Here is a very RARE Porsche Boxster S 987 with only 23k miles. Go ahead and look around on Ebay, or any web site, to find a 987 that has the Porsche factory options as you will find on this car. Directly from Porsche, the car comes with some GREAT options, starting with my favourite, the PCCB Ceramic Brakes, an $7,500.00 option. There's more - the leather package that really dresses up the interior; Sport Chrono; PASM Porsche Active Supension Management; PSM Porsche Stability Management; Red Seatbelts; and Carrera 19 inch black wheels. These options really make this car one Rare Porsche. You may see a few of these options on a Porsche, but to have all of these goodies on one car, it's priceless. Now the perfectly balanced mid engine platform of the 987, combined with a drop top convertible, make for a truly liberating Porsche diving experience. The 987's were delivered slightly under powered from the factory, as not to rain on the Carrera 911’s parade, so I added the IPD Boxster intake plenum as this delivers increased performance that puts the Boxster S in the ring with the famed 911 Carrera. The IPD Boxster S "Competition" Plenum was designed to meet the needs of the most demanding Boxster S enthusiasts. The "Competition" Plenum is even larger and utilizes the 997 GT3 82mm throttle body allowing it to deliver even greater air flow and substantial increases in performance. Now with all of this air coming in, you need to get it flowing through each chamber and out the tailpipes. So to do this, I have added nothing other than Fabspeed exhaust. So if you are looking for a great car that has been enhanced with everything a 911 owner does not want you to have, this is your car,, whether it be for driving those mountain roads or for any car show. Evolution MotorSports continues to
provide a performance package that produces 350
horsepower versus the factory 295 horsepower calculated with a conservative 11%
drivetrain loss. This collaboration among the top Porsche tuners has brought
this project to fruition and continues to offer this bulletproof package to the
world! On Jan-20-14 at 07:38:29 PST, seller added the following information:
Many
Have requested a breakdown of the Performance options and cost, so here you go,
keep in mind there are many Porsche options that are not listed here, just some
you will not find on many Boxster S 987. Here are over $17,000.00 in options !! That
make this car very unique and RARE. Those who really know the Porsche also know of the (IMS) Intermediate Shaft failure that can be caused due to an improper design from Porsche’s engineering team. (if not google this) I have taken this 987 to Porsche of New Orleans to confirm this 987 does have the Porsche upgraded IMS bearing. Now the only way you can actually confirm this is to pull the transmission and get a visual on the IMS bearing itself, an expense many are not willing to pay for. But if the smaller bearing is installed it could be a complete engine failure when it does go out. Also not to over look anything while this procedure was taken place, I had them replace the (RMS) rear main seal which in a Porsche is known to leak or go out after time. To simply put it I have made sure every detail of this car has the BEST of everything and upgraded and tuned by certified Porsche service engineers.
Brakes PCCB $7,500.00 The optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) is a fine example. This brake system has already had to cope with the harshest requirements of motor racing and is fitted in cars that compete in demanding events such as the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The cross-drilled PCCB ceramic brake discs for the Boxster S have a diameter of 350 mm front and rear for even more formidable braking performance. Another key advantage of PCCB is the extremely low weight of the ceramic brake discs, which are approximately 50% lighter than standard discs of similar design and size. As well as enhancing performance and fuel economy, this represents a major reduction in unsprung and rotating masses. The consequence of this is better road holding and increased comfort, particularly on uneven roads, as well as greater agility and improved handling
Sport
Chrono $1,850.00 When selected, Sport mode is activated to provide greater response and enhanced driving pleasure. Throttle response becomes even more direct, the rev-limiter is adjusted to a harder setting and engine dynamics are tuned for performance driving. The optional Sport Chrono Package makes your driving experience priceless thanks to an even sportier tuning of throttle response and handling characteristics.
Porsche
Active Suspension Management PASM $1,800.00 A variable steering ratio preserves the precise and direct steering response associated with the typical Porsche steering feel. This intelligent system filters out unwanted shocks from the road and actively assists steering inputs under braking on road surfaces with varying grip. Takes the driving experience to a sportier level that the true Porsche enthusiast will really enjoy.
Porsche Stability Management PSM -
Standard Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is an electronic control system that uses a range of functions – including anti-lock braking (ABS) – to help stabilise the vehicle (and trailer, if fitted) in hazardous road scenarios. Throughout each journey, sensors monitor the direction, speed, yaw velocity and lateral acceleration of the car. Using this information, it is possible to calculate the actual direction of travel at any given moment. If the car begins to oversteer or understeer, PSM applies selective braking on individual wheels to restore stability. If necessary, PSM can also intervene in the engine management system to temporarily modify the amount of drive transmitted to the wheels.
Leather
package $1,500.00 You may have thought the interior of your Boxster couldn’t be any more stylish, but the optional leather package enhances its overall appeal by adding a leather finish to the instrument cowl, center console storage compartment lid, seat centers, side bolsters and headrests, the door armrests and door pulls. With the leather package, all of these feature a silver-colored trim strip, which accentuates the dynamic and sweeping design of the interior.
RS350 Performance Package $4,122.00 plus installation $800.00 The Boxster S RS350 utilizing the Intelligent Tuning of EVOMSit with these performance upgrades delievers more usable power at the wheels and a closer connection between the car and the driver. To achieve maximum power the RS350 package includes full Stage 1 performance upgrades, EVOMS V-Flow Intake, a Competition Intake Plenum with a true 82mm 997 GT3 Throttle Body Conversion Kit from IPD, and an exhaust from Fabspeed.
H&R Suspension $350.00 plus installation/alignment $700.00 H&R Sport Springs are designed and engineered for each particular application to lower the vehicle's center of gravity and reduce body roll. They offer the correct spring rate for low, aggressive looks, high performance handling and no ride harshness! Original Porsche springs are available if you wish to have these installed on the car.

Coronavirus prompts VW to stop production throughout Europe
Tue, Mar 17 2020FRANKFURT — Volkswagen Group, the world's biggest carmaker, is suspending production at factories across Europe as the coronavirus pandemic hits sales and disrupts supply chains, the company said on Tuesday. The German carmaker, which owns the Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Ducati, Lamborghini, Porsche, Seat and Skoda brands, also said that uncertainty about the fallout from coronavirus meant it was impossible to give forecasts for its performance this year. "Given the present significant deterioration in the sales situation and the heightened uncertainty regarding parts supplies to our plants, production is to be suspended in the near future at factories operated by group brands," Chief Executive Herbert Diess said on Tuesday. Volkswagen's powerful works council concluded it was not possible for workers to maintain a safe distance from each other to prevent contagion and recommended a suspension of production at its factories from Friday. Production will be halted at VW's Spanish plants, in Setubal in Portugal, Bratislava in Slovakia and at the Lamborghini and Ducati plants in Italy before the end of this week, Diess said. Most of its other German and European factories will prepare to suspend production, probably for two to three weeks, while Audi said separately it would halt output at its plants in Belgium, Germany, Hungary and Mexico. Volkswagen's vast factories in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in Puebla, Mexico, and plants in Brazil were not affected, but that would depend on how the coronavirus spreads, VW said. Volkswagen has 124 production sites worldwide of which 72 are in Europe, with 28 in Germany alone. "2020 will be a very difficult year. The coronavirus pandemic presents us with unknown operational and financial challenges. At the same time, there are concerns about sustained economic impacts," Diess said. Â Production in China resumes Volkswagen Group sold 10.96 million vehicles last year, putting it ahead of Toyota based on the latest figures from the Japanese carmaker. Globally, VW employs 671,000 people and it delivered 4.86 million vehicles to European customers in 2019. Only last month the car and truck maker based in Wolfsburg, Germany, predicted that vehicle deliveries this year would match 2019 sales and forecast an operating return on sales in the range of 6.5% to 7.5%. "The spread of coronavirus is currently impacting the global economy. It is uncertain how severely or for how long this will also affect the Volkswagen Group.
Our hats are off to Porsche's 2014 911 Turbo Cabriolets
Wed, 20 Nov 2013Porsche has just debuted its two latest decapitated rocket sleds today at the LA Auto Show, the new 911 Turbo Cabriolet and Turbo S Cabriolet, which share their coupe counterparts' 520-horsepower and 560-hp 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engines. That kind of power ought separate a lot of hats (and toupees!) from heads.
The rear-engined Porsches put their power down through all four wheels, which allows them to launch from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds or less (the Turbo S Cab takes just 3.1 seconds), and both of them top out at 195 mph.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet starts at $160,700, while the Turbo S Cabriolet can be had for a grand total of $193,900 (plus $950 for destination). Is the S model's 40 extra horsepower worth $33,200? We're not so sure, but we imagine Porsche won't have any trouble selling it.
Porsche revisits the 911's dirty side with rally history film
Fri, 03 Jan 2014It might not be a coincidence that there are rumors of Porsche revealing a safari version of the 911 at April's Beijing Motor Show, just as the Dakar Rally is about to begin. Adding fuel to the dusty desert fire is a just-released official video of Jeff Zwart driving the Porsche 953 that Jacky Ickx drove to victory in the 1984 edition of the race.
In the video, the seven-time Pikes Peak International Hill Climb winner talks about how he grew up with the 911; it wasn't only the car he learned to drive in, it was his choice of racecar no matter whether the course was tarmac or the dirty stuff.
You can decide for yourself if these recent events are mere coincidence while you enjoy the 953's exhaust note in the video below. If you've got the time to see the 953 during its race-conquering drive and find out what the ersatz Paris-Dakar Rally used to be, we've also included a broadcast of that 1984 race below as well. Fast-forward to 19:44 to see the Porsches cross the open dessert and 29:09 to watch one of them tackle the dunes.
