Up for sale is my well loved, well maintained Saab 9-3. All features and options are listed above, except the Thule roof rack which is included. It is also equipped with the Sport and Snow driving modes. This car is in exceptional shape for it's age and would make a great first car for your teen driver, an excellent 2nd family car or student commuter. I drove 64.9 miles, one way, everyday to work with it for over a year, and would not hesitate to jump in it and drive across country. This vehicle has always had regular oil/filter changes with Mobil 1 or Pennzoil synthetic oil and Bosch or Fram filters. It has had the tires rotated regularly as well, and currently has Pirelli P4 all-season radials on it with plenty of tread (see pics). Brakes are about a year old. All options function properly, but may need refrigerant (R-134a) in the a/c system this summer as cooling was dropping off near the end of the season last year. All lights, signals, horn, etc. function properly. The only issues are that the paint on the hood and roof is oxidized, and the middle seat belt reel in the rear is jammed. The car spent most of it's life on the west coast and when brought here to Virginia, the paint began to oxidize in those 2 spots (see pics). Currently has a Virginia Safety Inspection good thru January 2015. I also have many records from previous owner and will also include a service manual and a few parts that I have collected (spare coil pack, switches, etc). This car has given me zero problems, and the ONLY reason I am selling is because I came across a great deal on a car that I have always wanted to own.

First test drive shows promise of Saab 9-3 EV

We can't read Swedish, so when it comes to a first-drive review of a Saab 9-3 electric-vehicle prototype, we'll trust Inside EVs' translation of a write-up from Swedish automotive publication Elbilen i Sverige. And it's a decent one. The write-up, that is. The translation, too, we hope. Taken to the test track, the Saab was found to be quieter than a Tesla Model S and had the stability commensurate for a car that tipped the scales at about 4,000 pounds. The sedan accelerated from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 10 seconds, though the goal is to bring that time down to 8.5 seconds. The prototype also uses a 37-kWh prototype battery made by China-based Kai Johan Jiang Annual National Modern Energy Holdings that should be good for over 180 miles (and there's room for a bigger pack in the car, apparently). The 9-3's electric motor will be able to deliver 200 horsepower but, for testing purposes, it was limited to about 140 horsepower. The overall impression was that the car is not yet ready for prime time, but has a lot of promise. When prototype becomes production is the real question, given the financial condition of Saab parent National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS). The company acquired the brand in 2012 and started making cars at Saab's Trollhattan plant in Sweden last year, but production stopped in May because of cash-flow issues. Late last month, Swedish courts denied NEVS protection from its creditors, so the company is now looking to restructure.

Saab's Victor Muller wanted to nix Griffin, return to airplane emblem

According to Just-Auto.com Victor Muller wasn't a fan of the Saab Griffin logo. The executive was quoted as saying he wanted to "abolish" the Griffin logo and return to the airplane emblem. Muller made it clear that if he'd had his way, the propeller would have replaced the Griffin across the Saab lineup long ago.
National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the company that recently bought Saab, was forced to abandon the Griffin logo due to the fact that the emblem is still used by truck manufacturer Scania. The manufacturer is reportedly concerned about potential Chinese counterfeiting - NEVS is owned by Youngman, a Chinese automaker - though it's unclear how that relationship would lead to illegal copies.
Either way, NEVS has said the loss of the Griffin logo isn't that important to the company so long as it can continue to build on the Saab name. Muller, meanwhile, said he wishes NEVS luck in the company's electric-vehicle endeavor, but that he doesn't understand its new business model.

New owners still struggling to secure rights to use Saab name

Not to state the obvious, but if you're going to buy an automaker, it's probably advisable to secure rights to use the name.
That's what the new owners of Saab are trying to work out after buying the iconic Swedish automaker earlier this month, Automotive News reports.
National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), the Chinese-Japanese conglomerate, acquired the company's physical assets, including its factory in Trollhättan, but didn't get rights to use the Saab name and logo. Truckmaker Scania and defense company Saab AB maintain the name and logo rights, and will need to sign off on NEVS using it, according to the publication. The parties are in discussions.
