2008 Porsche Cayman S - Porsche Design Edition 1 - Turbocharged! on 2040-cars
Denver, Colorado, United States
Only 777 PD Edition 1 cars were built... this is #243. There are a lot of cool features that come with this model. The 19” wheels from the 911 Turbo and flat black stripes are the most obvious, but there are also some beautiful interior and performance items as well. The car has a black full leather interior including seats, dash, and door trim. The steering wheel, gear shift lever, handbrake, and headliner are all covered in beautiful black Alcantara. The instrument dials are unique to this model and there stainless steel entry plates that are engraved with “Porsche Design Edition 1”. The PD 1 suspension is 10 mm lower than a standard Cayman S. Additional Porsche options: - Power seat package - Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package - Heated Front Seats - Automatic Climate Control - Bose High End Sound Package I've installed a B&M Short Shift kit. This was a nice addition... quick, crisp shifts. I'll include the stock shifter if you desire. I purchased the car in April of 2008. I am the 2nd owner. However, the first owner was a Porsche collector and only had the car for a month or two. The car had 300 miles on it when I received it. A TPC Racing Stage 2 Turbo Kit was installed when the car had approximately 10,000 miles on it. The turbo makes the car perform like it should have from Porsche. I have well over $10,000 invested in this upgrade alone. It makes the car very quick, and it sounds quite pleasant as well. This turbo system yields over 450 HP. More info about the TPC turbo can be found here: http://www.tpcracing.com/tpc-racing-stage-2-cayman-turbo.html The turbo is obviously not a Porsche system. I make routine inspections of all plumbing and hardware to ensure proper operation. If you are not comfortable performing maintenance and/or repairs, TPC Racing’s shop is in Jessup, MD and they have authorized shops around the country. The car has never been on a track or a drag strip. Aftermarket appearance upgrades that I’ve made: - 3M clear bra - all LED (white) interior and cargo space lighting - replaced orange side markers with white - changed the hood badge from gold trim to silver trim (matches the theme of the car much better) The car currently has 16,650 miles on it. I put a new set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on the car about 2700 miles ago. They are in excellent condition. The car is in excellent condition. It has been garaged every night of it's life. |

Amelia Island 2013: Porsche 911 swarms the field marking 50 years of rear-engine goodness
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Perhaps one of the most iconic sports cars in the world, it was no surprise that the Porsche 911 showed up in numbers to the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. Although the original 911 launched 50 years ago, the original and current models are instantly recognizable as 911s, and since the 911 has a storied racing background, there were probably just as many racing versions of the coupe as there were street-legal versions.
As the show's 2013 honoree, one of the prime racing examples was a 1970 Porsche 911 S raced by Sam Posey. There were so many cars in attendance, we didn't know where to look, but a 1985 911 Speedster concept and a Porsche-owned, rally-ready 911 Type 953 were definitely among the more impressive standouts. As an added bonus, Jacksonville-based Brumos Porsche had many of its classic racecars on display including a beautiful 959.
Jack Olsen built one Porsche to do it all
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Jack Olsen has built himself a lair called the 12-Gauge Garage, and inside that garage he built a lairy Porsche 911 nicknamed Black Beauty II. Although it looks like one of Stuttgart's models from the sixties or seventies, it is actually four decades of 911 gubbins from 1965 to 2000 thrown under one shell: the lightweight body is from 1972, the transaxle from 1977, the brakes from a 1986 Turbo, the engine from 1995, for example. It weighs 2,400 pounds and it's got 272 horsepower to get it going, but it's still a pure Porsche, Olsen saying, "If you stop thinking about what you're doing, it will remind you in very abrupt ways."
Olsen said the real point has been to have one car that does it all, so he does everything in his 911 from neighborhood runs to 7-11 to track racing - he loads the aero bits in the car and bolts them on trackside. And he says he'll never stop tweaking the suspension.
You can watch and hear the rest in Olsen's words in the video below.
Porsche updates 919 Hybrid racer for 2015 season
Sun, Jan 18 2015Porsche's grand return to the elite level of global endurance racing showed mixed success in its first year. The company did score one victory in the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship season during the race in Brazil but finished in third place overall among the three factory manufacturers. Porsche is hoping for a few more wins in 2015 and is releasing its first shots of the updated car to achieve those triumphs when things kick off in April. The team's racer is still called the 919 Hybrid, but Porsche promises this second-generation version is a "comprehensive evolution" compared to last year. The most obvious change is the redesigned front end where the styling now features a simple horizontal intake running across the front (compare to 2014, below). The nose area also now flares out to the windshield. The side grows a more complicated look, though, with a series of fins just behind the driver compartment. Porsche isn't divulging many details about anything different under the skin. The 2015 919 is still propelled by a 2.0-liter turbocharged V4, and an electric motor powers the front wheels. There are also two energy recovery systems. In addition to the previous challengers from Audi and Toyota, Porsche has one more competitor in the factory ranks this season. The Nissan GT-R LM Nismo is rumored to be a radical departure from the rest of the field with an engine possibly located in front of the driver. Read the German brand's very brief release about the updated 919 Hybrid below and click through the gallery to see how it looks. Track debut for 2015 Porsche 919 Hybrid Stuttgart. Extensive testing with the second generation of Porsche's Le Mans prototype will begin on January 18, on Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit. As scheduled, this marks the start of the 2015 motorsport season for the Porsche Team. The new Porsche 919 Hybrid has already had its roll-out on the Weissach test track. As a next step, there will be several performance and endurance tests before the WEC season opener on April 12 in Silverstone, Great Britain. The new Porsche 919 Hybrid is a comprehensive evolution of the successful car that made its debut in 2014. It will feature the same innovative drivetrain concept consisting of a 2-litre V4 turbocharged petrol engine, an electric motor powering the front wheels, and two energy recovery systems. The new generation car had its first roll-out on December 15, 2014.
