This is a collectors 2006 Cayman S with low mileage, Silver exterior, black interior, manual, and all the options. These were criteria which I was looking for when I bought it.
It is a Launch Vehicle, option Code 762. Very Unique.

I've owned this car for 2.5 years, I bought it pre-owned certified from Porsche of Houston, TX with 5900miles on it. I found out it was owned by an older man who barely drove it and kept good care of the car. I'm a PCA member and I've owned a 968 prior to this, and I know what it means to keep a Porsche up to Concourse standards. Ask my family, ask my girlfriend; I barely drove this thing and always kept it in tip top shape.

The miles I put on the car were highway miles, during beautiful weekends; I drove the car upstate NY, on the Garden State PKWY in NJ and the Merritt PKWY in CT. I would put on 300-400miles over a weekend. I drove it in the rain twice, never in snow, it was stored in a garage over the winters under a car cover. And when it was outside and I wasn't driving it was also under an All-Weather CoverKing cover ;)

Things I changed to the car were minor accent pieces like black twin pipe exhaust tip, black fog light covers, clear side markers, RS 60 Instrument Cluster Trim, Rubber Floor Mats, Model Designation Delete.
I'm including both indoor and outdoor car covers.
There's a long list of options, I'm including the option codes in one of the photos.
Major options include, Navigation, Bi-Xenon Lamps, Sport Chrono, 19" Carrera Wheels, PASM, heated seats, BOSE, it even has the steering wheel that I was looking for when I purchased the car. $74,000 MSRP

Things 'wrong' with the car;
The TPMS sensors stopped working at the beginning of this year, I'm not sure how they are powered, battery, or need a recharge?
The Tires are original, with 15000 miles they will need replacement soon.
There is a small dent on the front passenger side wheel, not noticeable in pictures.

I paid extra for the warranty and pre-owned certified, whatever that means, I never made any use of it.

This is a beautiful car that is not being enjoyed enough. It needs an owner who will make use of it!

Please ask if you have any questions.

The car is located in Easton, CT

Porsche Panamera Turbo S vs Ariel Atom Supercharged in unlikely drag battle

Thu, 01 May 2014

David versus Goliath battles are always an enticing proposition, because they offer the chance to watch scrappy underdogs take on their bigger rivals. Evo has set up just such a battle with its latest drag race between the minimalist Ariel Atom 3.5 Supercharged (Ariel Atom 3 pictured below) and the plush Porsche Panamera Turbo S.
The two cars couldn't be more different. The Atom personifies Lotus founder Colin Chapman's well-known axiom: "Simplify, then add lightness." Most of the car doesn't even have a body; it's just an exposed frame with a 310 horsepower supercharged Honda four-cylinder mounted behind the driver. On the other side, there's the Panamera Turbo S. In the latest version, it packs 570 hp and 553 pound-feet from its 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 and it features all-wheel drive. Of course, all of that comes with a significant weight penalty.
Off the line, the differences are even more apparent. The Atom doesn't have any of the Porsche's technological wizardry, so launching it challenges the driver to build the revs and let out the clutch just right. The car screams like a banshee as it goes, though. The Porsche is the exact opposite. Its launch control system lets the driver hold down the brake, get on the throttle and accelerate away in just the right way.

McQueen's Porsche 917 from Le Mans races to the auction block

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

Steve McQueen may have been the headline actor of the motorsport cult classic film Le Mans, but we all know who the real star was. Or rather, what: the Porsche 917. More specifically, it was the Gulf-liveried #22 - not McQueen's #21 - that won the race, making it one of the most iconic cars ever to drive across the silver screen. And now it's going up for auction.
This 1969 Porsche 917K, chassis 917-024, has a storied history both on and off the screen, even if it didn't win any (off-screen) races of note. This example was the first 917 to be campaigned in an actual race when Porsche handed it to Jo Siffert to drive against the Ferrari 312P and Ford GT40 at the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 Km race in 1969. Siffert found the early example too unstable and ultimately drove an earlier 908 to the checkered flag, but after 917-024 set the fastest time at the following year's Le Mans test day, Siffert acquired it outright.
The Swiss racing driver loaned the car to Solar Productions for use in the film, after which it returned to Siffert's collection until he was killed in an F1 exposition race at Brands Hatch in 1971. In a testament to how much he loved the car, it was 917-024 that lead the funeral procession. The car subsequently fell off the radar until it resurfaced in 2001 as one of the greatest barn finds of the new millennium. Now fully restored and resplendent in its original baby blue and orange, 917-024 is headed to the auction block at Pebble Beach where you can be sure that Gooding & Company will bring in a suitably high price for arguably the most iconic example of one of the most iconic Porsches of all time.

Ferrari return to Le Mans looking more likely?

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Statements made by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo may indicate that the Italian brand could return to a form of racing it's been absent from for 40 years - prototype racing. That's right, LMP1 could see a factory Ferrari team for the first time since 1973, if a report from ESPN F1 is to be believed.
"We have won with the 458 GTE, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home," Montezemolo said. "Maybe we should give it some consideration..."
These seemingly idle, off-hand comments might not hold much water, were rumors about Ferrari's return to prototype racing not swirling as recently as August. There's also the fact that the upcoming, 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 being used for Formula One complies with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's own LMP1 regulations, according to ESPN. Finally, Ferrari returning to Le Mans might also explain this video of a camouflaged Ferrari LaFerrari testing a new turbocharged engine, which we showed you a few weeks back. There's a fair chance that what we're actually seeing in that video are the early stages of a new Ferrari prototype testing.
