Rare and beautiful trim with supple leather, burr maple wood, aluminum, wood, rear wing, xenon lights, stainless steel door sils and oval exhaust pipes.. see below for the list of optional features from the certificate of authenticity i obtained from Porsche. I bought the car from a dealer in January of this year, did the 60K service (receipts available) and added a few extras like new OEM wiper blades, new wheel hub caps, new lug bolts, wind shield deflector and mesh grills. I thought i would use it a lot in the summer, but have barely put a couple of hundred miles on it as i end up riding my motorcycle instead whenever it's top-down weather, so decided to sell it. I'm asking $14K, which is what i paid the dealer with taxes and fees, that's not including $4K i spent on the 60K service etc.. The car runs well, sounds gnarly and turns heads. There is a small paint touch up the size of a quarter by the rear trunk and the brake rotors have surface rust that's just cosmetic because the previous owner didn't choose the coated ones when they were replaced last. I was going to get the coated rotors but wanted to wear out the current ones first, so never got around to it. Newer tires. Also, i don't think AC works, although i've never used it, it's a convertible after all. Private seller - save on taxes. Call 312-316-8830 with questions. i had to pay almost 10% in sales tax here in chicago because i bought from a dealer. There are some more pictures and details on the dealer's site for their original listing if you google the vin and click on the fidelity motor group listing link.
MSRP on the certificate of authenticity was $71,761 - this thing came loaded. Take a look at the pic of the label with options codes, it's seven rows long!

Jay Leno plugs himself into Porsche's 918 Spyder
Mon, 24 Mar 2014As one of the greatest sports car manufacturers of all time, when Porsche puts out a new, ultra-exclusive hypercar, enthusiasts tend to stand up and take note. Jay Leno is no exception, and now, the funnyman is finally getting his time with awesome 918 Spyder.
With his 1963 Porsche 356 and his 2005 Carrera GT flanking a Liquid Silver 918, Leno takes us through the basics of this plug-in hybrid roadster alongside Daniel Eastman of Porsche North America. Following the chat, Leno and Eastman take the German-plated car through the streets of California, testing it in a number of modes and even going on a short, all-electric freeway cruise.
If you're looking to learn more about the 918, or to just here its glorious gas engine at work, you'll want to scroll down and take a look at the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
2014 Porsche 911 GT3 [w/video]
Thu, 01 Aug 2013The Bearable Lightness Of Being
Start with a standard Porsche 911 Carrera and its 350-horsepower, 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder engine. Bore a crepe-thin slice of aluminum from each cylinder to get to 3.8 liters, add a wider track out back and two extra exhaust pipes and voila, you can append an S to the Carrera's name. Hang two sets of wet, multi-disc clutches along its spine and you can make that a 4, or a 4S. Bolt on two forced-induction compressors and piping, add two fender vents and comically wide rear tires and you've redeemed your ticket to a Turbo. Increase the boost pressure and swell the corral to 560 horses and you have the Turbo S, which is the Virginia Slims of the 911 line-up because it's come a long way, baby.
Or you can go in a different direction. At that second stop, grab the 3.8-liter and cart it over to the engineers at Porsche's development center in Weissach, Germany. If racing were meat, they would be among the alpha carnivores. The baseboards in their homes are probably painted with miniature billboards for motor oil and vintage cigarettes along the straights, red-and-white stripes around every corner.
Noted Porsche collector Magnus Walker learns what a TED Talk is firsthand
Wed, 23 Jul 2014Porsche collector Magnus Walker has the name and looks of a Viking, but once he starts talking about his life story and what drives him, he's an absolutely fascinating guy. Walker recently gave a Ted Talk at a Tedx conference at UCLA and claimed he didn't really understand the idea behind the speeches. You would never know it, though. Walker is as gifted a speaker as he is a talented restorer of some seriously cool Porsches.
Walker's talk is titled "Go with Your Gut Feeling," and it amounts to his autobiography. He recounts his birth in England, dropping out of school at 15 and moving to the US at 19. Once in Los Angeles, he started selling second-hand clothes and grew it into a fashion business.
Of course, what makes him interesting to us is his passion for Porsches. He fell in love with them when he saw a white 911 as a child at the Earl's Court Motor Show in England, but Walker waited until the '90s to buy his first one. From there he started racing and eventually restoring them. Since the documentary Urban Outlaw about him was released, Magnus has become famous for the love of the brand.
