1991 Porsche 944 S2 Coupe 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Cottage Grove, Minnesota, United States
For sale is a very presentable '944 S2 that has been my summer daily driver for the past several years. Not a concours show car, but a useable car to be proud of. 1991 was the final year of 944 production. The S2 engine option is about 35% more powerful than a NA version. 510 S2s were imported into the U.S. in 1991. This particular car had an MSRP of $45459. The Titanium Metallic paint was a $765 option. Included with the car is the original jack & handle, original air pump in the original case, the first aid kit, original plastic gloves, the complete original tool kit in its case, the owners manual & warranty book in its leather binder, the original window sticker, the original never-mounted space-saver spare tire/wheel, the original cargo cover & sunroof case, a fitted car cover and a service manual CD. I believe everything on the car (A/C, heater, power seats, windows, locks, sunroof, alarm, mirrors etc. work, but the cruise control sometimes takes a few tries before it engages. Once engaged, it functions properly. The car has had regular oil changes (Mobil 1) and the timing and balance belts were changed at 135K. Cosmetically, the car is good to excellent. No flaws are obvious in a walk-around. I think it's far better than a 20 footer. The interior shows good carpet with Porsche floormats, but the drivers seat bottom has a small tear in an inconspicuous place (near the seat back) and a small seam separation. The dash shows a few small cracks, but no separations. Though not a show car, this car is much too nice to become a track car and is a very pleasant driver. Delivery will be the buyer's responsibility, but if one chooses to fly & drive I will be happy to make a pick up at the Mpls/St. Paul airport. Please contact me with questions and bid high & often.

Revel in the glory of the Porsche 911 engine factory
Fri, Jan 2 2015A flat-six engine pumping away behind the driver defines the Porsche brand for many people, whether they are buying a Boxster, Cayman or 911. If you want to appreciate the sound and fury concentrated in the rear of these German sports cars even more, then take a tour of the company's 911 engine factory in Zuffenhausen, Germany, to see the work that goes into each one. We're long past the days of automotive assembly lines being deafening, dirty affairs, but it's still somewhat shocking to see just how sterile the plant in Zuffenhausen is. Each person wears a matching gray jumpsuit and gloves, and there's not a drop of grease of them. While the components are constantly coming down the line, there doesn't appear to be much of a rush. It's just a slow, steady movement that gives workers time to complete their appointed tasks. At least in this video, the employees don't even seem to talk to each other; the only sound is the hum of the plant or whir of tools. It's transfixing to watch these famous engine slowly come together largely from human hands. News Source: Cars via YouTube Plants/Manufacturing Porsche Technology Performance Videos engine
Porsche 911 GT3 named Performance Car of the Year by Road & Track
Thu, 13 Nov 2014The Porsche 911 GT3 is a very, very good performance car. Yes, we know this is like saying fire is hot and a shovel to the head hurts. What's different about this proclamation, then? Well, we bring up the 911 GT3's inherent goodness because our friends at Road & Track have named it their 2015 performance car of the year.
This is, our joking aside, a big accomplishment for the 911 GT3, due largely to the field of cars it beat out. There were many equally track-focused wonders in attendance, including the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and Dodge Viper SRT TA, as well as more capable everyday vehicles, like the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, BMW M3 and Ford Mustang GT.
But it was the 475-horsepower, rear-engined track star that R&T fell for, with editor-in-chief Larry Webster calling out the Porsche's ridiculous, howling, 9,000-rpm redline, while other editors cited its phenomenal handling character.
Dan Neil pokes fun at the celeb cars of 2014
Sun, Dec 28 2014Look, we try really hard not to pay any attention to the Kardashians and their vapid reality TV empire. But, as troubling as that brood may be, occasionally we're impressed and/or horrified by their four-wheeled conveyances. In fact, that curiosity extends beyond talentless reality stars with rotund glutes to celebs in general. That's why we're enjoying Dan Neil's sometimes biting take on the celebrity cars of 2014. Besides paying tribute to Kim K, husband Kanye West and the adorable Lamborghini that their spawn rides about in, Neil also takes a look at LeBron James' turn as a Kia spokesman and boxer Floyd Mayweather's trio of Bugatti Veyrons. Matthew McConaughey is a focus of Neil's as well, thanks to his oft-panned advertisements for Lincoln (and the raucous parodies they inspired), before finishing on the high, with Jerry Seinfeld and his new Porsche 918 Spyder. Take a look at Neil's recap of the celebrity cars of 2014. News Source: The Wall Street Journal Celebrities Humor Bugatti Kia Lamborghini Lincoln Porsche Videos porsche 918 spyder celebrity dan neil
