1985 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit

The Silver Spirit, introduced by Rolls-Royce in 1980, was the first of a new generation of models for the company, and, with a 120” wheelbase, is the standard length sedan, 4” shorter than the Spur.

The Spirit offered here, of 1985 vintage, is a true one-California owner car from new. With a Carfax certified and genuine 95,000 miles from new, the car shows exceptionally well in the timeless colour combination of white, with tan leather interior, piped in cream, with burr walnut accents.

The body of the car is in excellent condition, straight and dent-free, paint is excellent and original, with no evidence of accident damage or repair. Brightwork is excellent, as are wheels, tires, etc.

The leather surfaces of the interior are in great condition, with very minor wear. Carpets are excellent under original mouton overmats with footrests in the rear, dash, headliner and panels are all excellent. The wood veneer is very good with no delamination or cracking.

The car has been regularly serviced and exceptionally well. This is truly one of the best driving Rolls-Royces of the era I have ever experienced. The great 6.75l Rolls-Royce engine is smooth and has great power. The transmission is super-smooth, brakes are excellent, as is steering and suspension. All electrical systems work as they should, with cold AC. The car really needs nothing, and I would honestly drive it anywhere. The car comes complete with original books and keys.

This is a great opportunity to purchase a piece of English classic elegance in astonishing driving condition, at very reasonable cost.

Rolls-Royce goes glam, celebrates Art Deco heritage in Paris

Thu, 27 Sep 2012

Rolls-Royce has used the 2012 Paris Motor Show to pull the covers off its art deco-inspired Phantom saloon, Phantom Drophead Coupé and Ghost models. These three bespoke machines are said to pay homage to the 1925 Paris Exhibition or Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. Not coincidentally, the phrase 'art deco' was coined at that very show.
These three models are finished in period-correct color schemes and feature details that include mother of pearl and silver inlays and ornamental glassware. According to Giles Taylor, Design Director Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, "Art Deco was defined by theatre, glamour and a sense of excitement. Working to create contemporary interpretations of these classic themes has been enormously rewarding for everyone in my bespoke design team." But of course.
Feel free to check out our live gallery of high-res images above along with the official shots released by Rolls-Royce below. There's also a press release or two waiting for your prying eyes, if you're so inclined.

Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe Waterspeed Collection is a real land yacht

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

There aren't very many better places to show the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé Waterspeed Collection than at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Not only is this aquatic-themed land yacht parked on the Concept Car Lawn appropriately very near the Pacific Ocean, it's being seen by some of the most wealthy car enthusiasts in the world on one afternoon.
The car actually debuted in May in Europe, but Rolls-Royce decided to show it again to West Coast customers. This luxury droptop is dedicated to former British waterspeed record-holder Sir Malcolm Campbell, hence the name. Campbell used a boat powered by a Rolls-Royce R engine to reach 126.33 miles per hour in 1937 on a lake in Italy and break the old milestone. Later, he took the same craft to 129.5 mph to further establish his dominance.
The Phantom Waterspeed takes inspiration from these accomplishments with a two-tone look that mixes shining Maggiore Blue exterior paint and a brushed steel tonneau cover to replace the normal teak. The blue color scheme even extends to the engine and interior trim in combination with contrasting Windchill Grey leather. Rolls isn't building many of these marine-inspired leviathans; check one out on the lawn at Pebble Beach in our gallery.

Rolls-Royce Wraith convertible spied sliding in the snow

Wed, Mar 18 2015

Rolls-Royce may be on the verge of producing its first crossover, but it's a different prototype we're looking at here, frolicking in the snow. It's the convertible version of the Wraith, which Rolls-Royce is preparing to join the existing fastback coupe and the Ghost sedan in its "entry-level" lineup. Only we don't expect it to be called the Wraith Drophead Coupe like its larger counterpart, the Phantom DHC, but to go with an entirely different name (just as the aforementioned fastback took to distinguish itself from the sedan). Expect Goodwood to pull another suitably poltergeist-related nameplate from its archives (or from the netherworld) to slap on its new drop-top. Otherwise, we can expect the Wraith convertible (or whatever it's ultimately called) to closely mirror its fixed-roof counterpart, complete with suicide doors and a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12, when it arrives sometime in the middle of next year.
