**** VIN# II WILL GET OFF OF THE CAR WHEN I GET A CHANCE. I DID NOT HAVE IT HANDY AT TIME OF AD. *********

This is a 1992 Porsche 968 for sale. This is a beautiful car that has been semi-restored. I bought the car to restore over time with my father. Over the years my father and I have restored over 6 antique cars together. We are now two busy with work and need the money and space to expand our growing business. I originally purchased this car in 2007 and it barely made it home. We pulled it into the garage and a short year later she was on the road and passed inspection from the state of New Jersey. I drove the car every day for months and had no problems. It than sat for over 3 years in my garage. In 2011 we moved it to one of our personal storage warehouses. It has been in a climate controlled garage since the day I had it. She is a beautiful driver and the first Porsche I ever had that doesn’t leak or burn oil. She isn’t in show quality yet but she is a perfect candidate for a finished restoration project.

Features I love about this Porsche:

The removable roof. It is like a big sun roof that is not see thru it power tilts up in the back and then can be removed by clips similar to a convertible top. The top can be stored in the hatch and secured down with the cars cargo net. When this top is off it’s like driving a convertible but still a coupe.

If you decided that you wanted to race this car you can simply take the power steering belt off and have stiff steering and not affect the rest of the car.

Standard features

Power windows, breaks, locks, roof and steering. It has AM, FM cassette tape. It also has a car phone but it never worked and I never received the phone part just the holder in the car.

Small issues to be addressed by the new owner:

  • The passenger turn signal lens is broken

  • The grill is broken and allows lower vents to flop around

  • Body molding clips and seals need attention

  • Very small tare in the rear seat on the driver’s side.

  • Rims have lost their luster a little bit. There is no curb marks but could use a buff or possible repaint.

  • There are some racks in the dash cover from age and sun damage

  • Steering wheel shows signs of wear.

  • Carpet is original and a little faded

  • Foldable stock spare tire works and holds air the factory compressor is not in the car. You can buy one on eBay or at AutoZone

Major issues that I would address to finish the car.

  • Paint job needs help. It still has a shine on most of the car. It does have random scratches and chips on the car. I believe most can be buffed out maybe a little wet sand but you will need to do paint work on this car as well.

  • There is a small dent in the top of the passenger front fender approx. the palm of your hand. The metal is not creased so it can probably be pulled no paint work should be needed

  • There is a spider crack in the paint on the driver’s side rear bumper corner

Dan Gurney, legendary all-American racer, dies at 86

Mon, Jan 15 2018

American racer Dan Gurney, who raced and won in Formula One, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, IndyCar and NASCAR in the 1960s and who started a trend by spraying champagne on the victory podium, died in California on Sunday. He was 86. The news was announced by his wife, Evi, and family in a statement. "With one last smile on his handsome face, Dan drove off into the unknown just before noon today, January 14, 2018," they said. "In deepest sorrow, with gratitude in our hearts for the love and joy you have given us during your time on this earth, we say, 'Godspeed.'" The family said Gurney, whose Formula One career spanned one of the most glamorous and dangerous periods of the sport's history from 1959 to 1970, had died of complications from pneumonia. He won seven IndyCar races, five in NASCAR and four in F1, placing second twice in the Indianapolis 500. He raced in multiple series concurrently throughout much of his career. He was the first of just three drivers to win races in four series — sports cars, Indycars, Formula One and NASCAR. The feat was later replicated by Mario Andretti and Joan Pablo Montoya. At the height of his popularity, in 1964, Car and Driver promoted the idea of electing him president. He retired from racing in 1970 but returned for a NASCAR race in 1980. Between 1965 and 2012, his All American Racers, which he founded with Carroll Shelby and Goodyear, built 158 race cars and is the only constructor to have built a winning F1 Grand Prix car, a winning Indy 500 car and a winning Sports Car. DP Motorsport tries to turn a vintage Porsche 911 into a sleeper

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Once you get past the fact that it's hard to call a car a sleeper when it has race-product stickers on its quarter panel, and the script across the back panel reads "Porsche 911 3.2 Sleeper," it's fun to imagine what this car can do. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911, Germany's DP Motorsport took a model from 1986, stripped it of everything - including the paint and undercoating - then replaced everything with lightweight and race-ready parts.
In went race cams and ported cylinder heads, a lightweight flywheel, an RSR titanium racing exhaust, 935-style lollipop seats and RSR carpeting, a lightweight battery, perforated and galvanized hinges and brackets, hardened perspex windows. The 3.2-liter engine puts out 270 horsepower - 70 hp above the stock 911 on sale here in 1986 - and 226 pound-feet of torque through a limited slip differential to staggered wheels. The exterior color is metallic rock-green lacquer.
If you want one, $120,00 is where the part starts, but DP Motorsport says it offers the parts individually if you don't need your vintage Porsche to sleep this hard. On a side note, for a chucklesome journey back in time, check out this review of the 1986 911 that gets things going with this line: "First off, the Porsche 911 is very expensive - how does about 40 thou grab you?" Back on topic, there's a press release below that tells the rest of the story of the 3.2 Sleeper.

Volkswagen reportedly to name Matthias Muller CEO

Thu, Sep 24 2015

Porsche chief executive officer Matthias Muller is expected to be named CEO of Volkswagen AG, the Wall Street Journal and other sources reported Thursday morning. Muller, 62, has led Porsche since Oct. 1, 2010, and jumpstarted the sports-car brand's expansion around the world. He replaces Martin Winkerkorn, who stepped down Wednesday amid the company's worsening diesel scandal. At least three more executives are also expected to be fired, including Volkswagen's US chief and the heads of Audi and Porsche research and development. Both brands are divisions of VW. A US spokesman wouldn't confirm the reports. An official announcement is expected at VW's board meeting on Friday. Muller's ascension caps a stunning week of turmoil for Volkswagen, which manipulated software to make its diesel-powered vehicles appear cleaner during testing that they are in real-world driving. The charges were revealed last week by the EPA, which cited the work of researchers at West Virginia University. About 482,000 vehicles are affected in the United States, which will be subject to recall, and VW estimates about 11 million of its vehicles around the world have the rigged software. The well-regarded Muller was viewed as a front-runner for the job even before Winterkorn stepped down. Before helming Porsche, he oversaw all vehicle projects globally for VW from 2007-2010. Previously, he was in charge of the Audi and Lamborghini product lines, and earlier in his career was responsible for the Audi A3 program in the 1990s. He joined Audi in 1977. He's trained as a toolmaker and studied information technology in Munich. His last name is sometimes spelled Mueller in English. Muller faces immediate challenges as he takes over VW's sprawling 78-year-old industrial empire, including recalls and regulatory actions around the world. In the US alone, the company faces a fine of up to $18 billion. VW, an industrial symbol of Germany, is also far larger than any unit Muller has run in his career. While Porsche sold 189,849 vehicles in 2014 globally, it's one of many VW brands. Collectively they sold 5.04 million vehicles through the first six months of this year, making Volkswagen the world's largest automaker. Related Video:
