Up for bid is a 1994 Porsche 968 coupe. The car has 151,490 miles, but the engine only has about 130,000. The engine

is out of a 1994 968 Cabriolet. The engine was replaced because someone installed the flex dampener incorrectly and it

pushed forward on the crankshaft and wore the crankshaft thrust bearing.

The hatch was just rebuilt using professional Sika System components. We removed the hatch glass from the frame, and

completely removed all the old glue and primer. The new primer was airbrushed on, and the hatch glass reglued into the

frame. It looks amazing, and should not separate like the stock primer. The Sika System uses an activator which allows

the primer to bond into the glass, not just stick to the surface. The hatch is car color, which was an option, not the

normal Rally (satin) black. A new left side spoiler trim piece was installed when we restored the hatch.

The car runs and drives great. Everything works perfectly except for the cruise control, which is typical for the 944

and 968 models. If you engage the cruise control, the car wants to go 70MPH, and won't reset to a different speed. The

A/C is R134A and blows ice cold. The car has a factory alarm which works perfectly. The hatch and hood shocks all work

great.

The car has an Autothority performance chip installed, and believe me, you can feel the difference from the stock

chip.

I have installed loads of new components on this car in the 6 years that I have owned it. Here's a rundown of what I

can remember off the top of my head. Porsche factory motor mounts, Koni Sport adjustable shocks, left side hatch

spoiler, rear taillight assembly, one of the foglights, rain gutter trim, drivers door handle, door handle gaskets on

both sides, ground effect trim on both sides, hatch seal, inner sunroof seal, antenna mast, washer filler seal, outer

window scrapers, headlight pods, voltmeter/oil pressure gauge, all four dash trim pieces, rear bumper pads, cassette

tray hinge, all horn switch components, radiator, various cooling hoses, and metal glove box sliders to replace the

crappy factory plastic units. I added the front and rear engine bay covers which they didn't install on all the 94

cars.

The car has leather seats, leather steering wheel, leather emergency brake handle, leather shift knob, and a leather

cassette tray lid.The driver's seat is power adjustable. The interior is in great shape for a 94. There was a small

split in the driver's side seat bolster, but I stitched it up to prevent it from splitting any more. The carpet is in

great shape, and has always been covered with factory floormats (I took them out for the pictures). The rear cargo

cover is perfect with no rips or tears. The dash has the typical cracking from the sun.

The paint on this car is not perfect. It has been my daily driver 50% of the time for the last 6 years (I drive my 968

cabriolet in the summer). There are rock chips, a scrape in the front bumper cover, there are a few small dings in the

fenders, and the paint has been buffed through the top layer in a few small spots. With a coat of paint and a little

interior work, this car would be perfect. I want to give an accurate representation of the car. I don't want the buyer

to be disappointed. If you have any questions, please ask me before you place a bid. The tires are old and worn, and

should be replaced. The timing and balance shaft belts have about 20K on them.

This car is a lot of fun to drive. It handles amazingly, and will not disappoint you in any hard cornering situation.

The tiptronic transmission is great in rush hour, and when you kick it down to second on the freeway, it really gets

up and jumps. When you switch it over to manual shift mode, it is extremely responsive. I went from driving my 5 speed

944 to this car, and I did not miss wearing out my left leg running that clutch all the time.

Former Porsche CEO Wiedeking indicted over VW takeover bid

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

Do you recall the failed efforts by Porsche to take over Volkswagen? According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche.
The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW.
Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation."

Porsche stalls on Ferrari 458 rival

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

A few years ago, reports surfaced that Porsche was planning a new supercar. But the latest intel suggests that the plan has been put indefinitely on the back burner.
The project alternately referred to as 960 or 988 was put forth by CEO Matthias Müller shortly after he assumed control of the German automaker. It called for a mid-engined V8 supercar to slot in between the 911 and the 918 Spyder to take on the likes of the Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren 650S and sister-company Lamborghini's Gallardo and subsequent Huracán.
Now three years since the idea was first mooted, the vehicle has yet to materialize. According to Autocar, Porsche is putting a greater emphasis on refreshing its existing lineup. Which is probably just as well, because the mid-engined supercar would have a heck of a challenge on its hands to differentiate itself in terms of performance from the 911 GT3 and 911 Turbo, which already give the 458 and company a run for their money.

Porsche digitally dissects its 918 Spyder for your viewing pleasure

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

At this point, you'd think we'd know all there is to know about the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder - except what it's like to drive - but Porsche has released a new video giving us a more in-depth look at its new plug-in hypercar all the same. The animated video gives us numerous cutaway looks at the 918 Spyder while giving a visual demonstration of the car's four hybrid driving modes.
Though nowhere near as exciting as watching the 918 blast around the Nürburgring in record time, this new video is nonetheless both interesting and informative. Scroll down to watch the video yourself, and be sure to check out our live gallery of the production version of the car along with a stock gallery.
