Up for sale is my 2003 Saab 9-3 Convertible SE. I absolutely love this car. It has been extremely good to me. I have had no major mechanical fixes with this car. I've only had to replace the ac compressor and this is around when I first bought the car. I also just put a new battery in the car. The car is a great running car. The only reason I'm selling it is because my husband and I are getting ready to have a new baby and we need a car with more space. The car's top is most definitely a functioning top.Now the top is moving really slow to not moving at all  only because it is out of soft top hydraulic fluid. If you are a SAAB enthusiast or a mechanic, you'd know this is a pretty standard refill. Also, the car needs a secondary catalic converter.  It had fallen off due to rust which caused the catalic converter to hang. So, we took the catalic converter off the car. We still have the catalic converter part. The car is loud because of this but we will give put the part in the car for you, so that you only have to worry about the secondary catalic converter, which will be an easy cheap welding job, if you want to get it fixed. It does not effect the car's performance at all. The check engine light is on due to  the temperature sensor/thermostat. Usually, you get them replaced at the same time. I was quoted $60.00 for this. I got a code scan today that will verify this. This is also not an expensive fix. This is the ONLY reason the check engine light is on, as you can see on the document. This car has been a wonder. None of the issues has prevented us from driving. It just has the standard needs that any car does new brakes and tires when you see fit. This car is a solid 7/10. This car has beautiful black leather,  HEATED seats, cruise control, ONSTAR, power seats with memory, telescopic steering, and more. There is no amount of money that you can put on the experience of driving a SAAB convertible. KBB lists the car at minimally $5000 even in fair condition with cosmetic wear and mechanic problems. We're not looking for as much just $3500 obo. Please be fair when bidding. For any inquiries please feel free to contact us at anytime. We would like to sell the car immediately.

Vampire Weekend singer responds to burning Saab controversy [w/video]

Fri, 29 Mar 2013

Last week, we tipped you off about Vampire Weekend and their new music video for the song Diane Young, a short film that consists entirely of setting fire to two perfectly nice-looking Saab 900 automobiles. The indie rock band's video - viewable by scrolling down - predictably triggered the internet ire of classic car enthusiasts - Saabophiles in particular - and word of the unrest eventually got back to the band itself.
According to music site Spinner (nb: owned by Autoblog parent AOL), the group was "stunned" at the backlash - enough that lead singer Ezra Koenig felt compelled to respond himself. According to Koenig, the band was under the impression that their record company was "looking to purchase the cheapest, oldest cars possible; they weren't trying to buy a beautiful perfect condition car." By way of apology, Koenig even goes so far as to note that bandmate Rostam Batmanglij is a keen fan of Saab.
Other reports have claimed that the cars may have been purchased under false pretenses, sold by owners who "wanted to see them go to a nice new home," but Koenig takes issue with that characterization, countering that he understood that the cars had substantial electrical problems.

Saab begins 9-3 EV pilot production

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

To say that Saab has had a tough time lately would be like saying that it's been a little colder than usual this winter. After General Motors finally gave up and sold it to Spyker in 2010, Saab declared bankruptcy the following year. GM successfully blocked Spyker from selling Saab to Chinese automaker Youngman the following year, but ultimately it ended up in the hands of another Chinese consortium called NEVS. Standing as it does for National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the new owners promised not only to restart production of the long-suffering 9-3, but also to turn it into an electric vehicle. And that's just what it's doing.
The latest news coming out of Sweden indicates that NEVS/Saab has started building the first examples of the 9-3 EV. These first 200 or so examples are set to be shipped off to Qingdao - the Chinese city that is home to the Tsingtao brewery, hosted the sailing components of the 2008 summer games on Beijing, was supposed to host an IndyCar race in 2012 before it was canceled, and also itself just happens to own 22 percent of NEVS.
These first EVs have their batteries mounted down low in the chassis for a low center of gravity and have a range of about 20 miles on a full charge. That's absolutely paltry compared to the other EVs on the market: a Nissan Leaf will travel more than four times that distance, and a Tesla Model S will go ten times farther on a charge.

GM recalls 500K Chevy Camaros for ignition-switch defect

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

General Motors issued a recall for more than a half million Chevrolet Camaros on Friday morning because of an ignition-switch safety hazard that mirrors the one at the center of the company's current crisis.
The problem affects Camaro models from the 2010 to 2014 model years. Approximately 464,712 cars are impacted in the United States, and 511,528 overall in North America. GM will alter the Camaro key to a more standard design, and will notify car owners with a recall notice in the mail.
In an announcement, the company said the ignition switches on the Camaros are fundamentally different parts than the older ignition switches found on defective cars that are responsible for killing at least 13 people and causing 54 crashes.
