Super clean and well taken care of! I hate to get rid of it but am forced to because of financial reasons. I have about 800 dollars worth of receipts for this car. Just recently did spark plugs, 02 sensors, MAF Sensor, cabin filter, air filter, comes with k&n as well.( I bought new air filter before I knew it had k&n ). Fully synthetic oil change. I also installed a pcv hose update kit on it as well. The convertible top worked when I got it but the display says " check soft top " now and it won't come down.. Everyone that I have talked to says it just needs to be filled with hydraulic oil, I just haven't had the chance to do it yet. The tires appear to be nearly brand new. It also looks like it has brand new brakes and rotors. I also recharged the ac system and it blows ice cold. All the windows work great. The previous owner took extremely good care of this car. She either had it detailed professionally or did it herself on a frequent basis.

I was planning on keeping this car for a long time so I was dumping a lot of money into it ( because I'm a perfectionist ).
The engine runs superb , but the check engine light is on and it is saying that it needs a new DI Cassette. It is also throwing a code for the neutral safety switch. According to all the Saab forums these problems are very common and are minor.

I normally wouldn't have bought a high mileage car but I couldn't pass the car up because it was taken care of so well. Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

Son surprises mom with her dream car, a 1973 Saab 99

Wed, Aug 13 2014

Often, it feels like the news is just a never-ending stream of one depressing headline after another. It can be so liberating to see something positive and uplifting every once in a while. Just look at the ecstatic expression on this mother's face after receiving her dream car from her son. Mom has some seriously quirky taste too: she isn't after a muscle car or a two-seat droptop; instead, it's a 1973 Saab 99 EMS in a very '70s shade of copper at the top of her wish list. According to the video, it took her son about a year to track down this hunk of Swedish steel and save up the money to purchase it. Though, judging from his mom's reaction, it was worth every penny. She puts together what's going on with the Saab pretty quickly and immediately starts swearing at her son – out of love, of course. If you're feeling a little blue, consider this a much-needed pick-me-up. Watching the unbridled joy of someone getting something that they always wanted just feels wonderful.

Saab 9-3 production to start in China in 2013 [UPDATE]

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

We knew that National Electric Vehicle Sweden planned to restart production of the last-gen Saab 9-3 at some point in the future, we just didn't know exactly when, or exactly where. As it turns out, the answers to those questions are soon, and China.
Though NEVS had initially said it will build vehicles in Sweden before shipping them to China, the latest report from Autocar suggests that the cars will instead be built right in Quingdao starting later in 2013. That's right, this calendar year. Also on the docket is a followup electric version of the 9-3, which is slated to come to market in 2014 in an effort to satiate China's wish that there be half a million EVs silently filling its streets within the next two years.
NEVS wants to be part of the EV solution, but it's not going to be easy. Naturally, if these cars are to be built in China, a factory has to be located or built, tooling needs to be in place, workers need to be hired and trained and a lengthy trail of paperwork has to be signed off by the government before even the well-known gasoline-powered 9-3 can be a reality, let along the unknown quantity that is the 9-3 ePower.

Petrolicious keeps our love of the Saab Sonett aflame

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

German auto designs lean toward function and purpose. Italian designers deliver passion and beauty. The Brits, majesty. American cars, brashness and authority. If you want a funky design, though, you go to Sweden. The land of cheap, do-it-yourself furniture and delicious meatballs knows a thing or six about style and design, and while that character is only now reemerging thanks to a certain string of Volvo concepts, it use to be that Saab was the authority on penning some of the industry's more unique designs.
Take the beautiful Sonett for example - a small coupe whose appearance is a funky mishmash of a Porsche 911 and a Bugeyed Sprite with just a hint of a Citroën DS (it's that convex rear window). It's a positively striking car, made more unique by its two-stroke, three-cylinder powertrain and four-on-the-tree manual transmission. With just 70 horsepower hauling about 1,500 pounds of Swedish style, the Sonett strikes us as an ideal alternative to some of the English sports cars of its day, particularly for those that are looking for something beyond your average MG or Triumph.
For Glenn Roberts, the Sonett was a part of his childhood. His family owned example was originally a special-order item by his parents in 1967. He bought the car from them 13 years later and has never looked back, completing a restoration in 2004. With a story like that, it's not surprising that Roberts and his silver Sonett are the most recent pairing to get some attention from Petrolicious.
