1999 Saab 9-5 2.3l Turbo Automatic on 2040-cars
West Palm Beach, Florida, United States
I have for sale a very nice 1999 Saab 9-5 2.3L turbo. Please check the pictures! Clear Florida Title.
I got the car from one of my customers. It had a blown head gasket. Cylinder head was removed and sent to machine shop to check for cracks, resurface, re seat the valves and change all valve seals. New OEM head gasket was installed (metal gasket) with copper seal, new head bolts, thermostat and gasket, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, fresh oil change, crank sensor, new coolant and I also flushed the transmission fluid. Compression test showed 190 psi on all 4 cylinders. So engine is like new.Car runs and drives very good. Super cold a/c. Lot's of power when you put the transmission on sport mode! I increased the boost a couple of points so the car is very responsive but still very economical with the 2.3L engine. Nice 4 door sedan with a huge trunk. Mileage is 160K but this is a SAAB with major maintenance done so you will drive it for a long time without any problems. There is a crack on the front windshield, cracked passenger rear tail light (I already ordered one on Ebay),rear bumper with scratches, rear passenger air vent missing on right side. I think I've described the car as best as I can. By no means this is a new car but it sure is above average of what is out there. A $500 non refundable down payment no later then 2 days after auction ends. Paypal ok for deposit, balance in person, CASH ONLY. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Look at my other auctions!! Thank you; HW |

Rally legend Erik Carlsson dies at 86
Wed, May 27 2015The motorsports world has lost a legend with the passing of famous rally driver Erik Carlsson at the age of 86. If you've ever seen a photo of a vintage Saab sliding around a corner or blasting through tree-lined roads, there was a good chance that Carlsson was behind the wheel. The man was so tied to the Swedish auto brand that he earned the nickname Mr. Saab. Carlsson experienced his greatest competition success in the late '50s and early '60s when he scored victories in premier events like the Monte Carlo Rally (pictured above). Among his more impressive performances were consecutive wins in '60, '61, and '62 Britain's RAC Rally. His three-cylinder, 750cc Saab 96 wasn't insanely powerful, but Carlsson made it a monster in the world of rallying. In 2010, Saab named a special edition 9-3 after him and honored his victory at the RAC Club in London. Beyond being impressive behind the wheel of a rally car and a longtime Saab brand ambassador, the driver had a habit of rolling his car during competition to earn the moniker "Carlsson On The Roof." According to Classic and Sports Car, he also wrote the book The Art and Technique of Driving that detailed his left-foot braking method, and it was co-authored with his wife, fellow racing driver Pat Moss. Our condolences go out to Carlsson's friends and family.
Greetings from Trollhattan. I'm Emily, but I'm not a Saab.
Sat, Apr 29 2023What’s Swedish for “never give up”? Saab, apparently. The fondly-remembered car company formerly called just that — and now named NEVS — is only a shell, employing just a limited crew in the land of trolls. But itÂ’s got something to sell, and that something seems like it's really something. ItÂ’s called Emily. The Emily GT exists as six prototype electric cars, according to NEVS, with a combined horsepower rating (per car) of 484 powered by an enormous 175-kilowatt lithium-ion battery thatÂ’s good for 600 miles of range. In development almost since Saab's demise — the company, once owned by General Motors, was closed down in 2010 — the Emily is a very real product and needs a real sponsor, according to NEVS CEO Nina Selander, speaking to Carup. “It is for sale, it is also a joy to be able to show it. It should be allowed to live on, itÂ’s too nice, too good and too modern a car for nothing to come of it. Interested parties are welcome,” she said. Photos of the car show a modern, forward-thrust profile with handsome lines, a look similar to the last Saab 9-5 and VolvoÂ’s S60 (must be a Swedish thing) and a fashionable, sci-fi-ish interior. A hopeful engineer on the project estimates that the car is less than two years away from some kind of series production, but according to the modest NEVS website, the company is currently in “hibernation” even as it continues to solicit buyers for the Emilys. Said Peter Dahl, the Emily project manager, “Many have asked us what we have been doing for 10 years. We have developed 13 different car projects, this is one of them.” Related video: Volvo Saab Automotive History Electric Future Vehicles Classics
Son surprises mom with her dream car, a 1973 Saab 99
Wed, Aug 13 2014Often, it feels like the news is just a never-ending stream of one depressing headline after another. It can be so liberating to see something positive and uplifting every once in a while. Just look at the ecstatic expression on this mother's face after receiving her dream car from her son. Mom has some seriously quirky taste too: she isn't after a muscle car or a two-seat droptop; instead, it's a 1973 Saab 99 EMS in a very '70s shade of copper at the top of her wish list. According to the video, it took her son about a year to track down this hunk of Swedish steel and save up the money to purchase it. Though, judging from his mom's reaction, it was worth every penny. She puts together what's going on with the Saab pretty quickly and immediately starts swearing at her son – out of love, of course. If you're feeling a little blue, consider this a much-needed pick-me-up. Watching the unbridled joy of someone getting something that they always wanted just feels wonderful.
