Rolls-Royce Corniche II
1986
Definitely NOT your average Corniche Convertible
This stunning Rolls-Royce Corniche II is finished in Claret red with hand-painted gold fine-lines to the waist-rail and hubcap beauty rings. The interior is finished in biscuit tan Connolly hides with coordinating beige carpets throughout.
She sports a very low 28,000 miles and is a well maintained example. Very, clean, very straight and entirely original throughout. As testimony, we did not even clean under the hood for the photos. This is how she came to us.
This Corniche II is in quite special condition and requires considerable explanation, so I kindly ask your indulgence in what may appear a rather long-winded description.
We all know Rolls-Royces are hand-made cars, but what few know is the Corniche was the true bespoke manufactured Rolls-Royce. The body shells were hand-made in Italy and shipped to Rolls-Royce in Crewe where they were all re-worked to Rolls-Royces rigid standards. Because of the relatively small production run on the Corniche, many of them vary in engineering specifications from car to car and in most cases, it is almost impossible to find two exact built cars. To the non-discerning eye this would not be detectable but the purist would note subtle differences between these cars – even if they were only one chassis number apart. Each car was built and fine-tuned in such a way to achieve the best possible ride, performance and operation specific to each build. Because of this very “unique” approach there is no wonder why these cars were so expensive when new. There is also no surprise that no 2 cars drive “exactly” the same. Torsion strength was a big issue on the Corniche and as a result, it is quite common to drive a Corniche and feel it “wabble” and “rattle” on bumpy road-surfaces whilst others displaying a far more salubrious ride.
This particular Corniche being offered today is one such special car. In 30 years of collecting Rolls-Royces, I have rarely driven a Corniche with such a tight and well “held together” ride as this one.
Mechanically, the car is excellent. Like all of Park-Ward's
cars it is subject to our full work-shop and predelivery commissioning process
to ensure all is in top shape. When this car is driven, it truly glides
smoothly and effortlessly. Even over rough road surfaces, it displays no
knocks, rattles or thumps – it is very “tight” indeed. The presentation under
the hood, NOT cleaned for photos, is excellent testimony to its well maintained
and low mileage ownership.
The interior of the car is gorgeous. It is completely original with all the leather untouched and the factory finish but still looking great. If you look closely at the pictures you can see complete originality in all aspects. The door arm rests, for example, show absolutely no wear. The driver side seat squab has some very minor scuffing on the edge but we did not touch it up to show its originality. (A free-of-charge Connollising touch-up is offered to interested buyers - all done in-house by the Park-Ward Motor Museum's own expert artisans). The wood throughout is also all original and in great condition. As a bonus, through the grace of Mother Nature, the burl walnut grain on this wood set is very defined and rich with a lot of “knots”. It looks magnificent. The door cappings are almost blemish free with the dash and console wood showing some minor lacquer fracturing. Certainly minimal and way better than any average or typical examples. Once again, the Park-Ward Motors Museum has a full in-house Rolls-Royce wood restoration service and we can redo this if you please. In my professional opinion, it is minor enough to not touch it and with the benefit of "keeping it original", I would leave it alone, but this can be the buyer's call. We are happy to accommodate you either way. Carpets, dash, moutons, roof cover "boot" are all in excellent condition. In fact the carpets have always been covered by the Rolls-Royce factory moutons so are truly like new underneath.
All features on the car work as they should. A/C is ice cold, heater is hot and climate control works as it should. All windows work, including the rear seat 1/4 glasses which are famous for not working at all. Electric seats are working well and are not “tired”. All gauges are working, as are all the dash lights and interior lights. The convertible top on the car is in excellent shape and works well without complications. The rear window is completely clear, the signs of a low mileage well housed car.
So, this is obviously not your average Corniche II convertible. It was purchased new in 1986 and after its first “regular” driver/owner of 15 years it has been care-taken by an enthusiast and professional Rolls-Royce collector since. It was a Canadian delivered car with the odometer reading in kilometers; 45,000 klms = 28,000 miles. Should your market dictate, we can change the speedometer at your request. There is no question of the cars mileage by simply looking at her. She is clean as a whistle.
With the car comes, as you would expect, its original hand-book and correct jack and tools. It even has the original instruction templates for the Climate Control (these are printed paper cards that were loosely attached to the unit controls so the new owner could easily learn how the system works and then remove them).
~~ The car is as about as good as you would expect to find. It would rank as one of the nicest Corniche IIs available and the rare Claret colour makes her quite unique. She is a clear 10-out-of-10 driver that needs nothing. One step better, you could take her
as-is to your next Rolls-Royce meet and receive accolades for her originality
and condition. ~~

Excellent leather - never re-dyed I doubt it if you will need this but a
quaint original touch! Boot space like new - not a single mark with
dealer battery cut-off tag still in place A note from RRMOTORSINC: “For those Rolls-Royce and Bentley enthusiasts who have followed my auctions in the past I welcome you all. For those who are new to my adverts and/or the marque, please note that as a serious collector of some 30 years, all my cars are truly described examples. I have my own private Rolls-Royce and Bentley workshop (not open to the public but dedicated to my own cars) with trained Rolls-Royce and Bentley craftsmen who are proficient in all aspects. As a team, we are dedicated to the preservation of the marque and as such, any car that leaves the stable is completely inspected and work-shopped to ensure mechanical and operational items are maintained appropriately. We adopt a “keep it original” mentality with pride and confidence, offering after sales technical support and assistance well beyond the sale. Because most of my cars are offered for the pleasures of driving enjoyment it is not always possible or practical to seek perfection (in the true sense of the word) but we do always uphold excellence in whatever we do. Our cars are by no means cheap priced cars but we like to think they are amongst the best. To this end, I firmly believe in the famous adage; “Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten.” We hope you do to.” **PLEASE read auction terms and conditions below BEFORE bidding.**
~~oo00oo~~ This Rolls-Royce is part of a private collection. Although licensed and bonded, I am not a main-stream retail car dealer or broker; I am a professional car collector of some 30 years with considerable experience and knowledge of Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with the marque which I take seriously. I take pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. However, auctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer, and you are the winning bidder, please understand you have entered a binding contract. You cannot bid and win the auction and expect not to meet the terms and conditions. Bidding and/or winning does not mean you are expecting me to “hold” the car until you have the opportunity to inspect it. Any inspection contemplated should be undertaken BEFORE you bid or make an offer and I openly welcome any potential buyer to come and personally inspect the car. Once you bid or make an offer, you are doing so to buy WITHOUT conditions. Your bid can not be subject to anything. A $2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) is required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. All payments are non-refundable. Payments as described above form an important part of this purchase contract and so, if all the funds are not received as outlined above, I reserve the right to terminate the transaction without notice. If there has been any deposit or other part payments received and I elect to terminate the contract, I reserve the right to keep any such deposits or payments and resell the vehicle to another bidder or interested party or re-list the vehicle at any time. To be clear, if you change your mind for ANY reason and do not complete the transaction in the time-frame required, you will forfeit your deposit. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements on a national and worldwide basis but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his cost. As a collector and experienced restorer of the marque, I make every effort to bring my cars to a high standard. By comparison, my cars are generally superior to others available but they are by no means perfect. You must expect some issues. Unless specifically stated, the car is not of show standard but of nice "driver" condition. Please understand, show cars of this model cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to achieve and sell for prices commensurate, so the sale price of this car reflects its relative condition. You are buying "condition" accordingly. Buyers should not expect to receive concours quality or "perfect" cars at these prices. Please also understand, the very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it is not always possible to attend to every item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked items. Further, and very importantly, these cars are classic cars also because they are old. So this means a 28 year old car is predominantly comprised of 28 year old parts. And old parts will fail. All buyers must understand and expect that things can or will wear out, break and/or stop functioning without notice. This is even more likely with hand-built English cars of early technology when compared to the typical American car of the same vintage. Please note, fitted radio/stereo systems are usually subject to upgrade by purchasers so I do not ensure operation of these. Similarly, cruise control systems fitted to these classics were of an inferior design and I do not check or warrant the operation of these. Suspension and brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and replace things that are identified faulty. But please understand, by example; if we change a brake line because it appears aged or faulty, we do NOT at the same time replace all other hoses because they are of similar age. This is considered "preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless specifically requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to ask for this additional service. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 28 years old. This is the nature of any classic car and especially a Rolls-Royce which was very "complicated" for its era. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no
warranty expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are
made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair
assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification
purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller
shall not be responsible for errors in description, authenticity, genuineness,
or defects herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. If any aspect
of the description contradicts what can be seen in the photos, then the photos
shall prevail as the reference point. No allowance or set aside will be made on
account of any incorrectness, unforeseen imperfection, defect or damage. It is
the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition
and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will
make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s
request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for
any repairs regardless of any written or oral statements about the vehicle. Being a
classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most ~~ **Please note: This Bentley is part of the collection of the

Rolls-Royce wrapped a Ghost in gold for Antonio Brown's Super Bowl use
Sun, Feb 7 2016Well, don't I feel like a jerk. While in San Diego earlier this week for the Honda Civic Coupe launch, I stumbled across a Rolls-Royce Phantom that had been wrapped in a chrome/polished gold finish. It was atrocious, so I took a picture, posted it on Facebook, and captioned it by suggesting that Charles Rolls and Henry Royce were turning in their graves. Now, the company those two men lent their names to have wrapped a Ghost in a very similar style for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown to drive around San Francisco during Super Bowl 50. It's not clear why Brown is in San Francisco, since his team never made it past the AFC Divisional Playoff. But his love of Rolls-Royce motorcars is no secret. Brown made headlines in the sporting world in July of 2015 for his Phantom. Sporting a matte-black finish with a wide yellow stripe down the middle – just like the Steelers' helmets – the car also wore whitewall tires and bore Brown's signature in a gloss decal. This wrapped Ghost is about as tasteful. Its semi-gloss gold finish is broken up by the silver hood, while Brown's catchphrase, "Business Is Boomin" is displayed along the doors. The front fenders feature Brown's initials and his number. At least there aren't whitewall tires. You can check out the one-off Ghost in the gallery above. Or you could do the sensible thing and forget this thing ever existed. Related Video:
Rolls-Royce to reach 4,000 units this year
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Rolls-Royce is, by nature, an exclusive auto marque, but it has been steadily increasing its sales to the point that it could be looking at 4,000 units by the end of this year, setting a new record for the German-owned British automaker.
You don't even need to go back a decade to find Rolls-Royce sales hovering around the 1,000-unit mark. But that was when Goodwood only offered the Phantom saloon. The subsequent addition of the Phantom DHC and Phantom Coupe helped expand its portfolio, enlarged even further by the addition of the Ghost in 2010, by which time total sales were reaching 3,000 units.
The Spirit of Ecstasy marque has been hovering around the 3,500 mark ever since, but with the Wraith now in the mix and its reach extending into growing markets around the world, Autocar reports that global sales could top 4,000 units this year. (Of course that pales in comparison to one-time sister brand Bentley, which topped 10,000 deliveries last year, but Rolls-Royce typically competes at a higher price bracket.)
