1990 Porsche 944 S2 Convertible 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Montgomery, Alabama, United States
I LOOKED FOR A LONG TIME TO FIND A WELL-MAINTAINED, UNDAMAGED, LOW MILEAGE 944 S2 CABRIOLET, AND IF YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING, YOU KNOW HOW HARD THEY ARE TO FIND. THIS IS A STUNNING 46,675 MILE CAR AND IS ALL ORIGINAL WITH NO MODIFICATIONS. GUARDS RED EXTERIOR WITH BLACK LEATHER, BLACK TOP AND NEAR NEW TIRES ON FACTORY 16" S2 ALLOYS. CAR RUNS, DRIVES, LOOKS OUTSTANDING. --EXTERIOR- GUARDS RED FINISH IS EXCELLENT. THE SURFACE IS STRAIGHT WITH NO DOOR DINGS AND SHINES VERY WELL, AS YOU'D EXPECT OF A GARAGED CAR (MANY CLEAR COATS OF THE DAY OXIDIZED AND BECAME HAZY; THIS PAINT LOOKS FABULOUS). THE REAR TAG PANEL HAD SCRATCHES WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AND I HAD IT PROFESSIONALLY MATCHED AND PAINTED, ALONG WITH THE SMALL, ALWAYS FADED PLASTIC REAR FENDER CAPS. THE PAINT IN THE DOOR JAMBS, UNDER THE HOOD, AND OTHER "NON-VIEWED" PLACES STILL LOOKS EXCELLENT. THE DOORS, HOOD AND TRUNK SHUT WITH AUTHORITY AND ALL GAPS ARE UNIFORM AND PROPER. --INTERIOR- THE BLACK INTERIOR IS IN OUTSTANDING CONDITION, NOTING THE MILES AND CARE GIVEN THE CAR. THE DOOR PANELS ARE UNCUT AND PRISTINE, AS IS THE CARPET. THE DASH HAS NO CRACKS, NOR DOES THE CONSOLE. THE REAR SEATS APPEAR AS NEW. THE SWITCHGEAR WORKS GREAT. AIR CONDITIONING BLOWS COLD; POWER SEATS, WINDOWS, MIRRORS, LOCKS AND CRUISE ALL WORK AS DESIGNED. THIS 944 EVEN HAS HEATED SEATS! THERE ARE NO FAULTS KNOWN REGARDING THE OPERATION OF THIS CAR'S ELECTRONICS, EVEN THE CLOCK WORKS! ALSO, THE CAR HAS IT'S ORIGINAL AM/FM CASSETTE PALYER, ALONG WITH THE OPTIONAL AMP AND EQUALIZER. THE ORIGINAL, UNUSED INFLATABLE SPARE IS PRESENT, AS IS THE PORSCHE AIR PUMP AND ALL ORIGINAL TRUNK ACCESSORIES (TOOLS, PLASTIC GLOVES, ETC). --ENGINE, DRIVETRAIN- THE CAR STARTS WITH THE FIRST TWIST OF THE KEY, SETTLES INTO AN EASY IDLE, AND HOLDS EXCELLENT PRESSURE. IT PULLS STRONG AND SHIFTS CRISPLY, WITHOUT THE SLOPPINESS OF HIGHER MILE CARS. THIS CAR IS STEADY AND STABLE AT ANY SPEED. STEERING AND CLUTCH FEEL FANTASTIC WITH NO SHUDDER; IT BRAKES WITH NO PULLING OR FADING. HONESTLY, THE CAR DRIVES JUST LIKE YOU'D HOPE A LOW MILEAGE WELL-MAINTAINED PORSCHE WOULD. ADDITIONALLY, A FULL BELT SERVICE(TIMING, ETC.), ALONG WITH WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT, WAS PERFORMED WITHIN THE LAST 350 MILES. --OVERALL- THIS 944 IS SUPER RELIABLE, FAST ENOUGH FOR MOST ANY STREET DRIVER, CAPABLE, PLUS GET FANTASTIC FUEL ECONOMY. THE TOPS SEAL AS WELL AS A COUPE, AND THESE CARS ARE HANDLERS. I'VE OWNED LOTS OF SPORTS CARS, BUT THE S2 IS A LEAGUE AHEAD IN CONFIDENT, NO DRAMA PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING. THIS CAR IS AS NICE AN EXAMPLE AS I HAVE SEEN; I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE, HAS AMPLE TRUNK SPACE, AND IS SERVICED FOR ROAD WORTHINESS. FLY IN AND DRIVE IT HOME!....BEST WISHES IN YOUR BIDDING. |

Lexus leads J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study for 2021
Thu, Feb 18 2021J.D. Power's latest Vehicle Dependability Study is out, and, not surprisingly, Lexus sits at the top for the ninth time in the last 10 years. Right behind Lexus is Porsche, followed by Kia, which is the highest-ranked mass-market brand in the study. Genesis, last year's top-ranked brand (in its first year included in the results), fell from first to eighth, though the G80 sedan did earn an award in its midsize luxury segment. The Porsche 911 was called out as the Most Dependable Model by J.D. Power for the second time in the last three years. The vehicles being studied are from the 2018 model year, which means owners have had three years to get to know their cars and trucks. It's notable that this year's study shows a marked improvement in overall vehicle dependability as tracked by J.D. Power. The overall level of problems, scored by the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100), declined by 10% compared to last year. "The study results validate what we have known for some time," said Dave Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D. Power. "Automakers are making increasingly dependable vehicles — but there are still some problem areas that need to be addressed and some warning signs on the horizon." Tesla makes its inaugural appearance on the Dependability Study, though its score of 176 PP100 isn't official. Tesla is the only automaker that has chosen not to grant J.D. Power permission to survey its owners in all 50 states. As we've pointed out in the past, the Vehicle Dependability Study includes eight major vehicle categories grouped by J.D. Power as follows: audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN); engine/transmission; exterior; interior; features/controls/displays (FCD); driving experience; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; and seats. All issues reported by owners are all tracked equally, which means a problematic phone pairing procedure dings an automaker's rating the same as a blown engine or transmission. And in fact, the ACEN category has more reported problems than any other, which means the majority of problems reported don't lead to a vehicle that leaves its owner stranded. Porsche 911 2.7 RS values up by nearly 700% in the last 10 years [w/video]
Thu, Jan 1 2015These days if you have a wad of cash to invest in a classic car, Ferrari seems to be the best option. Hagerty's price index for the Italian supercars was up 43 percent in 2014, and Prancing Horses made up eight of the highest-selling vehicles at auction for the year. However, if you really want to watch your funds grow faster than practically any other legal investment, it might be worth setting your sights north of Maranello to Porsche in Germany. According to research from the Discovery Channel, the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS is the quickest-appreciating vehicle in the past decade, at least in the UK. In 2004, prices hovered around 65,000 pounds ($101,350 in current money), but buying one today would set you back over 500,000 pounds ($779,600). Rarer lightweight models go for even more. More than just a solid investment, buyers get what is considered to be the ultimate expression of the early 911. Built as a homologation special for racing, Porsche used the classic tactic of fitting a larger engine to boost power to about 210 horsepower while simultaneously cutting weight. A lower front air dam, extended fenders for wider wheels and ducktail spoiler at the back made sure the grip, aero and styling fit the motorsports attitude. You can get a brief taste of what it's like to drive one of these rare Porsches in the video from The Telegraph below. This one is even for sale, with an ambitious price of around 600,000 pounds ($935,000), and it also features legendary racer Derek Bell's autograph on the ashtray. Hopefully the car's eventual buyer remembers that the RS is a fantastic piece to drive, too, and stretches its legs every once in a while. 2015 Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival
Thu, Aug 13 2015Considered the big kick off of the major festivities surrounding Monterey Car Week, this year's Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival certainly didn't disappoint. For those unable to make it to the California coast, our own Drew Phillips was on hand to snap some of the beautiful vehicles on display for this gorgeous gallery. Held annually at the Monterey Jet Center, the event is always a feast for the eyes by collecting planes, a gang of exotic supercars, and some the top cars crossing the auction block over the coming days, like a Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda convertible. The Ford GT both new and old was a major attendee at this year's party. Among them, the Petersen Museum brought along an original racecar and a GT40 MKIII to promote an upcoming exhibit. The classics were complimented by the latest version that has continued to keep tongues wagging. The GT wasn't the only classic with a modern update there. Singer used the posh event for the North American debut of its stunning restoration of the Porsche 911 Targa. Shelby American was also at the revival for the public unveiling of the 50th Anniversary Daytona Coupe. On the more modern front, Honda was in attendance with the future NSX and one of the McLaren F1 cars that the company's engine powers. For further proof of the ritzy folks that attend this soiree, Pagani and Koenigsegg both had stands to show off their extremely quick wares.
