1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet Convertible Triple Black Excellent History on 2040-cars
Fallston, Maryland, United States
Up for Auction is a very nice 1990 Porsche S2 Cabriolet
Triple Black with 105,640 miles 3.0 liter 16 valve 4 cylinder, 5 speed ABS, Driver and Passenger Airbags Originally purchased at Len Stoler Porsche here in Baltimore in December of 1989. Traded in 2000 with 50,000 miles and resold at Valley Motors Porsche. I purchased the car from the second owner as a private sale in February of 2009 with 102,000 miles as a backup car for the family. I had a full service and review performed at that time and the car was deemed in excellent condition with no prior body damage. The front was repainted and disclosed by the dealer in 2000. The car was garage kept by both owners and I have extensive documentation on the car (which I am rummaging through files looking for.) The car passed the extensive Maryland inspection and emissions less than 4,000 miles ago in 2009. The timing belt was changed at 92,000 miles. I replaced all tires with Continentals in 2009 as well as a new top and replacement of the lower seat leather (getting stiff and stitching coming undone.) I have kept the car fully serviced and have had some minor electrical work done (fix fog lights and rewire stereo which previous aftermarket unit was drawing on the system.) Replaced the brakes in 2009. Car is serviced at least 2x a year by my mechanic and is only used in good weather. There is an Alpine head unit as shown in the pictures that has a USB input as well as Sirius receiver integrated and installed in the head unit. I replaced the windshield and repainted the front end after a branch fell and dented the passenger fender and cracked the windshield. All body panels are, to the best of my knowledge, original to the car. I did file an insurance claim at that time and will most likely show up in history. I have not checked to see. Work was done to a very high standard. Taken out of winter storage and driven 200 miles this past week. The car drives strong and has a solid clutch. Shifts very well. No leaks. I average 27-28 mpg in spirited driving Oil pressure is excellent and the temp gauge never passes the 1st quarter of the range. Air Conditioning works well Power top is fully functional and the original fitted boot is in the trunk. Cruise, Pwr Windows, Locks and Pwr Seat Height all work as they should. Dash has no cracks and Lloyd mats are in excellent condition. Only issues that I am aware of are the interior overhead light does not go on when the door is opened, the clock in the dash is broken (common problem), the struts for the trunk should be replaced as they are original and do not "pop up" when you press the electric release, which does work, however, the key works fine. There is some minor curb rash on the wheels and a couple of minor dings. This is a good driver quality car that has been very reliable and more practical than I every thought. My kids are now at an age where they don't fit in the back and would rather not be seen with Mom and Dad anyway so we are going to spend more time running my 280SL. If I could demand that a PPI inspection be done, I would, but I cannot. I do greatly encourage inspections. Please ask questions, I will do my best to get back to you. I will not answer questions about the reserve. Make me an offer if you like. Car is sold AS-IS WHERE-IS with no warranties expressed or implied. I am located a little north of Baltimore, MD. Shipping and pick up is the responsibility of buyer but I will do my very best to accommodate you. Deposit of $500 is due with in 24 hours of auction end. Balance my be received before title and car are released. Thanks for looking! |

Autoblog Minute: UAW and FCA avoid strike, Clarkson teases new show
Fri, Oct 9 2015FCA avoids a worker strike, a former Top Gear host teases us with a picture from Amazon's new car show, and Toyota predicts autonomous cars by 2020. Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] FCA avoids a worker strike, a former Top Gear host teases us with a picture from Amazon's new car show, and Toyota predicts autonomous cars by 2020. I'm senior editor Greg Migliore and this is your Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. A UAW strike of FCA was avoided thanks to a zero-hour tentative agreement reached this week. Worker concerns that were renegotiated in the new [00:00:30] deal include adjustments to the two-tier wage scale, health care costs, and production outsourcing. Now check-in with Autoblog as we update our reports on this evolving story. Shooting began on Amazon Prime's new automotive show starring the former Top Gear crew. That's Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. Now Clarkson threw out a tweet from day one of filming on location at Algarve Motor Park in Portugal. The picture features the show's [00:01:00] three stars and crew posing with the holy trinity of hyper cars. That's a McLaren P1, a Ferrari LaFerrari, and a Porsche 918 Spyder. This Prime show is being called Gear Knobs though the name is unofficial. Now if a tweet is any indication of what we can expect, who cares what it's called this is gonna be awesome. (Eds Note: Clarkson tweeted Friday that the show will not be called Gear Knobs.) Toyota predicts drivers could be obsolete on highways as early as 2020, with technology dubbed the Toyota Highway Teammate or THT. Toyota is using a modified [00:01:30] Lexus GS to show what this is capable of. THT is already able to create a driverless freeway car that's capable of changing lanes, making passes and taking curves. Plus, it can keep safe distances from other vehicles. Toyota is currently testing this on Tokyo's Shuto Expressway. Those are the highlights from the week that was. Be sure to check out my full recap this Saturday. And I'll have some added insight on the BMW M4 GTS. For Autoblog, I'm Greg Migliore. [00:02:00] Show Logo Autoblog Minute is a short-form video news series reporting on all things automotive. Porsche offers design walkthrough of Panamera Sport Turismo
Thu, 03 Jan 2013The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo was arguably the best concept car of 2012, and Porsche has been building upon that momentum by teasing us with videos of its first-ever station wagon design. After showing us some driving shots of the Sport Turismo, Porsche released a more in-depth and behind-the-scenes look at what it took to take the Panamera shooting brake from a full-scale clay model to the final product we saw on stage at the Paris Motor Show. In the video, Michael Mauer, Porsche style director, and Mitja Borkert, general manager advanced design style, both give a little insight about what went into creating the Sport Turismo Concept.
More than just a station wagon version of the Panamera, the Sport Turismo has a totally distinctive look nose to tail. Some of the key elements the designers touch on in the video include the Porsche-signature raised front fenders, the wide rear shoulders, the front wing inspired by the 918 Spyder, and even some of the car's unique touches, including the headlights and the three-dimensional "Porsche" lettering across the liftgate made from glass. One of the more exciting aspects of the concept - which is sadly just glossed over in the video - is the rear liftgate spoiler that features "variable aerodynamics" that sounds like it acts similar to the retractable spoiler on the current Panamera.
We still don't know if the Panamera Sport Turismo will make it into production, but if you want to see what went into creating this exciting concept car and see the different build phases designers went through to create the Paris show car, check out the video by scrolling below.
Porsche still deciding on one or two new 911 plug-in hybrids
Tue, May 29 2018Back in March, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume told Autocar that the coming Porsche 911 plug-in hybrid "will be the most powerful 911 we've ever had." That quote portended a 992-series 911 with 700 horsepower or more. A new report in Auto Express, however, suggests Porsche is having energetic debates about just what the 911's hybrid strategy will be, and that the only agreed-upon plug-in hybrid 911 so far is a milder version to sit in the middle of the range. Putting all our rumors in a row, in January, Automobile reported on an electrically-assisted 911 with 485 hp and 561 pound-feet of torque. The new AE piece effectively endorses that, saying the mid-range hybrid would follow the program established by the all-wheel drive Cayenne e-Hybrid that produces a combined 455 hp and 516 lb-ft. The 911 would naturally use a flat-six instead of the Cayenne's 3.0-liter V6, and the sports car would be tuned for better sound response and sharper reflexes. AE says fuel economy for this hybrid should be at least 80 eMPG, with emissions of less than 80 grams per kilometer. The current base Carrera is currently rated at a maximum 38.2 mpg in the UK, with minimum emissions of 169 g/km. The hybrid, fitted with a double-clutch gearbox and Porsche's mechanical all-wheel-drive system, could run from a stop to 62 miles per hour in less than four seconds, making it more efficient than a base Carrera and much faster than a Carrera 4S. AE says there remains only "the potential for Porsche to add a second, more powerful hybrid 911," and says its sources claim that's what's "causing the most consternation behind closed doors." This one would be the twin-turbocharged, 700-hp beastie that, as a series production car, would have a hard time not usurping the 540-hp Turbo, 580-hp Turbo S, and 607-hp Turbo S Exclusive. True, the hybrid would be handicapped with a 550-pound battery pack, but the instant acceleration and handling benefits of electric AWD — with no connection between the axles — could provide the final edge over the other three. As such, it makes sense that there'd be a whole lot of debate about a flagship 911 hybrid. On the other hand, such a monster seems like an eventuality in view of Porsche's electrified aspirations, the lessons gained from the 918 Hybrid and the 919 Hybrid Le Mans racer, and the fact that CEO Blume has already spoken. The Stuttgart carmaker expects a sales mix of 25 percent electric, 25 percent hybrid, and 50 percent conventional powertrains by 2025.
