Porsche forum claims eco-friendly 911 Blu coming to Frankfurt

The fiftieth anniversary of the Porsche 911 has been a nearly year-long affair, with unique tributes and even a special anniversary edition with plenty of retro throwbacks. The party is expected to continue through the end of 2013, and if one 911 enthusiast forum is right, we'll see yet another special edition model near the anniversary of the original car's September 1963 debut, when it arrives at next month's Frankfurt Auto Show.
It's called the 911 Blu, and where the 911 50 Years Edition was more expensive than a 911 Carrera S hardtop, the Blu would be an entry level special edition. That's right, a limited run car that actually slots in at the very bottom of the 911 range. According to Porsche forum 911UK.com, the new car would be priced at 74,600 euros ($98,718 at today's rates) or 64,750 pounds. That undercuts the price of a base 911 in Germany by nearly 16,000 euros and in the UK by nearly 8700 pounds (although to be fair, it's roughly identical to the price of a base 911 C2S in the US).
This 911 will reportedly feature a detuned flat-six with 300 horsepower and 211 pound-feet of torque.

Rumors that the next-generation Porsche 911 will be completely divorced from naturally aspirated engines are picking up steam. Now, Road & Track is reporting that not only will the next 911, code-named 992, have a turbo-only engine lineup, but that the base Carrera and Carrera S will add the force-induced flat sixes as part of a facelift later this year. R&T only cites "sources familiar with the project," which claim that turbocharged flat-sixes will be at the core of the 992's engine range, alongside a plug-in-hybrid model. A four-cylinder 911 remains unlikely. What's most surprising, though, is how soon Porsche will introduce a turbocharged base-car lineup. Road & Track claims the blown flat-sixes will be added as part of a facelift coming before year's end. Perhaps unwilling to risk the further ire of purists, the current car's seven-speed manual transmission will continue to be sold, alongside the company's excellent PDK automatic transmission. As for when this facelift will happen, the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September seems like the most obvious date. 'Latest production version' of Porsche 918 shown off on Twitter

Porsche posted a picture of what it is calling "the latest production version" of the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder on Twitter. It looks like the gasoline-hybrid supercar is being driven sportively on some California back roads during Monterey Speed Week.
Whatever updates were made to this version aren't visual (except for the paint), as the one Chris Harris drove last spring and another seen hot-weather testing in Nevada both had production bodies. We presume the changes are relatively minor and more than skin deep - perhaps brake calibration, suspension tuning or tweaks to the powertrain - but Porsche didn't release any more information.
The 918 Spyder is Porsche's latest supercar, which will compete with the LaFerrari and the McLaren P1 hybrid supercars. The Porsche may be the underdog of the group when considering horsepower, acceleration, top speed and price, but the 887-horsepower brute has the most advanced hybrid drivetrain of the three.
