This auction is for one 1990 Porsche
944 S2 Cabriolet. In 1990 Porsche only produced 3938 of these Cabriolet’s for
the year. This car is just one of 1824 produced for the US market. With
production numbers this low, this car is destined to be a collector’s item in
the very near future. The 944 Cabriolet body was built for Porsche by ASC,
American Sunroof Company in Weinberg Germany, a first for the 944 line. This 944 with its low 82K original
miles has a long list of recent upgrades and mechanical fixes including, a full
tune up, new shocks, brakes and rotors, alternator, starter, exhaust, K&N
filter and timing belt check. New door panels are included with the sale. The convertible top is brand new. The
top is now manually operated rather than electrically. This is pretty common for these cars because
of the size of the roof, it literally can be open and closed in seconds with
just your fingertips. The roof could be made to work electrically again with
new cables. The car runs drives and shifts
without any problems and drives like a proper 944. There is evidence of a prior
accident under the hood on the diver’s side frame rail. Although minor, this is what is causing
the front bumper to be out of alignment. It has no affect on the drivability of
the car. Apparently this is why the car now has a salvaged title. Rhode Island
doesn’t issue titles to vehicles over 10 years old so I was not aware of this
issue. They say “a picture tells a thousand words”, so follow the link below to see over 60 photos and a few videos of this 944. This Porsche 944 will be sold with a
bill of sale. Rhode Island doesn’t issue titles to vehicles over 10 years old,
so check your local laws before bidding. Bidders with zero or negative feedback
must email before bidding. The car can be test driven to serious
local bidders, just email for an appointment. Any questions, just email me.
Thanks. A $500 deposit must be made within 24
hours of auctions end. Remainder to be paid within 7 days. Will assist with any
shipper the buyer chooses. All shipping fees will also be paid by the buyer. |

MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.
Remembering Porsche's illustrious Le Mans history
Fri, 13 Jun 2014Not only does this weekend mark the running of the 82nd 24 Hours of Le Mans, it will also see the return of one of the race's most venerable brands to the top tiers of endurance racing. Porsche will campaign its first top-flight car since the 1998 911 GT1-98, the 919 Hybrid, at this weekend's race, in the hopes of knocking off its corporate rival, the dominant Audi team.
To understand just what a win for the 919 would mean, though, you need to look back on the intrinsic connection between the Circuit de la Sarthe and Porsche. It's a history that spans decades, dating back to the team's first win in 1970.
XCar has a great video on that history. At 25 minutes, it's a bit on the long side. Then again it is the Friday before Le Mans. Take a look below for the video.
Driving the Panamera and Mike's Rant | Autoblog Podcast #487
Thu, Sep 8 2016This week we cover some recent news like the upcoming Land Rover Discovery, updates to FCA's large car platform (including the Challenger), and talk about water injection. Then we go into what we've been driving - David just finished his time in the Porsche Panamera Turbo and Mike tried the GMC Acadia. And then Mike (who is still uncomfortable writing in the third person) goes on a rant about why automakers shouldn't specify which cars are aimed at women. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want questionable buying advice, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com.
