This is my fiances 2002 9-3 Saab. She got it from a lot about 3 years ago in Pennsylvania. It runs well and she still drives it back and forth to work everyday. There are some annoying things on the car (like all the windows dont work), and I want to be completely upfront with everything we're aware of. If you've owned a Saab in the past you know these things happen :) Here are the pros and cons of the car :
- Engine is healthy and performed well under tests at dealership recently
- Transmission shifts well no sign of slipping or going out
- Coolant reservoir was installed new earlier this year and engine never overheats
- All seat belts and airbags are intact
- Air conditioner and heat work excellent
- All lights around car work excellent
- Stereo system has CD player, ipod & auxiliary inputs as well as two new speakers in back
- Brand new radiator installed this year
- Leather Seats
- Turbo
- Brand new battery this year
- Driver side and back passenger windows do not go down (need regulator clips)
- Sunroof doesn't open (was told this was a small problem with the button not the mechanics)
- Brake Booster will need to be repaired in the future (car brakes but is a little stiff. mechanic said it will need to be replaced eventually)
- Every so often the car will turn but not kick over. My fiance says this happens to her at work about once or twice a month. She has to wait about 20 minutes and it starts. Not sure what's causing this, but it's always eventually started and 95% of the time starts fine.

NEVS completes Saab purchase, earns right to brand name but not griffin badge
Mon, 03 Sep 2012
According to the Associated Press, a Hong Kong-based concern is close to building new Saab models. After some delays, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) has completed the purchase of bankrupt Swedish automaker Saab.
NEVS says it plans to debut an electric vehicle in about 18 months. When the car comes to market, it will wear the Saab name, but not the marque's well-known griffin logo. Reuters reports that the company will produce EVs based on the Saab 9-3 platform, with intentions to sell these vehicles primarily in the Chinese market. Due to the continued use of the distinctive griffin head logo by commercial truckmaker Scania and the Saab aerospace group, NEVS was only granted access to the Saab name, not its emblem.
Saab 9-3 production to start in China in 2013 [UPDATE]
Thu, 17 Jan 2013We knew that National Electric Vehicle Sweden planned to restart production of the last-gen Saab 9-3 at some point in the future, we just didn't know exactly when, or exactly where. As it turns out, the answers to those questions are soon, and China.
Though NEVS had initially said it will build vehicles in Sweden before shipping them to China, the latest report from Autocar suggests that the cars will instead be built right in Quingdao starting later in 2013. That's right, this calendar year. Also on the docket is a followup electric version of the 9-3, which is slated to come to market in 2014 in an effort to satiate China's wish that there be half a million EVs silently filling its streets within the next two years.
NEVS wants to be part of the EV solution, but it's not going to be easy. Naturally, if these cars are to be built in China, a factory has to be located or built, tooling needs to be in place, workers need to be hired and trained and a lengthy trail of paperwork has to be signed off by the government before even the well-known gasoline-powered 9-3 can be a reality, let along the unknown quantity that is the 9-3 ePower.
Saab restarts production line in Trollh"attan
Thu, 19 Sep 2013The new owner of Saab, National Electric Vehicle Sweden, has bolted together its first two new cars at the company's traditional home in Trollhättan. The two 9-3 sedans were built to work bugs out of the production line and test newer components before full-scale production starts near the end of the year.
NEVS acting President, Mattias Bergman, issued a statement saying, "Prior to our decision to start production of Saab cars, we need to finalize a few remaining dialogues to build partnerships with suppliers. We now know that the plant is ready for production." First up for NEVS will be gas-powered, turbocharged 9-3s, before bringing a facelifted, electrified variant later next year. There are also plans to rejigger Saab's never-was Phoenix architecture for production, although NEVS needs to excise the remaining General Motors tech from the platform before building anything.
According to a report on Automotive News Europe, once under way, NEVS has set an optimistic target of 120,000 units per year by 2016, with sales focused in Europe and China - there's no official word on if NEVS ever plans to bring the Saab name back to North America.
