one of the more famous turbocharged examples, the naturally aspirated 900S is still a quintessential Saab in every other way. The reviewers definitely aren't sold on the looks though, and there are plenty of jokes at its expense. Although, only paying attention to the polarizing exterior styling makes missing the good handling and immense interior utility easy. Sadly, without the aid of forced induction, the 900 offers very lackadaisical acceleration. According to this clip, the sprint to 60 miles per hour is more of jog in a leisurely 12.2 seconds. At the brand's best, Saab provided the motoring world with an alternative. If you didn't want just another boxy sedan, the brand offered something like nothing else on the road. Plus, drivers found a well-tuned turbocharged engine that provided good performance for the day. It's a company worth remembering, despite the current state of things.
Saab 9-3 production to start in China in 2013 [UPDATE]
Thu, 17 Jan 2013We knew that National Electric Vehicle Sweden planned to restart production of the last-gen Saab 9-3 at some point in the future, we just didn't know exactly when, or exactly where. As it turns out, the answers to those questions are soon, and China.
Though NEVS had initially said it will build vehicles in Sweden before shipping them to China, the latest report from Autocar suggests that the cars will instead be built right in Quingdao starting later in 2013. That's right, this calendar year. Also on the docket is a followup electric version of the 9-3, which is slated to come to market in 2014 in an effort to satiate China's wish that there be half a million EVs silently filling its streets within the next two years.
NEVS wants to be part of the EV solution, but it's not going to be easy. Naturally, if these cars are to be built in China, a factory has to be located or built, tooling needs to be in place, workers need to be hired and trained and a lengthy trail of paperwork has to be signed off by the government before even the well-known gasoline-powered 9-3 can be a reality, let along the unknown quantity that is the 9-3 ePower.
