I have had this car for a good 4 years and it breaks my heart to put it up for sale; however, I will be moving soon and will not be able to take it with me. I am the third owner and one look at this car will tell you that it has been well taken care of. In fact, if it did not look well taken care of, I would have not bought it from the previous owner. This care has always been garaged, never been driven in the snow, has not seen rain except when it started raining while I was already on the road (you know how the Ohio weather is). To give you an idea about how well this car is cared for - I have the original instruction tape for the Blaupunkt tape deck that the car came with.

If you are looking to purchase this car, chances are you are an enthusiast and already know a lot of this vehicle, its history and its performance. A piece of history for sure it is. You can read more about it at the link below or the thousands of articles you will find online.

A little about this car:
  1. 2.5L N.A. 4 In-Line non-turbo
  2. Guards Red Paint
  3. Phone dial wheels
  4. Comes with a mini spare wheel which has never been used.
  5. The tires are Pirellis and they have less than 20K miles on them
  6. Power mostly everything - power sun-roof (removable), power windows, power side mirrors, power drivers seat, power steering
  7. Cruise control
  8. Nifty mileage gauge that tells you what mileage you are getting
  9. Gear change indicator
  10. Original tape deck with original instruction cassette
  11. Comes with original tool kit
  12. Mostly original items other than the usual wear items like, tires, wipers, etc.

While this car is in exceptional shape for its age, it is not perfect. One issue I know is that while the fuel gauge works, it does not move through the whole range of the gas tank. In other words, the needle will point as high as it can when the tank is full but will go only to about half when it is empty. The good news however is that the gas low indicator light does come on in a timely manner and so I am thinking/guessing that its a matter of calibrating the needle.

The other issue - not really and issue - is that the pad wear indicator light is on. I have the brake pads and just haven't had the chance to do the work myself or take it to the shop. I will be happy to include both the front and rear pads and pad wear indicators when selling the car.

I am attaching the copies of the receipts of the most recently done work to the car. This includes the timing belt, engine pad, water pump. You can look at the rest in the receipts.

Some commonly asked question:
  1. Are there cracks on the dash - No
  2. Is the center console intact - Yes it is. It has the separators for the tape as well.
  3. Do you have the original window sticker - No I do not.
  4. Do you have the original manuals with the dealer stamp in it - Yes I do.
  5. Is the black lining along the rear hatch intact - Yes. I do not see any cracking or peeling
  6. Is the sound and insulation over the engine in good condition - Yes. I see some fraying but this is expected for a car this age
  7. Are there any scratches and dents - There is some pitting in the front but only if you look close. I could not capture them in pictures. There is a slight dime size depression on the roof and above the wheel on the rear driver side. Its hard to capture these using the camera and you have to look closely for them. There is a scratch on the paint above the rear driver side wheel which I think can be filled in.

I will try my best to answer any additional questions you have. I am selling the car as-is and welcome you to see the vehicle in person or have it inspected.

I have two requests - please only bid and ask questions if you are serious. I am more than willing to help you with all your questions but please ask those if you are serious as I am busy with moving. The other request is please do not bid over the reserve and then retract the bid to find the reserve.

If your TV rats you out, what about your car?

Fri, Feb 24 2017

Vizio, the TV manufacturer, recently had to pay a $2.2-million fine to the FTC recently because it was discovered that its sets were collecting data about viewers' watching habits and then using the information for its own benefit. Last year, it was revealed the Samsung smart TVs were busy listening to what was being said, even if the conversations in question had absolutely nothing with switching the channel away from the Matt LeBlanc Top Gear. Nowadays, auto manufacturers seem to be tripping over each other pointing out that they offer Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto. And more recent phenomenon are announcements—from companies including Ford and Hyundai—that they are offering Amazon Alexa capabilities. You talk. It listens. In late January, General Motors said it is releasing a next-generation infotainment software development kit (NGI SDK) to software developers to write apps for GM cars. The NGI SDK includes native Application Program Interfaces (APIs) that allow access to expected things - like oil life and tire pressure and whether lightbulbs are burned out - but unexpected things, as well. Like the presence of passengers in the vehicle. When your TV set is ratting you out, isn't it likely that your car will? In making the announcement of the NGI SDK, GM pointed out that it has the largest connected fleet on the road, some 12-million vehicles. The company also noted: "From 2015 to 2016, GM has seen data usage by customers increase nearly 200 percent. Mobile app use for GM vehicles also hit an all-time high in 2016, with more than 225 million interactions." Is it not plausible that they know more those interactions than simply the number of them? GM's privacy agreement is like most privacy policies, which boils down to: You use it (the device, software, etc.), you potentially give up a portion of your privacy. While on the subject of apps, coincident with this year's CES, Subaru announced that it has added eight cloud-based apps to the STARLINK multimedia system in the 2017 Impreza. Some are familiar, like Yelp. Some are a bit narrow in focus, like eBird, which was developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology for birdwatchers. And one ought to give a bit of pause: RightTrack. According to Subaru, "RightTrack Test Drive from Liberty Mutual Insurance monitors driving habits and provides customers with tips on driving safer to help lower their insurance rates and improve their safe driving skills." Or said more simply: You drive. It watches.

Porsche tops J.D. Power quality index as Korean brands soar

Thu, Jun 18 2015

While complaints about infotainment systems remain a thorn in the side of automakers for J.D. Power's annual Initial Quality Study, there's a lot to celebrate this year. The average number of problems reported per 100 vehicles fell to 112 in 2015 – a three-percent improvement compared to 116 in 2014. The results of this year's survey are based on the responses of over 84,000 people about problems within the first 90 days of buying or leasing a 2015 model-year vehicle. For the third consecutive year, Porsche tops the rankings with an average of 80 problems per 100 vehicles. Although, that's slightly more than the 74 the German sportscar maker scored in 2014. "While the Japanese automakers continue to make improvements, we're seeing other brands, most notably Korean makes, really accelerating the rate of improvement," Renee Stephens, vice president of US automotive quality at J.D. Power, said in the study's release. In fact, Kia ranks as one of the biggest movers in this year's list. The Korean brand jumped to second place from seventh last year. The company had an average of 86 problems per 100 vehicles, a 20-point improvement. Third place went to Jaguar with an average of 93 problems reported, versus last year's second-place finish with 87 of them. Fourth place was Hyundai, and fifth-place Infiniti also earned a gold star for improvement with 97 issues per 100 vehicles – 31-points better than last year. Fiat still anchored the bottom of the list. However, its 161 problems this year is a lot better than the 206 in 2014. Ranked by nationality, Korean brands (Hyundai and Kia) are now leading the industry in initial quality with an average of 90 problems reported per 100 vehicles. According to J.D. Power, this is the first time Europe's figure beat Japan with 113 and 114 issues, respectively. The American brands also averaged 114. Whereas General Motors dominated last year, the segment awards are spread out in 2015. GM, Hyundai, Nissan, and Volkswagen Group are all tied with four models each earning prizes. What driving data is Android Auto collecting from us?

Mon, Oct 12 2015

In-car solutions like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make using your smartphone while driving increasingly easy, by replicating most of the gadget's functions on a vehicle's infotainment screen. In fact, they rank among the favorite automotive features available today by Autoblog editors. While there's certainly added convenience, Motor Trend claims Google is collecting a huge array of data during trips, as well. Although, that might not actually be the case. In a rundown of the upgrades for the newly refreshed Porsche 911, Motor Trend asserts that the iconic coupe doesn't have Android Auto because of alleged privacy concerns. Reportedly, Porsche elected to only include CarPlay because the Google tech collected info on a vehicle's speed and other data. The German company didn't want to share all of that vital info with another corporation. Google opposes the allegations, though. "We take privacy very seriously and do not collect the data the Motor Trend article claims such as throttle position, oil temp and coolant temp," the company said in a portion of a statement to TechCrunch. Android Auto does use a vehicle's GPS system for location info, and checks whether it's in Park or Drive to enable some features. Also, users must opt-in to sharing the first time that they connect their phone. There might be an explanation for this confusion, according to TechCrunch. Allegedly before Android Auto launched, Google did want more vehicle data, but the company eventually changed course. Porsche may have based its decision on this earlier version. This case just shines a light on the growing question of automotive privacy and Google's potential role. The government has been unhappy with how automakers have handled this responsibility, so far, though.
