This auction is for a 1994 Porsche 968 Convertible. It has a 6 speed manual transmission. I will describe the condition in depth as it will be a good project for someone. The following items have been repaired or replaced....

-new fuel pump, in tank strainer, fuel level sending unit, fuel filter and  tank to pump line.
-removed and had cylinder head completely reworked and reinstalled with new Victor gasket set and seals, as well as a valve job.
-replaced timing belts and idlers
-replaced water pump with a new one, rotor and distributor cap, spark plugs replaced
-had injectors cleaned and tested by Marren Injector service.
-replaced all coolant hoses and drive belts.
-brakes had been reworked but rotors were turned slightly to remove rust. Pads are 90%
-replaced parking brake pads and springs.

The engine was inspected closely when torn down and cylinder walls showed very little wear concurrent with the low mileage. The Variocam pads showed almost no wear at all. The car starts and runs very nicely. It is very snappy with power as it should be. There is a slight whining noise coming from the front of the engine and I am guessing that it is the alternator from setting or the new timing belts. I have put a couple hundred miles on it and the whining noise has diminished quite a bit. Like I said the car starts perfect, idles perfect and runs great. Temp gauge stays within the correct area. The oil pressure gauge works somewhat intermittantly but when it is working the engine holds great oil pressure. The brakes work well. The steering is tight and the car goes down the road straight and is amazingly quiet and solid for a 20 year old convertible. You definitely get the feeling you are in a well built car. The clutch feels good and the transmission shifts great.

The body on the car is very solid and I have seen no rust anywhere. The paint is in pretty bad shape with some panels shining and some, like the hood with no shine at all. There are numerous small "dents and dings" as would be expected from a car of this age. Nothing major but they do show up with the black paint. The interior is pretty rough. Drivers seat bolster is ripped and the leather in both seats is pretty stiff. The dash is badly cracked and pulled in places. The instrument cluster seems to all work and all gauges work however as stated before the oil pressure gauge is somewhat intermitant. The headlights come up as they should and all exterior lighting works. The power windows work. The top mechanism has been disconnected so that the top can be put up and down manually. The trim around the top in the front has been removed and the headliner, which is in good shape has been left loose on the side were it covers the drive mechanism. The top itself is in good condition as well as the back window. The door panels are good as well as the glass in the doors. The windshield is great. The carpet looks pretty good and the car comes with a new set of floormats and several interior pieces. I have a used Porsche radio that is I believe the original equipment for the 968. I have a new shifter and boot for it, new sill plates and a replacement console cover. Wheels are Porsche turbo twist and very nice, tires will need replaced.

As I said in the beginning, this will be a good project car for someone. The mileage is good and the body very solid. The drivetrain is solid. I am selling it to the high bidder at the end of this NO RESERVE auction. If you have any questions please email me. I try to describe stuff in my auctions well but I am sure I have left something out. Thanks for looking!

Porsche offering new tire option for Carrera GT

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Let's face it: finding new tires for older cars can be challenging if tire manufacturers have stopped carrying the right sizes (this writer went through Hell to find a set of 205/60-13s). But what about tires for low-volume supercars, which use sizes that often won't fit on high-volume production vehicles? The Porsche Carrera GT isn't that old and tires are still available in the correct sizes, but the German automaker has shown its support of keeping them on the road by working with Michelin to give owners yet another tire option. Enter the Carrera GT-specific Pilot Super Sport.
It's common knowledge that tires are one of the most important pieces of the performance puzzle, and Porsche claims that the PSS tires, sized 265/35ZR-19 front and 335/30ZR-20 with Porsche's "N0" rating, will improve the Carrera GT's handling and stability all the way up to its claimed top speed of 205 miles per hour. That's important for a car with razor-sharp handling characteristics. They'll also net drivers a 10-percent increase in fuel economy on regular roads and up to 20 percent on racetracks, Porsche says.
The PSSs use cutting-edge tire technology to harness the Carrera GT's 610-horsepower. They have a dual-compound tread that's different from the inside of the tire to the outside, which, Porsche says, helps steering precision and increases maximum grip. Aramid fibers, which are lightweight but just as strong as steel, are used in the tire's belt to reduce unsprung weight.

Editors' Picks March 2021 | Ford Mustang Mach-E, Polestar 2, Land Rover Defender and more

Thu, Apr 8 2021

The month of March was unofficial minivan month here at Autoblog. We drove all of them but the Kia Carnival, but don’t worry, you wonÂ’t have to wait much longer to read that review. Among all the family-toting machines, we drove some more exciting vehicles including the Land Rover Defender and a pair of up-and-coming EVs. It was a month of excellent cars, meaning that this monthÂ’s litter of EditorsÂ’ Picks is stacked. In case you missed FebruaryÂ’s picks, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary or stand out in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in March that earned the honor of being an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Ford Bronco Sport 2021 Ford Bronco Sport First Edition View 32 Photos Quick take: Ford's baby Bronco is an authentic foil to the big Bronco 2-Door and 4-Door. It brings rugged styling, better-than-average off-road capability and thoughtful utility features to a generic segment of cars. Score: 8 What it competes with: Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-30, Subaru Crosstrek, Kia Seltos, Chevrolet Trailblazer Pros: Stellar design, excellent off-road, clever interior details throughout Cons: Pricier than most, average transmission, underwhelming interior quality and ambiance in lowest trims From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — “I genuinely enjoy driving this cute crossover. It feels like a mini truck on the road, and Ford admirably translated the design from its big Bronco over to this Escape-based crossover. News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "The Bronco Sport isn't perfect, the transmission could use some work, and it's a little bumpy, but it's a characterful little thing with loads of style, great visibility and space, and impressive capabilities on and off road in the powerful Badlands form." In-depth analysis: 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Review | Bronco for the masses   2021 Land Rover Defender 2021 Land Rover Defender 110 View 64 Photos Quick take: The Land Rover Defender provides everything you'd hope for in a modern Land Rover: superlative off-road capability, surprisingly plush on-road demeanor, abundant interior space and abundant character. The base four-cylinder is likely all you'll need and lower trim levels provide more than enough equipment.

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

Fri, 19 Jul 2013

I don't care who you are; when a new Porsche 911 rolls up in your driveway, that's a pretty good day. This was my very first experience with Porsche's 991 911, and after having spent time with just about every tune and trim of the last car, I was hotly anticipating comparing and contrasting.
Somehow (I don't remember sending out any cash-filled, unmarked envelopes) I'd scored a week in the 911 Carrera 4S over a long holiday weekend, too. That meant that I'd get to A) log a ton of miles in one of the best cars in the world, B) get to show-off the Porsche to family and friends and C) tempt cops in three states to pull me over. Good thing I've got the Autoblog traffic lawyer on speed dial...
