1997 Porsche Boxster Base Convertible 2-door 2.5l on 2040-cars
Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States
If you are looking for the nicest 1997 Porsche Boxster in the world this
is it. Simply stunning color combination. Grand Prix White over Boxster
Red FULL leather interior which includes the seats, dash and the
insides of the doors. This car is HANDS DOWN the most IMPECCABLE Porsche
you will find in the marketplace. This is a REAL NATIONAL CONCOURSE
CHAMPION SEVERAL TIMES OVER!!!!! I have been collecting cars for over 25
years and have owned every High end sports, exotic and luxury car there
is. I purchased this car only 2 months ago from the Porsche Club of
America Regional Technical Chairman and thought I was ready for a new
toy. I have only put 15 miles on the car since owning it and can tell
you this is the quickest, tightest, best handling, best sounding and
GORGEOUS car you will ever find for less than $20,000. Let alone the
fact that anyone who walks up to it will mistake it for a new car. Being
a father of 3 kids under the age of 5 I am a nervous wreck having it in
the garage. I honestly thought that no one in the world was as OCD as I
was about cars but trust me the previous owner is. This was his baby
for the last 16 years and he was sick to his stomach selling it to me
and now I feel even worse having to sell it to someone else. I can go on
and on about how nice this car is but I would rather you refer to me
feedback. The last sale was my 2007 Lexus LS460 with 18,000 miles on it.
Those of you who truly understand what CONCOURSE QUALITY means will
know and appreciate this car. I would prefer to sell it to someone who
will truly care for it as the previous owner and myself have. The
following paragraph below is the ad from the original owner on EBAY just
2 month ago. He is the most knowledgeable Porsche guy I have ever met
and trust me I know many. His description is true and accurate and the
car in person is nicer than the ad states. Please excuse my photos they
are not the best because they are in the garage. You know the old saying
"YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED". That truly is an understatement when it
comes to this car. Please read the following description carefully.
Please feel free to email me via eBay and I will gladly answer your
questions. I will also happily text you specific photos if you include
your phone number. All I ask is that you don't waste my time. This is
NOT a BASE Boxster. This car has been tastefully modified and is way
over built. If you think this is a fire sale it is not. If you want to
insult me with a low ball offer I will not return your email. My asking
price is very fair when you consider the miles, the condition and the
added equipment to this car which would cost $ 20,000 without the car. I
have been around cars since I was 3 and have sold thousands of cars
throughout my career. If you treat me with respect you will get the same
in return, it is really that simple. There is simply NOT ANOTHER CAR
LIKE this in the world. 1997 Porsche Boxster, 8754 Miles. Perfect in
every way. Grand Prix White with Boxster Red Full Leather Interior,
Sport Package, TPC Supercharger making 5-6 lbs of boost. Approximately
275 HP at the rear wheels. 5-Speed Manual Transmission, H&R Full
Coil-Over Suspension, B&B Polished Stainless Exhaust, 18" Porsche
Sport Classic II Wheels with Michelins, Drilled Rotors, Pagid Orange
Pads, Stainless Steel Brake Lines, Custom Built Rear Chassis Brace,
Porsche Short Shifter with new style Porsche Shift Lever, Boost and AF
Ratio Gauges.
This car was built for show only. Never beaten in any Porsche car show it was ever entered in. Fully detailed undercarriage, engine/transmission and suspension. Never driven in rain, never tracked and never damaged in any way. The car is simply stunning. Even the holes in the drilled rotors were painted black inside. All modifications work perfectly together and is fully emission compliant. Simply put, this is THE nicest first year Boxster in the world...period. If you are serious please feel free to call or text me at 616-813-2755. My name is Steve Car is listed on other websites therefore I reserve the right to cancel at anytime $1,000 deposit via paypal required within 48 hours of auction close. Why won't automakers slap on a turbo badge anymore?
Thu, Sep 10 2015Where have all the turbos gone? Not the actual pieces that go in the engine, mind you, those are everywhere these days as automakers downsize cylinder counts and boost efficiency and CO2 claims. But the turbo badges and fanfare are missing. Back when turbos were something to get excited about there was "turbo-driven," "turbonium," and "The Turbo Zone," among other silly lines. But now that basically every car is getting some sort of boost even on the lowliest trims, automakers are almost sliding in the turbos under the radar. Or if you look at some of the nomenclature, pretending they don't exist at all. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border. The latest automaker to hide that it has boosted the turbo presence is Porsche with the 2017 911 lineup. Even the standard Carrera models now get turbocharged flat-six engines, meaning the 911 Turbo models aren't quite as special as they once were. Porsche is in a sticky situation with this. The 911 Turbo, after all, signifies where the 911 family takes off from being a sports car and becomes the Ferrari fighter. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border, but now Porsche has crossed it and is trying to downplay the fact. There are a lot of exaggerations with displacement badges today, with claims the 2.0-liter turbo four in a Mercedes C Class equates to a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter six to make a C300. Volvo is pretty far up there, too, saying an XC90 T8 means V8 power, even though it's a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four with electric assist. I don't know why BMW can't just call the car a 330i Turbo, rather than inflating the numbers up to 340i. Saab tried all of this back in the '90s when it decided to turbocharge its entire lineup, from light pressure units all the way up to models actually called "Saab 9-3 HOT" (for high-output turbo). But then the brand deleted any external reference to the turbo under the hood and people wondered why they were buying a $42,000 four-cylinder convertible. And that didn't turn out well. Even though these turbo replacements often make more power than their naturally aspirated predecessors, they're very different engines. People knew something changed when they exchanged their leased 328i with a 3.0-liter six for a 328i with a 2.0-liter turbo four.
CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over
Mon, 03 Sep 2012
After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
Porsche Cayenne diesel V8 may not be long for this world
Fri, Jan 23 2015Goodbye, Porsche Cayenne V8 Diesel. We hardly knew ye. Nor did the Europeans, apparently. Porsche's V8 oil burner is still on the European model list for the Cayenne SUV, but the mill won't go through the likely pricey process of being updated to adhere to new and stricter European emissions standards, Just-Auto says. A Porsche spokesman confirmed to the publication that it's a fairly complicated process to update the diesel V8 to be so-called "Euro-6 compliant." With Cayenne diesels selling in relatively low volumes anyways, the German automaker might just dump the V8 diesel altogether, as it'd be quite cost-ineffective to make the necessary upgrades. The V8 diesel was a 4.1-liter engine that delivered 385 horsepower in addition to what sounds like a little too much exhaust for European clean-air regulators. While that's a pretty powerful profile, the most recent gas-powered V8 for the Cayenne delivers about 570 horsepower, so the diesel engine won't likely be missed by European auto enthusiasts. Besides, there's still the V6 diesel that's also sold in the US. That's a 4,800-pound beast that moves from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about seven seconds and gets a relatively (for diesels) modest 20 miles per gallon city. For those who are curious, Autoblog's First Drive review of that model can be found here.
