At auction is a beautiful Porsche 968 coupe. I am the third owner, and I have original purchase and maintenance records from the first owner, and many records from the second owner. In addition to the original window sticker, I also have a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity for the car. Lots of other original equipment and documentation make this an unusually complete car, including original work receipts, the complete set of original owner's manuals, original tool kit, and other factory extras. VIN number WP0AA296XPS820413. CarFax, AutoCheck, or any sort of Vehicle History Reports/inquiries are encouraged prior to bidding. As stated a number of times, I encourage vehicle inspection by the bidder or bidder's representative prior to buyer commitment to buy. I am a hobby collector of sports cars (see picture), and have owned a dozen or so Porsche sports cars over the years. This 968 is the only water cooled Porsche I have owned, and I have been very pleased with the car. I looked long and hard for a great example, and found one! The main thing I would say about this car is it has very low miles, and has been well maintained over the years. Who ever buys the car will get a vehicle that is sorted out and ready for the road. This car would make a great driver, and previous owners have shown the car at a number of Porsche venues. You can pick the car up at the shipping port of your choice, and drive it anywhere, in my opinion. It would make a great car for you collection, a great driver, or ideal for a son or daughter going off to school. Everything works, the air conditioning blows cold air, the fit and finish on the car is excellent, and in many respects the car looks, feels, and even smells as new. The only blemishes I have noticed are finger marks in the paint behind each door handle, where finger ends naturally touch the paint when opening or closing the doors, and very small paint blemishes. All of the blemishes on this car, in my opinion, are consistent with the car's age and limited use. The original paint and factory pen striping are in very good condition. Total price per the window sticker was $45961 when new. I have scanned the window sticker for your information. Among the most desirable factory options (as listed on the Window Sticker and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity) are the Oak Green Metallic paint (Code N9N9), color matched Protective Side Moldings, Limited Slip Differential, Right and Left Sport Seats with electric height adjustment, and Porsche CD Changer. The second owner replaced the original wheels with optional 17 inch Porsche wheels, and mounted new Yokohama S-Drive tires: 235/45R17 97W in the front, and 275/40R17 98W in rear. The tires are less than three years old and have about 2,200 miles on them, and are in excellent condition. Another important performance and safety option was the installation of a set of four Porsche "Big Red" Brake Calipers and new discs. This optional brake work cost nearly $3400, and the braking performance is outstanding. Sport seats (leather panels for the seat and back, Porsche imitation leather for bolsters and surrounds) have gotten nice, synthetic sheep skin covers that are custom fit to protect original seat material. All carpets have custom Porsche mats to protect the original carpet treatment, and thus original carpets are in excellent condition. All told, I have receipts for about $8000 worth of options and regular maintenance costs since the car was new. The car has a clear title from the State of Hawaii. It is also currently registered in Hawaii, and has had a recent State Safety Check. I will send by Registered Mail the original title and all of the books and documentation associated with the car once payment is complete. As noted in the payment section, I require a $1000 PayPal good faith deposit once the auction is finished, plus full payment balance by Bank Wire Transfer within seven days of the end of the auction. I will send you my Bank Wire Transfer instructions once the auction is complete. Ocean shipping to the West Coast is safe and easy. Shipping to San Diego or Covina (near LA) on Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines costs about $902. The car ships as roll-on, roll-off freight, and is protected within the ship's hold from salt spray or weather. In addition, the car can ship in a dedicated, enclosed shipping container to Long Beach, Oakland, or Seattle-Tacoma on Horizon-Lines. The cost for Horizon-Lines is $1200. I will tender the car here in Hilo, Hawaii for your shipment, and help guide you through the shipping process. Again, once the car is at your chosen port, you can drive it to it's final destination if you wish. However, if you'd like help with a transport truck service from the port, I am happy to assist with what I know about the car transport industry. 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo rolls out of Harry's Garage
Sun, May 31 2015It's getting increasing hard not to feel a little envious of Harry Metcalfe's collection of vehicles, especially with his latest purchase. He now owns the trinity of '80s European supercars with an '87 Lamborghini Countach, an '87 Ferrari Testarossa, and the recent addition of an '89 Porsche 911 Turbo. With the other two already featured in videos, the example from Stuttgart gets the focus in Metcalfe's latest clip. These turbos have a reputation for being a bit of a handful to drive, and according to Metcalfe that notoriety isn't entirely undeserved. With no power steering, floor-mounted pedals, oddly placed controls and lots of turbo lag, this era of 911 Turbo is difficult to master. However, it's a wonderful challenge that really engages the driver, according to Metcalfe. While a very different vehicle from the Countach or Testarossa, it's clear that this 911 Turbo is still a beloved member in Metcalfe's trio of '80s supercars. Porsche sells final 918 Spyder amidst excellent year of sales
Fri, Dec 12 20142014 has been a banner year for Porsche, as the company has moved over 169,000 units through November, an increase of around 12,000 units over the same period in 2013. During last month alone, the company's sales saw a year-over-year jump of 25 percent. The European market, meanwhile, saw an 18-percent jump in sales, while its North American efforts have jumped 13 percent. "This strong November is evidence that our strategy is working extremely well," Porsche board member Bernhard Maier said in the accompanying statement. "It also confirms our commitment to taking advantage of every opportunity presented in the global markets." Those notable sales gains aside, this latest sales report comes with some bad news for the overwhelming majority of Porsche fans – the last 918 Spyder has been sold. All 297 cars have been spoken for, with US deliveries set to begin soon. According to Porsche, there are currently around 100 Spyder owners spread across Germany and China. Porsche exceeds previous year's sales by November Last unit of the 918 Spyder sold Atlanta. Porsche AG increased global deliveries to customers from January to November this year to more than 169,000 vehicles, already exceeding the overall total for 2013 of 162,145 new vehicles. This represented a growth of 15 percent over the same period last year (January to November 2013: 147,290 vehicles). In the month of November, Porsche delivered 17,700 vehicles – an increase of one quarter over the same month last year. "This strong November is evidence that our strategy is working extremely well," said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board – Sales and Marketing of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. "It also confirms our commitment to taking advantage of every opportunity presented in the global markets." In Europe, Porsche delivered 54,500 vehicles from January to November 2014 – an increase of 18 percent over the previous year, with the domestic German market accounting for 22,200 of the sales. The American region also showed a significant 13 percent increase over last year with a total of 51,600 deliveries. In addition, November announced the finality of sales for the 918 Spyder hybrid super sports car. With a limited run of 918 units, the majority of the cars – 297 – will be shipped from the Zuffenhausen manufactory to buyers in the USA. In both Germany and China there are already around 100 proud new owners who have taken delivery of the super sports car.
911 beware! Porsche testing new top-trim Boxster
Wed, Dec 10 2014The Boxster and Cayman are like the scrappy siblings compared to their star brother – the Porsche 911. And now it looks like the rivalry is about to get even more serious, as our spies have captured this hotted-up Boxster doing some winter testing. We've already seen Porsche evaluating a higher-performance version of the Cayman, rumored to be called the GT4. It would reportedly offer a taste of the thrills of the 911 GT3, but at a lower price. The coupe appears to have a convertible twin in this Boxster prototype. The biggest giveaway of their possible relationship is the shared front bumper with larger intakes and an extra opening at the tip of the hood. Although, this one lacks the Cayman's big, rear spoiler in favor of a smaller decklid unit. The good news for fans of shifting for themselves is that this tester is fitted with a manual transmission, according to our spies. Being a prototype, though, there's no guarantee that the gearbox makes it to production. At least in Cayman trim, these higher performance models might use a tuned version of the 3.4-liter flat-six with between 370 and 400 horsepower. Though, an earlier rumor suggested that a turbocharged four-cylinder could sit behind the driver. Until we know for sure, glance at the gallery to see a Porsche that might try to challenge its big brother.
