1967 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow on 2040-cars
Norwalk, Connecticut, United States
Rarely do Silver Shadows as original and as well cared for as
this one come on the market. This gorgeous car has just 56,000 original miles
and has been beautifully maintained its entire life. As evidence of that there
are copious receipts for the tens of thousands of dollars that have been lavished on it
over the years. For many years this car was owned and displayed by the esteemed Rolls
Royce Foundation in their museum as a quintessential example of the Silver
Shadow model. Finished in Brewster Green
with Parchment Connolly leather the body is razor straight. It has had a
documented repaint to the highest standard and still shows beautifully. This
car has absolutely no rust and to our knowledge has never suffered any damage whatsoever. The interior is 100% original and gorgeous. The leather
shows the patina of gentle use over these last 46, years. The woodwork is also
original and shows the typical , subtle aging of the clear coat. Carpets are
mint, headliner excellent… overall a really lovely interior. The engine compartment shows well and is all original, as is
the trunk area. The underside has never been detailed, rather it is original but
very tidy. Full disclosure: there is an issue with the car which is the
result of a design flaw at Rolls Royce back in the 1960’s. It was very common
for the cam bearings to wear prematurely, and that is the case with this car.
It runs perfectly well as is, but there is a slight noise from these
chronically worn bearings. Because of this issue we have placed what we feel is
a very fair reserve on the car.
We have been in the business of selling European car for 27
years and our reputation for quality
cars is unmatched. ( deGarmoLtd.com ) Please feel free to call with any
questions 203.852.1670. The car is located in Connecticut and it available for
inspection by appointment. Matt deGarmo |

Watch the other new Top Gear host rap about a Rolls-Royce
Tue, Feb 16 2016The rebooted Top Gear revealed its full slate of new co-hosts last week, complete with a lineup of names and faces we know – and one we don't. That's Rory Reid, the one new host chosen from public auditions. Though most of us many never have seen his face or heard his voice, he's not new to reviewing cars on video. In addition to hosting automotive videos for CNET and Sky television, Reid is also automotive editor for a British video series called Recombu. Most of the reviews he's done for the YouTube channel are pretty straightforward, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of whatever he's driving – from a Bentley Continental GT Speed or Range Rover Sport SVR to a Mini JCW or Peugeot 308 GTI. But when it came to the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Rory was evidently moved to take things in a different (and original) direction. Instead of simply describing the luxury sedan as most automotive journalists would, Reid rapped about it. The result is a pretty novel take on the usual car review, and no doubt helped him secure the spot on the revived BBC program alongside the likes of Chris Evans, Chris Harris, Eddie Jordan, Sabine Schmitz, Matt LeBlanc, and of course the Stig. See for yourself in the video above, and check out his other reviews in the playlist below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Lucky ducks rescued, ride in a Rolls-Royce to their new Goodwood home
Wed, Aug 18 2021The phrase "put it on the bill" has taken on a new meaning at Rolls-Royce's Goodwood, England, factory. The firm now shares its headquarters with 15 ducks that were rescued earlier in 2020 and re-released as adults. Rolls-Royce explained that James Caffrey, one of its security guards, spotted a group of seven ducklings in a company parking lot in April 2020. He spent several hours observing the unexpected visitors from a distance before realizing that the mother duck wasn't coming back. Concerned, he captured the birds with the help of colleagues and sent them to the Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital, which cares for sick, injured, and orphaned animals. Brent Lodge's goal is to release animals back into their natural habitat as soon as possible, not to keep them in captivity. The seven siblings were reared into adulthood and sent back to Rolls-Royce's headquarters, along with eight additional ducks that were also rescued locally. The group traveled to Goodwood in the back of a Cullinan, an honor that few humans — let alone birds — experience. They traveled in cages, letting ducks loose in an SUV would be disastrous, and Rolls-Royce joked its engineers are now looking into using ducks as a unit to measure trunk space. Rolls-Royce's new tenants live near the lakes that are next to its factory, so they're fully self-sufficient. There is enough food available to sustain the entire clan. We don't know whether they'll be asked to contribute something in exchange for living at Goodwood; the 250,000 bees the firm keeps make honey that's exclusively served to guests, like customers who fly in to pick up a car. If duck eggs come with your new Phantom, you'll know why. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
