Selling our 2000 Porsche Boxster. I bought this for my wife for something fun to drive because her job consists of a lot of local driving but she doesn't really like it and wants something different. She had her heart set on a Red BMW. This is a 13 year old car but it is in good condition. Tinted left and right Windows.  It does have some rock chips here and there and a couple of  small scratches. There is a couple of scuffs on the each bumper but they are not very noticeable. The convertible top is electric and operates as it should. It has had a new back window installed in the top I would assume since these cars came with plastic back windows that the original windows had probably became faded and discolored over time. I did notice a very small leak after driving in the rain but it was an amount about the size of a quarter. Again.. this is a 13 year old all original exotic sports car. There are some slight wear marks on the top where it rubs together while driving with the top down. This is normal for convertibles.  The interior is very nice with only minor wear showing on the drivers seat and arm rests. It has a cd player and the original radio displays the station ID and song title. The cigarette lighter does not work. The wife while driving the car recently had the key come apart in her pocket and lost the transmitter for the keyless entry which I read is another common problem with this model. I have not replaced it but I see them available on EBay.  I have all the service records since the car was purchased new. Since I have owned this Porsche I have fixed a couple of minor service items. I changed the oil and oil filter, I do this on any used car I buy. The oil change is good for 11,000 miles according to Porsche. I replaced the Air/Oil Separator which is a part known to fail on this model car. Very easy to change this part and was around $150 for parts. I also replaced the front sway bar links which are wear items on the front suspension. They were worn. They were only $30 a piece. The A/C works as it should. This is a clean car for its age and is very fun to drive with quick acceleration and tight steering. Clutch is smooth and was replaced at around 80,000

If you have never owned a Porsche, I highly suggest reading some online forums about this model car. As with any car, the Porsche Boxster's do have their own little quirks. The online forums are a great resource for owners and enthusiast to get valuable information about the car they own or want to purchase and can even save you thousands of dollars by troubleshooting small problems yourself. There is a lot of maintenance that can that an average person can perform. I have read a lot in the forums and the information provided by other owners can definitely help with tips on everything from cleaning the car to best places for service or step by step instructions for do it yourself people.

After writing this, it seems sad to have to list out every flaw that this car might have so as not to be misleading to a potential buyer but what I think gets lost is that this is a Porsche and it is exciting to own and drive. Every time we have friends over or take it for a drive we always wind up talking about the car and everyone wants to sit in it. With the top down, there is very minimal wind on the passengers and I can hear while on my cell phone just fine. The design of this car and its interior is excellent for cancelling out outside noise when driving with the top down.

The car will sell itself.. it is beautiful.

Quick Facts:

Brakes are good. no squeaks of any kind.

Good tread left on tires.

Ac works normal and is cold.

Electric top and windows work normal.

Clear title

All original paint as far as I can tell. No accidents reported on Vehicle history report.

No known fluid leaks. ***  I would consider a fluid leak to mean a major leak that could be noticed after the car has sat parked on a driveway. All cars leak some kind of fluid at some joint or gasket at some point. A normal leak would not be considered a defect.

There are no warning lights on after vehicle system self check.  *** I would consider all electrical systems that are monitored by the vehicles computer are operating normally. This would include: The check engine light, The air bag system, The brake system,  Oil pressure,

Quiet ride even with the top down.

Clutch is smooth and this car shifts very easy. Clutch was replaced around 80,000 miles. I have the receipt.

Very quick acceleration.

I have records from the previous owner for all service they had performed also. Almost the whole history of the car.

I am including this section to fully disclose any known issues or flaws with my car as to not to mislead any potential buyer. This is a 13 year old exotic sports car and it is not perfect.

Quick Facts about any known flaws or issues with this car:

in no particular order:

Both bumpers have some scuffing and minor damage to the plastic on them. The front bumper is scuffing is in the middle of the bumper and the rear bumper has scuffing on both sides.

There are rock chips on the hood and fenders. ** I would consider this normal for any car.**

The headlights are slightly yellowing. ** I would consider this normal for a car this age **

The convertible top shows rubbing marks from vibration during top down driving. ** normal for most convertible cars **

The back plastic window has been replaced. ** I have noticed very small leak of water, I would imagine high pressure water from a machine car wash would cause leaking also. **

The shocks that hold up the hood and trunk lid would need replaced if you plan to use the storage space frequently. They are worn out and do not hold. ** I do not use the storage space much so I was not concerned.**

The Drivers seat does show slight wear on the side closest to the door. ** I would guess this is from entry and exit **

The arm rest on both doors has some off whatever coating is on them wearing off.. very slight.

One wheel appears to have slight curbing damage. ** see photo **

Sometimes after a short trip there will be a few seconds of bluish smoke from the rear of the car at the next start up. ** This is one of a Boxster's quirks and is normal. It happens because of the engine design of flat six and sometimes oil will puddle and get burnt off at startup. Read about this in the online forums. **

Wife lost remote transmitter portion of the remote key control. Comes with 2 keys. Only 1 key has the remote feature.

The leather on the shifter knob has started to peel off..  ** see photo **

The last thing I would mention but I have been unable to tell if this is an issue or just the design of the car. I notice that the dash will stay lit up after shutting the car off and exiting. They go off after locking the car. I have read that this is normal and the lights will go off after a few minutes if the car is not locked but I have also read that the ignition switch could be faulty. This is described in the online forums as another Boxster quirk. My only concern with this would be the battery draining if I forgot to lock the car after driving such as when parked in the garage. I keep forgetting to test the going off after a few minutes theory and have just gotten in the habit of locking the car each time.

I have tried to describe my Porsche as best as possible. Please ask any and all questions before bidding. Please contact me if you need special arrangements made for pickup BEFORE  bidding!  I will be glad to take any additional photo's and email. I would also gladly answer any questions via email or phone. If you are a serious buyer please email me and give me a number to contact you and a good time to call. The remainder of purchase price must be made in cash when vehicle is picked up.

This vehicle is also available for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel all bids and end the auction should I sell it locally. The mileage will also go up. I reserve the right to drive the vehicle as needed. The mileage is will not remain 123466.

Porsche recalling 4,400 911, Boxster and Cayman models over hood latches

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Porsche has issued a "precautionary" and voluntary safety recall affecting some 4,400 sports cars across the globe. Here in the United States, the recall includes 1,382 911, Boxster convertibles and Cayman coupes, all of which are from model years 2014 and 2015.
Porsche will be replacing the lock bracket for the front cargo area (the frunk) after internal testing revealed that, while the vehicles meet "strength requirements," specific parts might not meet the company's quality standards throughout the vehicle's life. There have been no reports of accidents or injuries.
Owners of the affected cars will be notified within 60 days and will need to report to a nearby dealer for a free repair, which should take about 30 minutes.

Porsche suspends 911 GT3 deliveries amidst fears of spontaneous combustion

Mon, 17 Feb 2014

Seeing pictures of Italian supercars burst into flames by the side of the road, as our compatriots at Axis of Oversteer point out, has become something of a usual sight. But a Porsche? Surely those meticulous German engineers have got that taken care of, right?
Not necessarily. Reports coming in from Europe indicate that no fewer than five 911 GT3 coupes have "spontaneously combusted" in the past few weeks, prompting Porsche to launch an investigation. In the meantime, they've reportedly ceased deliveries of the new GT3 while they try to determine what the problem is and work to rectify it.
We wouldn't be surprised to see a recall issued once the problem is resolved, but for now, we'd encourage existing owners to be extra vigilant behind the wheel - or better yet, leave their cars in the garage for the time being. You wouldn't want to drive a 475-horsepower rear-drive sports car through a Polar Vortex, anyway, right?

Porsche reveals first Macan driving and manufacturing footage

Fri, 13 Dec 2013

One of the more anticipated offerings of the upcoming year, Porsche's sporty baby Cayenne, the 2015 Macan, has already earned nods of approval from a number of Autoblog staffers. We named it one of the top five debuts at last month's LA Auto Show, citing its 400-horsepower turbocharged engine and other sporty bits as good reasons to get excited about Stuttgart's latest.
And while our first test may be many months away, we're keeping our ears to the ground for any information on Porsche's compact crossover. We're especially keen on stuff like this - our first look at the new model in motion and undergoing assembly at its Leipzig plant. Both are shorter videos, and while there's little of the glorious engine noise we've already been teased with, the videos do offer a great look at the handsome Macan on the road, as well as glimpse at Porsche's state-of-the-art manufacturing operations.
Scope out the videos below and let us know what you think.
