This is a really nice 968 with 91,000k.

What is good.

This car is a two family car. Original owner was a doctor in California. He passed away and left the car to his daughter and she sold it to my father IN 2003. The car has always been stored inside a garage. The body is very nice. I would give it a 9 out of 10. The only problems are small chips of a 21 year old car. Pictures show chips. The interior is even better. The seats are black leather and could not be better for the age. I removed the original tape deck and installed a touch screen with navigation. I still have the original parts if you like it original. The engine runs perfect and is strong. This car is an automatic. The tires are 85%. This is a great 1992 Porsche 968! You will have a hard time finding a car 21 years old that is this nice. NADA guide says this car is worth $9200 - $17,300. Look it up. I think it is a 8 or 9 out of 10. I'm starting the bidding at $8,900 with a reserve at $9000. I'm only selling this Porsche because I have a 3 car storage space and I have 4 cars at the moment. I just bought a new toy. Someone is going to get a good deal on a nice car. $500 down within 24 hours the end of bidding. I will be happy to assist with shipping for an out of town buyer. Shipping or pick up is at the cost of the buyer.

What is bad.

The car has small chips in the paint. I show chips in the pictures. There are only a few. The "Check Break Pads" light has been on for years even though the pads have been changed. Im not sure if the light is broken or if the light was not reset when fixed. The drivers side interior door has a small rip in the leather. Maybe one inch or less and has a glue patch. Its not getting worse. The biggest problem with the car in my opinion is that the drivers side seat, electric seat does not move back. The seats have 6 way controls and only the seat "back" doesn't work. This was never an issue for me because I was the only person who drove it and I never had to move it. I know the motor to move the seat back still works because its the same motor that move it forward and that works fine.Im sure its just the wiring but I haven't messed with it. That is really all I can think of.

This has been a great car in the 10 years or so we have had it in our family. It would make a good Sunday car for cruising or an everyday driver.

McLaren P1 vs Porsche 918 vs Ducati 1199 Superleggera in epic standing-mile drag race

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

We live in a high-tech supercar renaissance, with the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari all duking it out for performance supremacy. All three members of this power trio place the engine behind the driver and use some kind of hybrid assist. However, each one finds a slightly different way to make that setup work. While all of the tech is insanely cool, let's just admit that we are all really wondering which one is the quickest and which is the fastest. Autocar aims to find out in a new video pitting two of them against a surprise challenger in the standing mile.
Unfortunately, the race is missing the Ferrari, despite Autocar's best efforts. So instead, it has another limited-edition, high-performance vehicle from Italy in the form of the Ducati 1199 Superleggera. The bike has just two cylinders, but at 1.2-liters of displacement, it makes over 200 horsepower, and all that gumption is packaged into a magnesium monocoque body with carbon fiber bodywork to keep weight low. Granted, the cycle is going up against the 875-hp Porsche and 903-hp McLaren, but traction, aerodynamics and gearing all play a part in this fascinating video.
There's no sense in ruining the winner before watching, but Autocar teases that the finish is one of its closest drag races ever. Check out the video to find out just what that means.

Porsche says next Cayenne will be faster than Bentley Bentayga

Fri, Jan 23 2015

Bentley and Porsche are both high-end marques under the same umbrella, and may even be collaborating on development of new models – but while they tend to take different approaches and go after different customers, that doesn't mean they can't share a bit of sibling rivalry. And that spirit of competition – even within the Volkswagen Group – looks to be coming to a head in the form of their upcoming luxury performance crossovers. For his part, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Durheimer promises that the brand's upcoming Bentayga sport-ute will (in its top spec with the W12 engine) be the fastest SUV on the market. But in speaking with Car and Driver, Wolfgang Hatz – who holds the Porsche R&D head office that Durheimer used to occupy – says the Bentley won't be king for long. Porsche just released the new Cayenne Turbo S in Detroit, touting it as the first SUV to crack the eight-minute barrier at the Nurburgring. And Hatz says that the next version will be even faster. "Our Cayenne is always very very quick. It is doing 300 km/h [186 mph]. I think if [Durheimer] is doing 2 to 3 km/h more, then why not? He's doing that with a 12-cylinder. Our car will be much quicker on the road." The next Cayenne is slated to use a new generation of engines, and according to Hatz, will benefit from the same (if not more) weight loss as the new Audi Q7 with which it will share its platform. That sounds like a winning combination to us. That is, at least, for fans of performance crossovers. For those who aren't, Porsche promises it won't be bolstering its lineup with any new ones. Apparently the Cayenne and the smaller Macan are enough. Nor will Zuffenhausen slot anything bigger than a V6 into the Macan, according to the report. While Porsche's baby crossover will surely continue to get faster with new iterations, the Cayenne will always remain the performance flagship of its SUV range. Porsche Cayman S and Caterham 7 go head to head on the drag strip

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

We recently saw the standard Porsche Cayman go up against a Subaru WRX STI in a one-mile drag race with surprising results. Apparently, Evo had a similar idea of evaluating the Cayman's quickness. However, it opted for the more powerful S model and chose a flyweight Caterham Roadsport 140 as the challenger. Will the results of this battle be as close at the end of the kilometer-long (0.62-mile) drag?
Neither of these are cars you'd usually associate with drag racing, but they are nearly evenly matched. Evo selected them based on power-to-weight ratio, with the Caterham offering a scant 140 horsepower in a lithe 1,213-pound package. The Porsche is a quite svelte 2,910 pounds but has 325 hp to haul it around.
Of course, power-to-weight ratio isn't everything. There are a ton of other variables like aerodynamics and gearing that play a huge role, as well. Can the little Caterham's weight advantage overcome the better aero and additional power of the Porsche? Scroll down watch the video and find out.
