NO RESERVE L@@K !!! WOW !!!

Thanks for looking at another one of my classic car auctions... I have had this car since 2012 and really don't give it the attention a vehicle of this status deserves (MEANING IT'S SIMPLY JUST SITTING)... I purchased this car from an elderly doctors wife from Nashville, Tennessee. He had it for a great number of years and as his health declined so did his attention of this wonderful classic... Since I've had it I've spent well over $5,000 in upkeep and needed repairs as follows (all work was preformed by a local Rolls Royce repair facility in Northwest Illinois):

REBUILT front calipers (4) with proper Rolls Royce kits & stainless steel pistons

New front ROTORS from ALBERS BENTLEY ZIONSVILLE (NOT CHINA)

NEW FRONT & REAR BRAKE PADS from ALBERS BENTLEY ZIONSVILLE (NOT CHINA)

NEW NGK proper Spark plugs from BENTLEY DOWNERS GROVE (NOT AUTOZONE)

NEW REAR ACCUMULATORS & SEALS (BENTLEY ZIONSVILLE)

ALL NEW OEM DRIVE BELTS (BENTLEY ZIONSVILLE) NOT PEPBOYS !!!

CHANGED OIL & FILTER

NEW BATTERY

Antifreeze, transmission, diff, and power steering fluids flushed and changed as well... Mineral oil was flushed and bled during the installation of the rear accumulators.

All in all it's a strong running and  driving car and is roadworthy. All power windows work. Radio works but the antenna sticks once it reaches half way. Power door locks work 90% of the time and sometimes don't, (loose wire?)... A/C is cold, but only holds Freon for a a few months (slight leak, may be cheaper just to recharge every three months then fix). AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON !!! This happened when I let the battery go dead over the winter, it needs to be reset by a Rolls dealer (FOLEYS RR of Northbrook QUOTED ME $150). Oil pressure sending unit for the gauge is faulty, oil pressure is fine. It leaks a few drips of oil, but to be fair all of my 7 other Rolls Royce and Bentley's do... If I think of anything else I'll post it, but I feel it's all on the table...

Paint is a 6.5 out of 10... It has a few chips (mainly near the gas flap). One obnoxious scratch on the trunk about 1.5 inches long. The paint color is "MAGNOLIA" a very pretty color... Looks good or even great from 10 feet away, but after further inspection it has its fair share of cracks and wear to the paint. I would also like to mention I noticed previous paint work in areas (NOT FROM COLLISION) probably from up keep of higher standards earlier on in it's life. SHORT AND SWEET, I'd repaint it... But it's up to you...

The interior is also "MAGNOLIA" and features a saddle colored piping and dash. The leather is free of ant tears or rips. Being an off white it will need to be dyed to look new. The wood was redone on all four doors and looks good. carpets are ok too... I have all tools and took kit. I cannot get the center caps to stay on, I put them in the trunks for safe keeping...

MY LOSS IS YOUR GAIN... I AM SELLING OFF MY COLLECTION TO PURCHASE A LATE MODEL BENTLEY GT... I THINK IT MAKES MUCH MORE SENSE FOR ME TO HAVE A LATER MODEL CAR VERSES A DOZEN OLDER ONES NEEDING MINOR TLC... I WILL BE SELLING my 1964 Bentley S3 Project and my BEAUTIFUL 1965 Bentley S3 next... I have sold several Rolls Royce and Bentley recently and have 100% feedback. My car is sold "as is" and is subject to local interest and I have it on other sites. Rolls-Royce Wraith Eagle VIII commemorates 1919 transatlantic flight

Thu, May 23 2019

Rolls-Royce is building a 50-car limited edition of the Wraith called the Eagle VIII that will debut at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este event at the Lake Como. The vehicle commemorates two pilots that completed the first non-stop transatlantic flight 100 years ago. The story behind the flight is fascinating: Captain John Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Brown flew all the way from St John's in Newfoundland to Clifden, County Galway, Ireland, in a WWI Vickers Vimy bomber. The aircraft's engines were two 20.3-liter Rolls-Royce Eagle VII units, and it appears the engines were the only reliable thing on the flight apart from the crew themselves: the radio and navigation instruments failed right at the beginning of the journey as the wind-driven electrical generator broke, which also meant there was no heating. Because of this, the men had to rely on stars to find Ireland, when dense clouds finally subsided. And it's the clouds and stars that form the centerpieces of the special edition car. The headliner contains 1,183 fibers that light up to form the celestial arrangement at the time of the flight in 1919, with the exact moment when the Vickers plane emerged from the clouds highlighted in red. The decorative wood has silver and copper inlays so it resembles a night-time Earth seen from above. Plaques read "The celestial arrangement at the halfway point 00:17am June 15 1919, 50" 07' Latitude North – 31" Longitude West", and next to the brass speaker grilles, there is a Winston Churchill quote commending the crew, the plane and their unprecedented achievement. "I do not know what we should most admire - their audacity, determination, skill, science, their aeroplane, their Rolls-Royce engines - or their good fortune", it reads. The crash-landing location coordinates are engraved below the dashboard clock. The 1,880-mile ordeal with no heat, occasional snow and a constant barrage of noise from burst exhaust piping took Alcock and Brown 15 hours and 57 minutes, at an average speed of 115 mph. Both aviators were awarded the honor of Knights Commanders of the British Empire by King George V. Alcock later perished after crashing another Vickers plane en route to the Paris Airshow in December 1919. Brown passed away at the age of 62 in 1948. Other detailing on the two-tone Gunmetal and Selby Grey car is also related to the record-breaking Vickers plane, including the black grille vanes that mimic the plane's engine cowling.

BMW preparing two concepts for Villa d'Este

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

Every spring, the finest automobiles ever to grace tarmac gather on the shores of Lake Como for the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. It's a chance for the most beautiful classics to compete for awards and for automakers and design studios to show off their concept cars under the soft light of the Italian sun. But while most of the vehicles old and new that show up for the concours are ones we've seen before, BMW takes things a step further.
As patron of the concorso d'eleganza for the past ten years, BMW regularly cooks up something new for the glamorous extravaganza. Last year it teamed up with Pininfarina for the Gran Lusso Coupé and revealed it alongside the Concept 90 motorcycle. The year before that came the BMW Zagato Coupe, preceded by the 328 Hommage and the M1 Hommage (pictured above) before it.
The theme for this year's event is the Roaring Twenties. BMW may not have been known back then on the same level as Bugatti or Duesenberg, but Rolls-Royce sure was.

Drive like a prince: Join us for a walk through Monaco's car collection

Fri, Dec 29 2023

Small, crowded, and a royal pain in the trunk lid to drive into during rush hour, Monaco sounds like an improbable location for a huge car museum. And yet, this tiny city-state has been closely linked to car culture for over a century. It hosts two major racing events every year, many of its residents would qualify for a frequent shopper card if Rolls-Royce issued one, and Prince Rainier III began assembling a collection of cars in the late 1950s. He opened his collection to the public in 1993 and the museum quickly turned into a popular tourist attraction. The collection continued to grow after his death in April 2005; it moved to a new facility located right on Hercules Port in July 2022. Monaco being Monaco, you'd expect to walk into a room full of the latest, shiniest, and most powerful supercars ever to shred a tire. That's not the case: while there is no shortage of high-horsepower machines, the first cars you see after paying ˆ10 (approximately $11) to get in are pre-war models. In that era, the template for the car as we know it in 2023 hadn't been created, so an eclectic assortment of expensive and dauntingly experimental machines roamed whatever roads were available to them. One is the Leyat Helica, which was built in France in 1921 with a 1.2-liter air-cooled flat-twin sourced from the world of aviation. Fittingly, the two-cylinder spun a massive, plane-like propeller. Government vehicles get a special spot in the museum. They range from a Cadillac Series 6700 with an amusing blend of period-correct French-market yellow headlights and massive fins to a 2011 Lexus LS 600h with a custom-made transparent roof panel that was built by Belgian coachbuilder Carat Duchatelet for Prince Albert II's wedding. Here's where it all gets a little weird: you've got a 1952 Austin FX3, a Ghia-bodied 1959 Fiat 500 Jolly, a 1960 BMW Isetta, and a 1971 Lotus Seven. That has to be someone's idea of a perfect four-car garage.  One of the most significant cars in the collection lurks in the far corner of the main hall, which is located a level below the entrance. At first glance, it's a kitted-out Renault 4CV with auxiliary lights, a racing number on the front end, and a period-correct registration number issued in the Bouches-du-Rhone department of France. It doesn't look all that different than the later, unmodified 4CV parked right next to it. Here's what's special about it: this is one of the small handful of Type 1063 models built by Renault for competition.
