Rolls-Royce commissions a Faberge egg

What you see above, is probably the equivalent of the movie The Avengers, but for the ultra-filthy-rich. It's the ultimate crossover of luxury brands, Rolls-Royce, and the famed jewelry company Faberge. It's a special egg made by the jeweler that's themed around the luxury car builder. And naturally, it's an "Imperial Class" egg. This means it's similar in size, complexity and quality to the original 50 made for the Russian royal family, the very ones that helped make Faberge so famous. It's also only the second to be commissioned, since. The other was commissioned by a Middle Eastern jewelry group. The egg is quite modern and simple in design. It stands about 6 inches tall, and it weighs nearly a pound. A rock crystal Spirit of Ecstasy sits in the middle, surrounded by arcing arms. Each arm is made of rose gold with 390 carats of amethyst and 10 carats of white diamonds. The whole egg sits on a machine-turned white gold base with a purple enamel coat. Like many Faberge eggs, this has mechanical workings. Pressing a lever causes the many arms to descend, making the Spirit of Ecstasy visible. The egg will be on display at Faberge's London store this December for the public to see. After that, Rolls-Royce says it will be heading for the home of a private collector of both Rolls-Royce and Faberge creations. Rolls-Royce bestows Canton Glory Ghost upon Guangzhou

Wonder why Rolls-Royce makes so many special editions for the Chinese market? Probably because China is fast becoming its largest market, with the dealerships in Beijing and Shanghai regularly proving able to move more high-end metal than any other Rolls dealer in the world. Little wonder then that, less than two months after releasing the Golden Sunbird edition, Rolls-Royce Bespoke is back again with another special Ghost just for China.
This time it's called the Canton Glory edition. It was introduced recently at Auto Guangzhou, and pays tribute to the Canton Tower in the same city. Two examples were made with a two-tone color scheme contrasting burgundy with either a blueish silver or white. Other features include Guangzhou's Five Rams emblem in the coachline, veneer panels, headrests and dashboard.
We don't doubt Rolls will find (or probably already has found) a pair of Chinese industrialists to gladly take these special editions home. But for those looking for their own unique touches, the British automaker has also brought its Bespoke Atelier to China for the first time, outlining the range of possibilities open to their moneyed customers.

Rolls-Royce builds one of its smallest cars ever

Kid-size versions of expensive cars are nothing new, and a handful have come out in the past year. McLaren released a tiny iteration of its P1, and Morgan did the same with its EV3. Rolls-Royce has joined the crowd with its new Rolls-Royce SRH. Unlike those other British automakers, though, Rolls only built one, and it went to a good home. The car was built for the St. Richard's Hospital Pediatric Day Surgery Unit, located in the same town as Rolls-Royce headquarters. The car also gets its SRH name from the hospital. It was provided to St. Richard's for patients to drive down to the operating theater. The hallway to the theater is decorated with road signs, too. Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos said in a press release, "We hope that the Rolls-Royce SRH will serve to make the experience for young people during treatment a little less stressful." Also, just because the SRH is small doesn't mean less care was taken to build it. The same attention to detail Rolls-Royce brings to its large vehicles is on display here. For one thing, it was built by the Bespoke Manufacturing division, which builds specially customized models for clients. The car also features contemporary Rolls-Royce design features such as self-righting wheel centers, and an interior designed to precisely match the red coachline along the blue and silver body. Of course, there's also a small example of the Spirit of Ecstasy on the hood. Rolls even had a special unveiling for a couple of the hospital's patients at the factory, and allowed them to motor around the factory floor. Powering the little car is an electric motor coupled to a 24 volt battery. Speed is controlled via paddles behind the steering wheel, and it has a top speed of 10 mph, though that speed can be limited to 4 mph.
