2014 Porsche Boxster-nav/burmester Sound, Convenience, Bi-xenon,etc. Perfect Car on 2040-cars
Melville, New York, United States
For sale is my much loved 2014 Porsche Boxster finished in Guards Red on Sand Beige. I custom ordered this car from Porsche of Huntington and received it in December of 2013. This was a Stuggart built car. There have been zero incidents whatsoever and thus the car of course has a totally clean vehicle histroy. Vin #WP0CA2A86ES121024. The car has 7,511 miles.
The car has the following options: -Infotainment package with Burmester High End Surround Sound System (a $7300 option!) -Convenience Package -Bi-Xenon Headlamps including Porsche Dynamic Light System -Power Folding Side Mirrors -Seat Belts in Guards Red -Sport Design Steering Wheel -Wheel Center Caps With Colored Porsche Crests -Cayman Wheels The car is in perfect condition. I've had it professionally detailed several times throughout the months. The interior is spotless, and the car has absolutely never been smoked in (or eaten in of course). No curb rash or imperfections on any of the wheels. The lower front bumper has a few extremely small blemishes from rocks/normal road wear. The only notable blemish is a rock chip on the hood about the size of half a green pea. There is tons of tread left on the tires, with roughly 9/32nds remaining throughout. If you haven't had the pleasure of hearing the Burmester sound system, it is absolutely beyond incredible and was custom designed by a collaborative effort between Porsche and Burmester in order to ensure the absolute purest of sound reproduction. It was an incredibly expensive option and likely one of the only Boxsters around so equipped and really adds a special element to the vehicle. The car has been brought in for its first oil change at Porsche of Huntington at just past 5,000 miles. Happy to arrange shipping from Melville, NY and work with anyone in the U.S. or Canada. Payment by Certified Bank Check Only. Title with Lien Release (clear NYS Title) in hand. Any questions or comments, please contact me. |

Automakers paying Chinese dealers for lower-than-expected sales
Sat, Jan 10 2015The Chinese dealers vs. foreign manufacturers story won't quit. It began with a story on the struggles faced by FAW-Toyota joint venture dealers, with supposedly 95 percent of the showrooms losing money, and 10 percent of them doing so poorly that they'd have to exit the business. The problem is mandated sales targets, most set when the country's economy was racing. Now that things have slowed, China's dealers are swimming in unsold cars and the costs to keep them. In the case of FAW-Toyota, dealers asked Toyota to hand over 2.2 billion yuan ($355 million) to help address the situation. That was followed by a report noting the issues that Honda, BMW, and Nissan dealers are having with the same issue, revealing that the Chinese Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) had taken the highly unusual step of writing to the Chinese government to complain. Now Reuters reports that CADA is not only pressing its case even harder, it's being open about it: it announced that BMW agreed to pay dealers 5.1 billion yuan ($820 million) to alleviate poor profits last year. Unnamed sources said Audi has thrown 2 billion yuan into the kitty for subsidies, and Daimler has contributed "about 1 billion yuan" to its dealers. The battle isn't just about 2014, but how business will be run in 2015 as well: Chinese Porsche dealers have requested the automaker lower its 2015 target of 64,000 cars, which would be a 40-percent increase on its 2014 sales of 46,931 vehicles. One analyst called it "shocking" that the CADA has taken its fight public, while CADA comments continue to imply that dealers have been railroaded to the cliff's edge without recourse. "Due to the difference in status," it's deputy secretary said, "individual dealers are not willing to, or don't dare to, talk frankly with the carmakers...." Both parties need one another, so they'll figure out a way to make it work – but that could mean acknowledging the Chinese market is behaving more like a mature one, not an emerging one. Magnus Walker pops up again, this time with his Irish Green 911
Sun, 06 Oct 2013He was the subject of a short film called Urban Outlaw. He has been on Jay Leno's Garage. Twice. He even graced the cover of Road & Track in June. And after all of that, he appeared in a video by Hong Kong-based Silly Thing. So it isn't really surprising that Magnus Walker is at the center of attention in the latest video from XCAR, but it's surprising - and a treat - to see his mostly original Irish Green 1966 Porsche 911.
Powered by an air-cooled 2.0-liter flat six with 130 horsepower (more like 120 hp today, Walker says), riding on 5.5-inch wide wheels and turned with a wooden steering wheel, the little green 911 does represent some of the best aspects of classic car motoring.
Head on below to watch the long-form video on Walker and his Porsche, but if your time is limited, you're not missing much if you call it quits at five minutes - especially if you've seen his aforementioned videos before.
2014 Porsche Cayman S
Thu, 29 Aug 2013Second Fiddle Moves To First Chair
In the interest of full disclosure and a bit of bloodletting, allow me to admit that while I've always coveted the Porsche Boxster and its hard-hatted Cayman cousin, I've never really warmed to them visually. They've always had a certain push-me, pull-you, can't-decide-which-way-they're-going aesthetic that I've never really wrapped my head around. Porsche achieved the same thing with the original 550 Spyder's overturned bathtub bodyshell that would come to inspire the Boxster, but somehow that classic's even more symmetrical nature works for me. Fast-forward to this third generation, and at least for this enthusiast, Porsche's manchild has well and truly come of age as a design.
It's all there - a piercing stare thanks to squircle headlamps inspired by the 918 Spyder hypercar, newfound directional thrust afforded by a longer wheelbase and elongated greenhouse, and muscular rear haunches with a wider stance emphasized by larger side ductwork and snubbed overhangs. The body's teardrop shape terminates with an active spoiler that integrates into a gorgeous arc with the taillamps like a budding ducktail nod to 1973 911 Carrera RS. Despite casting a longer shadow than its predecessor, the 2014 Cayman still looks tidily proportioned, smooth and wieldy, the perfect skipping stone to ricochet down a canyon river road.
