The Aston Martin Rapide leads this month's list of discounts

Aston Martin was an early entrant into the coupe-shaped sedan battlefield with its rakish Rapide. It was first shown in concept form in 2006 at the Detroit Auto Show before finally going into production in 2010. Ten years have passed since then, and this could well be your last chance to drive a new Rapide off your neighborhood Aston Martin dealership's lot as the four-door is replaced by the DBX crossover. If you've got your eye on a new Rapide — and congratulations if so — you'll be pleased to know that you can snag a 2019 model for the low price of just $217,484. Sure, that's still a lot of money, but it's $24,341 off the car's average $241,825 sticker price. That's the largest monetary savings of August, 2020, and it represents a discount of a little over 10%. And even if the Rapide is getting a little long in the tooth, it's still a strikingly beautiful machine, particularly in its most recent AMR guise. Looking for something different but still extremely rapid? The 2019 Acura NSX is selling for an average transaction price of $142,141. That's an 11% savings off its sticker of $159,703. Or you could opt for a Maserati Quattroporte if you'd like the convenience of a luxury sedan but not the price of the Aston Martin – the four-door Trident-badged machine's average transaction price this month of $107,372 is a 12.4% discount. And if none of that is up your alley, you could go full baller with a Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV for $320,085. That's a savings of $12,665 off the car's average retail price of $332,750. Dubai man shells out $9 million for license plate

An Indian businessman lived up to Dubai's wild reputation last week when he dropped a cool $9 million on a single-digit license plate for his Rolls-Royce. According to the Independent, Balwinder Sahani, an Indian-born property developer living in Dubai, won plate number D5 at a government auction on Saturday, October 29. This isn't the first time Sahani has scored a coveted low-number plate at auction, either. The self-proclaimed 'simple man' spent nearly $7 million dollars on plate O9 at an auction last year for his other Rolls-Royce, and picked up a second, unnamed plate at Saturday's auction for a piddling $272 thousand. Sahani considers the money he spends collecting license plates a form of charity and public service. Dubai has no income tax, and the money spent chasing elite license plates goes directly to Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority. This content is hosted by a third party. Single digit license plates are highly sought after as status symbols by the rich and powerful in the UAE, and the lower the number the higher the price. Back in 2008, a businessman named Saeed Al Khouri in Abu Dhabi set a record by paying $14 million for plate number 1. These displays of conspicuous consumption are de rigeur in the Emirates. Rolls-Royce Spectre EV spy photos show us the interior

Rolls-Royce has been testing its upcoming Spectre electric luxury coupe for a while now, and it's been wearing a camouflage wrap covered in marketing phrases. In both traditional spy photos and in manufacturer-provided ones, we've had a decent preview of the car. Now we finally get a look inside thanks to one of our spy photographers.  While some automakers have taken the opportunity to try bold new interior designs with their electric cars, Rolls-Royce seems to be staying the.course with the Spectre. The design is very traditional, with a tall, wide dashboard that doesn't stick out far from the windshield. The vents and controls look just like the ones in the current Phantom sedan. The steering wheel is very similar, but the upper spokes are now closer to 9 and 3. Perhaps Rolls-Royce designers felt it looked a little sportier. It does still have a column shifter, even as an electric car. The instrument cluster appears to be fully digital, though, which is one of the few less traditional aspects of the cabin. The Spectre will be built on the current Rolls-Royce architecture, which underpins all of the brand's models. It features loads of aluminum and will be the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce yet with a coefficient of drag of 0.25. But specs such as power and range remain a secret.
