Repairable Or For Parts 1999 Saab Turbo 9-5 Se Red 4-door 3.0 V6 - No Key on 2040-cars
Knoxville, Maryland, United States
This snazzy cayenne red mica painted Saab was donated to our small non-profit organization by its previous owner, for our use. It was not smoked in while in our possession, but I do not have smoking information from prior owners. I was able to find good service records at a dealership in Hagerstown, MD, where it was originally purchased. It had 114,000 miles on it when we got it, and we used it lightly (and with great pleasure!) until it needed some work on its Turbocharger. We parked it (at 117,951 miles) to do some fundraising for the Turbocharger repairs. In the meantime its key was destroyed in a small kitchen fire at the Center. SO WE DO NOT HAVE A KEY FOR THIS CAR!!! I have been told that without the key or the fob the car would need a new ignition "TWICE" module, married to a new key at a dealership, a complex but not impossible repair. So this is a repairable near-luxury car, or great parts car, which has now been sitting for 4 years. Among the Owner's Manual and other paperwork in the glove box (it's a refrigerated glove box... so, now that you know that, you REALLY MUST make a bid!!!) I found the original window sticker, with all the loaded features and extras listed. A picture of it is at the end of the batch of pictures. You will need to bring a tilt-deck tow-truck to pick up this car in Knoxville, MD 21758 (across the river and very near to Harper's Ferry, WV.) Deposit is through PayPal. Payment must be received within 2 days of the end of the auction. Title will be provided at pick-up, and upon completed payment. Arrangements for pick-up and title exchange will be made post-sale, to be mutually agreeable, mutually convenient, and within a reasonable time. Please feel free contact me to ask questions. Questions and information from other eBayers are attached to this listing, with opinions and information about the lost key issue. THANK YOU for looking! |

Saab restarts production line in Trollh"attan
Thu, 19 Sep 2013The new owner of Saab, National Electric Vehicle Sweden, has bolted together its first two new cars at the company's traditional home in Trollhättan. The two 9-3 sedans were built to work bugs out of the production line and test newer components before full-scale production starts near the end of the year.
NEVS acting President, Mattias Bergman, issued a statement saying, "Prior to our decision to start production of Saab cars, we need to finalize a few remaining dialogues to build partnerships with suppliers. We now know that the plant is ready for production." First up for NEVS will be gas-powered, turbocharged 9-3s, before bringing a facelifted, electrified variant later next year. There are also plans to rejigger Saab's never-was Phoenix architecture for production, although NEVS needs to excise the remaining General Motors tech from the platform before building anything.
According to a report on Automotive News Europe, once under way, NEVS has set an optimistic target of 120,000 units per year by 2016, with sales focused in Europe and China - there's no official word on if NEVS ever plans to bring the Saab name back to North America.
Look familiar? NEVS 9-3, 9-3X are Saab-derived EVs for China
Wed, May 31 2017National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) have been working on creating EVs based on its Saab assets for years. We heard back in 2015 that we'd have an EV based on the 9-3 this year, and now we're finally getting to see the results. NEVS has unveiled its 9-3 and 9-3X EV concepts, which it will use in a mobility project in Tianjin, China. NEVS is showing the 9-3 EVs at CES Asia in Shanghai on June 7-9, where it will also provide more details about the cars, its Tianjin project, and future plans for the brand. As for Tianjin, NEVS will provide the cars and the services for carsharing and ride-hailing programs in the city. For that project, NEVS is collaborating with Tianjin Binhai Hi-tech Industrial Development Area (THT), which is the industrial park where its shared factory (with joint venture partner Dongfeng) and R&D center are located. NEVS President Mattias Bergman says, "We are excited by this great opportunity to develop smart, sustainable mobility solutions together with a progressive city as Tianjin, and develop them in full scale with real people in real life situations, with the vision to create a future integrated urban mobility solution." As for the 9-3 EVs, they're not much different in appearance from the GM-era Saabs, but they have NEVS badging (NEVS doesn't have rights to the Saab trademark). They have a driving range of about 186 miles, offer in-car Wi-Fi, smartphone connectivity, and can get over-the-air software updates. NEVS says the cars are equipped with a "world-class" cabin air filter, which helps keep harmful particulates out of the car (important in the polluted urban centers China is working to improve). They're being built in China, and are expected to hit the roads there in 2018. Related Video:
Saab's never-was 9-3 gets a few better looks
Sat, 23 Mar 2013The recent glimpses we've been getting of the never-was Saab 9-3 Phoenix must be like rubbing salt on the wounds of all the Saab fans out there. If that's the case, diehard Saab enthusiasts might want to look away from this. SaabWorld has uncovered a handful of shots of what was to be the next-generation 9-3 hatchback, and boy does it look sharp.
Revealing a clearer look at what we previously saw in grainy images or as a full-scale model, these new pictures show what Jason Castriota had in mind for the new car. The front end is obviously inspired by Saab's Phoenix Concept, while the rear of the car pays homage to the Saab 900 hatchback.
We like the overall look. Let us know what you think in the Comments.
