Jay Leno welcomes finely rebuilt Porsche 356 into his garage

Not a month after the Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer visited Jay Leno's garage, another artfully restored Porsche has rolled in. This time it's a 1957 Porsche 356A Outlaw, the "outlaw" moniker referring to Porsches that have been restored outside the bounds of period-correct orthodoxy.
This 356A was literally done from the ground up by Michigander Chuck Olenyk, the floor of the car having fallen apart so badly that he couldn't remove the roof at first since it was holding the vehicle together. Olenyk said that of the 2000 hours over seven years that he spent restoring the car, 500 were spent just on repairing the rust. That's undoubtedly some of the reason why when he tried to sell the unrestored car as a roller in the nineties for $1,000, no one would take it off his hands.
Olenyk fitted a mildly tuned engine from a Porsche 912, the transmission from a 356B, the brakes from a 356C, Fuchs mags and a modified replicar Speedster roof from Intermecchnica. It lacks nothing even with just 115 horsepower, and it adds to that with charm and aural appeal. You can see and hear the full story in the video below.

Porsche Classic puts modern navigation in older cars [w/video]

People drive classic vehicles for many, many reasons. Maybe it's because they're cool, or they bring back memories, or perhaps they just want to take a trip back in time, before the days of adaptive cruise control, massaging seats and satellite navigation. You know, back to when driving was about, well, driving. Someone did not mention this reasoning to Porsche, because the German company has decided to offer the tiniest, most ridiculous in-dash navigation system we've ever laid eyes on, through its Porsche Classic line. Because, you know, people don't own smartphones nowadays. In fact, most smartphones are significantly bigger than Porsche's new nav setup. The touchscreen is just 3.5 inches in size, although its graphical layout is clean and in line with the company's more modern offerings. It also integrates a new entertainment system, which adds Bluetooth connectivity and a 4x45 watt amp. The system is being offered for a wide array of vintage Porsches, ranging from the most modern, air-cooled 993s, all the way back to the earliest 911. Four-cylinder and V8 models, as well as front and mid-engine cars, can be fitted with the nav system, too. Porsche Classic has priced the new system at the frankly absurd price of 1,184 euros ($1,344 at today's rates), though we're sure a large number will indeed be sold and installed. Porsche becomes first company to rent out Vatican's Sistine Chapel

We wouldn't go so far as to say God is a Porsche fan, but those in charge of one of the holiest Christian spots on our little blue marble are welcoming the German automaker into one of the religion's most revered and beautiful settings - the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. In so doing, Porsche will reportedly become the first company to rent out the holy hall for a corporate function.
Now, it's not like Pope Francis has signed off on Porsche doing do donuts in a 911 underneath Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. Instead, the Vatican has rented out the home of the Papal Conclave to the Porsche Travel Club, which will host a classical music concert. The Travel Club organizes events and tours across Europe for Porsche enthusiasts, with the Vatican concert just one part of a tour of Rome.
According to Automotive News Europe, Porsche will sell 40 tickets - at 5,000 euros each ($6,379) - to the event, while the Vatican has confirmed that the Pope will not be in attendance.
