Beautiful 2011 Rolls Royce Phantom Spirit of Ecstasy Centenary for Sale. This was a special year for Rolls Royce, as it celebrated 100 years of its legendary mascot, the Spirit of Ecstasy. And to mark the occasion, Rolls produced a special run of commemorative Phantoms. The special edition is differentiated from the rest of the Phantoms you'll see with a series of unique touches. This particular example is finished in Ethereal White Pearl and Sea Shell White Interior with Tropical Veneer and Dark Wenge/Ebony. The interior also features a number of special accents only found on this very limited production car. They are:

  • Cast in silver, each Spirit of Ecstasy featured a base complete with black-gold plated bezel bearing the commemorative inscription "Spirit of Ecstasy Centenary - 2011", a legend repeated on the cover plate when the mascot is lowered. The design is finished with a set of six hallmarks, two of which have been designed specifically for Rolls-Royce.
  • A new badge was developed to authenticate the Collection. Located beneath the Spirit of Ecstasy, on the trunk lid as well as on front side panels, the badge reverses conventional design, with white enamel RR detail set on a black chrome background.
  • A trademark Rolls-Royce twin coachline is accentuated on Collection cars by a hand-painted Spirit of Ecstasy insignia, the detail of which has been taken from an original line-drawing by Charles Sykes, the mascot's creator.
  • The glove box lid carries an original Sykes quotation embossed into the colour-matched leather lining: "A graceful little goddess, the Spirit of Ecstasy, who has selected road travel as her supreme delight and alighted on the prow of a Rolls-Royce motor car to revel in the freshness of the air and the musical sound of her fluttering draperies." – Charles Sykes, 1911.
  • An analogue clock fitted in the fascia panel, the outer bezel of which is crafted from Britannia Silver, incorporating the unique set of six hallmarks. The backlit face presents an inner ring of silver incorporating the centenary inscription.
  • Instrument dials complement the clock design. Satin spun metal dials, centered with polished RR monograms are further enriched with polished chaplets and black numerals.
  • The lid of the centre console reveals a solid Britannia Silver commemorative plaque engraved with the inscription "Spirit of Ecstasy - One of One Hundred".
  • Four exclusive exterior colour options were offered: (1) Rhapsody Black, a black metallic incorporating a gold sparkle, (2) Maiden Blue, a deep blue metallic with a silver sparkle, (3) Ethereal White Pearl, with a special pearlescent finish, (4) Wildflower, a rich blend of red and brown colour with a fine sparkle.
  • A selection of leather and interior contrast schemes. Hand crafted banding of Britannia Silver was inset into the veneer.

This particular example is in impeccable condition and equipped with high definition radio, iPod integration, satellite, navigation, starburst headliner, Complete rear curtains in oyster, camera system, voice processing, exposed twin exhaust tips, along with all the unique Spirit of Ecstasy touches mentioned above.

Neglected Rolls-Royce Phantom may be the saddest of all time

Fri, 30 May 2014

Rolls-Royce prides itself on exemplifying the pinnacle of automotive elegance. The brand is synonymous with quality and luxury. However, in the end even a Rolls is still just a car, and if you don't keep it up, it's bound to fail. That deterioration can be seriously fun to watch, though.
This 2005 Rolls-Royce Phantom might now be one of the worst cars on the planet and only has a little over 95,000 miles on it. The video claims that the original owner in New Jersey didn't make payments on the car for three years but rented the sedan out to people and used it for a livery service. Now, it's repossessed and would probably cost more to fix than it's worth.
This Phantom has had a hard life. We don't want to spoil too many of the broken pieces because they pile up to become increasingly absurd. However, the pièce de résistance must to be the broken Spider-Man umbrella in the door.

Rolls-Royce rolls out specials at Dubai show

Sun, Nov 15 2015

True to style, Rolls-Royce arrived at the Dubai Motor Show this year with some new special-edition wheels. Leading the charge was the Golf Edition of the Ghost. Ordered up specially by the local importer, the Golf edition "takes its inspiration from the fairways to appeal to discerning sportsmen, incorporating design cues and materials that evoke the history of this gentleman's sport." What that translates to in practical terms (as if a Rolls-Royce could ever be considered "practical") is a two-tone paint job of dark green and beige and a three-tone interior treatment of light cream, dark green, and deep red. The cabin is also augmented by the requisite starlight headliner, custom picnic tables, and lambswool floor mats. Tartan-lined door pockets, mahogany and persimmon wood veneers, and other special touches round out the unique treatment aimed at golf enthusiasts. The special Ghost was joined as well by the one-of-a-kind Tiger edition of the Phantom Coupe. This unique take on Goodwood's big two-door boasts a rather unsubtle paint scheme of dark and light orange, complimented by a tiger-motif coachline. Fortunately things are relatively more toned-down inside, with tan and beige leather and a proliferation of custom accents to conjure the large striped feline. The pair follow hot on the heels of the 1001 Nights edition of the Ghost that was introduced in the UAE mere weeks ago. Rolls also took the occasion to showcase the new Dawn convertible and the Wraith Inspired by Music edition at the Dubai show. Both are based on the same architecture, the former with a fabric top and the latter – revealed this past summer – with a fixed roof and trim drawn from the recording industry. Scope out the lineup in the image gallery above and the press release below. Related Video: ROLLS-ROYCE MOTOR CARS REDEFINES SUPER- LUXURY BESPOKE MOTORING AT THE DUBAI INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW Rolls-Royce Motor Cars reaffirmed its mantle as the undisputed pinnacle of Bespoke automotive luxury with the unveiling of Phantom Coupe Tiger, Ghost Golf and Wraith 'Inspired by Music' at the Dubai International Motor Show, on a day that also saw the Rolls-Royce Dawn make its first public appearance in the region.

Rolls-Royce gives up on electric, diesel models in favor of hybrid

Mon, Sep 29 2014

Rolls-Royce is not what you might characterize as one of the greenest automakers on the market. Its vehicles tend to be rather large, saddled with lots of plush leather, thick carpets and wood trim, and powered by twelve-cylinder engines in excess of six and a half liters. But that doesn't mean that the stoic British automaker isn't trying to clean up its act, even if its customers haven't responded in kind. Rolls did not receive a single order for the all-electric Phantom. A few years ago, Rolls-Royce showcased an all-electric Phantom prototype called the 102EX (pictured above) and sent it on a global tour to demonstrate to customers around the world. But in speaking to company representatives, Autocar reports that Rolls did not receive a single order for such a vehicle. Nor did customers respond favorably to the idea of a diesel Rolls-Royce. Prospective and existing clients exhibited "significant hostility" towards the idea, despite a diesel prototype that was "effectively inaudible" in comparison to the existing gasoline models while delivering torque-driven performance which the company characterized as "impressive" while significantly reducing carbon emissions. As a result, the diesel project was killed off just like the electric one. That doesn't mean that Rolls-Royce is giving up, though. In the wake of the diesel and electric projects, Goodwood is reportedly proceeding with a hybrid powertrain borrowed from parent company BMW, which offers a wide array of hybrids including versions of 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series sedans, the X6 crossover and the i3 and i8 PHEVs.
