1972 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Long Wheelbase

Rolls-Royce all-time contemporary classic Silver Shadow defines the last of the best. Truly after this series, the term classic no longer applies.

All is still great for this revered marque but its visual and even prestige identities took on a whole new meaning with a new audience who will create their own history.

Time will define it.Collectors, and appreciators all agree that the most desirable of the Silver Shadow series automobiles are the pre-1973 (and smog exempt) beautiful chrome bumper editions.

Ultimately, the Long Wheelbase models are the most sought-after, with the stretch being four inches in the rear area providing a copious amount of rear passenger luxury.

Additionally the smaller privacy rear window and Everflex roof accentuates the Rolls-Royce statement of elegance and prestige.

This examples general overall condition is very good with ageing that can be defined as patina.

Exterior paintwork is in very presentable condition with no evidence of rust in any areas A very solid body is obvious. The brightwork is very presentable and in a good state of preserve.

The interior is commensurate with the cars age. The leather, while having been redyed, still has many years of life left. All of the beautiful veneered dash and window cappings will eventually need attention but for now has lots of usage left as they are.

Mechanically the car runs and drives as a Rolls-Royce of this vintage should with the engine running smoothly and all other performance and handling, systems in good general order.

Now is the time to reward yourself with owning this most affordable prestige classic automobile.

A minimal cash outlay will provide years of pleasure with savvy investment appreciation as your added bonus.

Rick Ross crashes Rolls-Royce in drive-by attempt [w/video]

Tue, 29 Jan 2013

Rap star and exotic-car enthusiast, Rick Ross, had a double-close call on Monday morning, escaping harm in what appears to be an attempted drive-by shooting.
According to Fort Lauderdale Police, Ross was driving his 2011 Rolls-Royce Ghost (pictured) with his girlfriend, Shateria Moragne-el, as a passenger at 5:00 AM on Monday. An unnamed gunman in another vehicle opened fire on Ross' car, causing the rapper to turn a corner, lose control of the vehicle and eventually crash into the wall of an apartment complex. Neither Ross nor Moragne-el was injured, despite reports that "dozens" of ammo casings were found at the crime scene.
Ross had been out celebrating his birthday on Sunday night; at nearby restaurant Floridian and a club called LIV in Miami Beach. Reports indicate that the restaurant was also the target of gunfire - some 15 shots that "sounded like they came from a high-powered rifle."

Rolls-Royce builds one of its smallest cars ever

Wed, Mar 1 2017

Kid-size versions of expensive cars are nothing new, and a handful have come out in the past year. McLaren released a tiny iteration of its P1, and Morgan did the same with its EV3. Rolls-Royce has joined the crowd with its new Rolls-Royce SRH. Unlike those other British automakers, though, Rolls only built one, and it went to a good home. The car was built for the St. Richard's Hospital Pediatric Day Surgery Unit, located in the same town as Rolls-Royce headquarters. The car also gets its SRH name from the hospital. It was provided to St. Richard's for patients to drive down to the operating theater. The hallway to the theater is decorated with road signs, too. Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos said in a press release, "We hope that the Rolls-Royce SRH will serve to make the experience for young people during treatment a little less stressful." Also, just because the SRH is small doesn't mean less care was taken to build it. The same attention to detail Rolls-Royce brings to its large vehicles is on display here. For one thing, it was built by the Bespoke Manufacturing division, which builds specially customized models for clients. The car also features contemporary Rolls-Royce design features such as self-righting wheel centers, and an interior designed to precisely match the red coachline along the blue and silver body. Of course, there's also a small example of the Spirit of Ecstasy on the hood. Rolls even had a special unveiling for a couple of the hospital's patients at the factory, and allowed them to motor around the factory floor. Powering the little car is an electric motor coupled to a 24 volt battery. Speed is controlled via paddles behind the steering wheel, and it has a top speed of 10 mph, though that speed can be limited to 4 mph. After all, the car is going to a hospital, and there's no need to have inexperienced drivers causing additional injuries. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Rolls-Royce could go electric, if battery tech advances

Thu, Sep 17 2015

After toying with the idea a few year ago, Rolls-Royce isn't ready to completely give up on the idea of an electric model quite yet. Still, a hyper-luxurious EV from the opulent brand might not happen any time soon. "Suppose we find a battery technology that can offer ranges that are acceptable to our customers," brand boss Torsten Muller-Otvos said, according to Automotive News. "I can definitely imagine a fully electric Rolls-Royce." Muller-Otvos was clear that no final decision on an EV or even a much-rumored plug-in hybrid has been made yet. Rumors of an EV from the brand go back years. At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Rolls-Royce showed that it wasn't completely against going electric. The 102EX concept (pictured above) was based on a Phantom but with two, 194-horsepower electric motors and a 71-kWh battery to power them. The company claimed the behemoth had an estimated range of 124 miles and could hit 60 miles per hour in under eight seconds. At least one journalist even got to drive it. However, the brand's wealthy customers reportedly weren't convinced, and the project was canned. In 2014, several reports began suggesting a plug-in hybrid Rolls under development that would answer concerns about range and charging time amongst the clientele. This powertrain could debut on the next-gen Phantom around 2017, and it's likely to be borrowed from parent company BMW.
