02 Porsche Boxster S 40,000 Miles on 2040-cars
Frankfort, Illinois, United States
up for sale is brother in laws' 02 Boxster. he bought this when it was 1 year old, with 2000 miles on it, so he's the second owner. to say he is fanatic about his cars is a bit of an understatement- oil change every 3000 miles, transaxle lube every year, complete brake flush every other year. Always garaged, never driven winters; in fact only got caught in the rain with it twice during his entire ownership. underside is spotless. never smoked in. at 30K, he had new plugs, CV boots, and new head bolts installed all as preventative maintenance. he had a very custom stereo set up installed in it- am/fm/cd/mp3, three 10'' subwoofers, JL audio amps, separate sound system battery and 3 farads of capacitance. it has been custom fit into the trunk in such a way the spare tire still fits. tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 225/40 zr/18s with about 8K on them. no curb rash on rims. this thing runs, drives, and looks fantastic. Kick ass sound system if you are into that. I have detailed all the shortcomings in the condition description. car is located in Frankfort IL, about 35 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. it is available for inspection by appointment. i'll be happy to answer any questions or provide any pics of anything you want to see, email or call me (815) 603-8556 |

New J.D. Power Initial Quality Study puts Porsche, GM in spotlight
Wed, 19 Jun 2013J.D. Power and Associates has released its annual Initial Quality Study, and this year, Porsche and General Motors took the spotlight. The study, which asks new car owners to report problems experienced during the first 90 days of ownership, found that overall, the industry averages 113 problems per 100 vehicles.
Porsche managed a score of just 80 problems per 100 vehicles, while GMC took the second spot on the podium with 90. Lexus filled out the top three with 94 problems per 100 vehicles, followed by Infiniti at 95 and Chevrolet at 97. The study also looks at specific models, and found the Lexus LS to enjoy the best initial quality at 59 problems per 100 vehicles.
Interestingly enough, the report found that around two-thirds of most owner problems experienced in the first 90 days are attributable to vehicle design instead of mechanical failure. Specifically - echoing a refrain we've been hearing for the last few years - owners are having a hard time figuring out how to use the technology present in their new vehicles. Head over to the J.D. Power site for more information, or scroll down below for the company's related press release.
2015 Porsche Cayman GTS
Thu, 29 May 2014The Porsche Boxster and Cayman will forever nip at the heels of their big brother, the 911 Carrera, and perpetuating this tradition are the latest GTS variants, which add yet another arrow to the quiver of the plucky mid-engined platform.
The GTS' performance enhancements boost horsepower by a mere 15 and shave a tenth from 0 to 60, but Porsche's clever product planners and engineers have stuck to their familiar formula in making the Cayman GTS more desirable than the Boxster for dyed-in-the-wool performance enthusiasts. More on that shortly.
Laps around Spain's Circuito Mallorca RennArena and the nearby Serra de Tramuntana mountain range would shed further light on how the GTS differentiates itself from lesser Caymans.
