1972-73 Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible on 2040-cars
Elgin, Illinois, United States
Hi, Thanks for looking at my Rolls. I have owned it for I think 6 years and have had tons of fun driving it with my family. Now is the time for us to part. This car was stored for 11 years prior to my coming to own it. I have learned much about Rolls Royce technology and am always amazed at the engineering of this car. I have rebuilt the front calipers and replaced both brake pumps and accumulators. The car drives well and is in very good condition with the exception of a few minor flaws. The drivers seat has a tear about 2 inches long. The leather is ok but maybe you'll want to replace it. The top works fine, it has a minor seperation behind the drivers side rear so you might want a new top, the mechanism works fine. The drivers side window worked up till this year and now stays down, I took a look at it and the mechanism for manual winding is removed and the motor has been previously replaced. The documentation of the motor replacement is inside the door, i.e. what motor was used etc. I have a can of R12 which I can give you to charge the air. I only drive this car with the top down and in summer so I don't really use the air. A couple of gauges are in need of repair, the gas only registers 1/4 tank, the coolant gauge is stuck and there is another one that is stuck, can't remember right now. All the brake lights are off and only the emergency brake light comes on sometimes when you depress the brake, I think it needs to be bled. Anyhow the paint is not great and there is a small rust spot on the passenger side rear panel (see Pics) it was rust free until I pulled it out of the garage this year. Anyhow the windows are slow and I replaced the driver master switch and it didn't help. The other three windows work off the single switch on the particular door or seat. Don't drive in the rain and you won't need to roll up the windows. The low beams are always on and the brights don't work (I think it is the switch) the left fog lamp no longer works either. Anyhow this is probably one of the all time head turners out there. Wish I had a dime for all the pic requests! If you are looking for the perfect restored rolls, this is not it. This is a really nice driver that runs very well. The badge on the firewall says, " Rolls Royce Silver Shadow which is interesting if you know why that is, please let me know. Please feel free to ask any questions, the car can be seen in Elgin Il. Thanks for looking!

Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Bentley and Rolls-Royce both introduce new luxury vehicles and Toyota revealed its latest Prius I'm Senior editor Greg Migliore and this is your Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. With a top speed of 187 mph Bentyaga will be the fastest production SUV on the road when it hits the market. Eventually, Bentley intends to launch a seven-seat version, a higher performance Speed model, and more efficient diesel and hybrid variants of its new luxury SUV. Dawn is the new four seater convertible from Rolls-Royce. While the car looks to the past for its name it boasts lots of modern tech including Rolls-Royce's Zed F eight-speed automatic transmission for imperceptible gear changes and a silently operating, six layer, canvas top. The launch of Toyota's latest Prius marks the fourth generation of the popular hybrid. Prius has gone from a niche product to one of the industry's most important vehicles. Toyota hopes its new Prius will redefine the category it helped to pioneer. We're expecting fuel economy to increase by 10 percent and this is the most tech laden Prius ever. Those are the highlights from the week that was. Be sure to check out my full recap this Saturday. Plus, some insight on the new Cadillac XT5. For Autoblog, I'm Greg Migliore. The latest Rolls-Royce concept is a hybrid dump truck
Tue, Sep 14 2021Is a standard Rolls-Royce not big and imposing enough for you? Perhaps the company's latest concept can get you to pass the Grey Poupon. Behold, the Rolls-Royce MTU hybrid haul truck. The Cullinan might come with 22-inch rims, but when equipped with its R63 Michelin XDRs, each wheel and tire combo of the ultimate Roller will stand over 13 feet tall. With a driver's seat a full story off the ground, it's so lofty you won't even see the plebes that you crush in their feeble Coachbuild Dawns as indifferently as Loxodonta africana steamrolls a line of ants. Serve as your own life-size Spirit of Ecstasy as you look down at the puny Parthenon radiators of run-of-the-mill Phantoms from atop your soaring grille, located a full flight of stairs above the lowly earth. All jokes aside, the Rolls-Royce truck mainly serves to promote its new MTU V12 2000-series industrial 12-cylinder engines. Rolls-Royce doesn't even produce the haul trucks; typically, they provide the engines for installation into rigid dumpers built by Liebherr, Hitachi, or Selex. The new hybrid mill produces 1,560 horsepower, meant to replace the V16 4000-series 16-cylinder engines making 2,500 horsepower. However, Rolls-Royce says performance will be the same while dropping carbon dioxide emissions by 30 percent in new installations, or 22 percent with retrofits. Like a Prius, the engine uses a battery pack to store regenerative energy captured as the trucks descend into quarries, then expends that juice to climb back up. It also requires no additional space for an exhaust gas treatment system or diesel urea additives, which are apparently concerns in a mining truck. In addition, Rolls-Royce is in the process of engineering its industrial engines to run on sustainable fuels such as hydrogen brewed from renewable energy (not the way we do it in the U.S.). The company hopes to have hydrogen fuel engines ready by 2023 in stationary applications. It's all part of the company's goals for a — say it with us — carbon-neutral future. The concept truck was conceived for MINExpo 2021, a mining convention taking place September 26-29 in Las Vegas. Hopefully they'll put it into production and offer a constellation headliner in the cab.
Rolls-Royce Wraith officially revealed in profile
Tue, 22 Jan 2013Well here's a nice twofer. On the same day Rolls-Royce releases its first official teaser image showing the 2014 Wraith, we also get a look at the car undergoing some cold-weather testing courtesy of some new spy shots. As the coupe version of the Ghost, the 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and it's expected to go on sale during the fourth quarter of this year.
Rolls-Royce already confirmed plenty of information in a teaser it released last week, but the latest image shows us a clear shot of what the car's midsection will look like. Comparing this image and the spy shots, we can see that the Wraith will have a pretty sleek - (almost Bentley Continental GT-like) roofline, and, like the Phantom Coupe, it will have rear-hinged doors. We can also tell from the spy shots that it seems to be keeping the same face as the Ghost and taillights, too.
Be sure to check out the latest spy photos for the Wraith as well as a brief press release from Rolls-Royce by scrolling below.
