Up for auction is a one owner, non smoker, always garaged, low low low miles, pristine, immaculate, perfect, spectacular, one of a kind (condition wise) 1986 Rolls Royce Silver Spur that has spent it's entire life in Southern California. There is NO better premium example of a used Rolls Royce than this car! Tags are good until December 2014 in California.
Everything works on the car with the exception of one item: the rear passenger side window. The window goes down but does not go up. Other than this one item everything else is functional as far as I can tell (including the a/c blowing cold). However, due to the age of the car I am not responsible for anything that does NOT work upon purchasing the car. Something could stop working the next time the car is started! However, at the time of this auction everything except the window is functional. The car looks, drives and smells like the day it was delivered. As you can tell from the photos it is in excellent condition (thanks to our beautiful Southern CA weather and the fact that we don't drive our luxury cars in the rain!). The car will be sold so I am starting the auction off at only $9,995.00 with no reserve above this amount. In other words a bid of $9,996.00 (or higher will buy the car!). Home of Rolls-Royce Collection makes debut at the Quail
Sat, 17 Aug 2013Rolls-Royce is marking 10 years of production at its Goodwood, England home, with the aptly named Home of Rolls-Royce Collection. The first instance of the Collection, a brilliantly appointed Phantom, has come to The Quail to make its world debut.
The goal of the Home of Rolls-Royce Collection seems to be to really showcase the kind of pristine, detailed work that the artisans back in Goodood are capable off, while creating a car that almost instantly achieves heirloom status. The Phantom seen here displays a truly impressive wood paneled cabin, where a technique called marquetry has been used to inlay some 170 sections of 11 different types of wood into a "celebration" motif.
You'll find a compass theme throughout the car as well - inside and out - which the company tells us is meant to highlight the sales of Goodwood-built Rollers on five continents across the world. Compass designs can be found on the armrests and center console, with each piece of embroidery taking more than 100,000 stitches to create. Not to be outdone in terms of time lavished, the compass motif painted on the exterior of the car takes one squirrel-hair-brush-wielding craftsman six hours to perfectly apply.
Man orders $20M-worth of Rolls-Royce Phantoms
Fri, 19 Sep 2014The term "luxury" gets thrown around a lot when speaking about vehicles that are actually somewhat affordable like BMWs and Cadillacs, but Rolls-Royce and hotel magnate Stephen Hung (above in the wild suit) are proving what real opulence really is with the largest single order from the fabled British marque, ever. Hung is purchasing 30 custom examples of the Phantom Extended Wheelbase (pictured right) for $20 million. To push the deal even further over the top, two of the Phantoms are the most expensive examples ever commissioned.
This assemblage of über-luxury sedans isn't for Hung's personal collection. Instead, the cars are going to be part of the fleet for the swanky hotel and casino that he's opening in Macau, China, in 2016 called the Louis XIII. According to The Washington Post, when the 200-room resort opens, the Louis XIII is supposed to be one of the most mind-blowing places in the world, including a suite that costs $100,000 a night.
When completed, the 30 cars will be in matching crimson red to echo the exterior of the hotel. That color will be carried into the interior trim, as well, including the gauges, and the seats will have a checker board pattern. Each one will be outfitted with a bespoke clock from Graff Luxury Watches. The two most expensive Phantoms will get all of this attention, plus gold-plated trim covering the interior and exterior.
BMW shuffles chairs in its design department
Sun, 22 Sep 2013BMW Group has made some changes to its design team since August 1, and has shuffled top personnel to different positions at BMW Design, Mini Design and Rolls-Royce.
The BMW Design team led by Karim Habib (middle, right) gains a new head of Exterior Design in Domagoj Dukec (right), who has worked for the exterior design team since 2010 and shaped the Concept Active Tourer.
Oliver Heilmer (left), who has worked for BMW's interior design unit since 2000 and designed the 5 Series interior, replaces Marc Girard as head of Interior Design BMW Automobiles. Marc Girard goes to manage BMW's subsidiary design group, BMW DesignworksUSA.
