1989 Porsche 944 Turbo Great Driver! on 2040-cars
Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, United States
1989 Porsche 944 Turbo Up for sale is my 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo. The car is finished in rare Glacier Blue Metallic and has Marine Blue leather interior. The mileage reads 194,500 and will go up as I drive it on the weekends. The vin number is WP0AA2955KN151241. If you know 944 Turbo cars then you know all 1989 models have the Turbo S options as standard for the 1989 model year. The car has a clean title. Condition: The paint is a 6/10, it was repainted and was not a great job. The car could use a re spray to look mint again. The interior is a 7/10. The passenger front fender has paint bubbles. The nose by the emblem was dented at some point and was repaired. There is some surface rust on the outside of the lower rockers (see picture). The dash is cracked pretty good which is common on these cars. The driver seat bolster has a gouge out of the leather. The wheels need to be refinished. The A/C works but does not blow cold. This car is 100% original and stock, no modifications. The timing belt, water pump, rollers, etc. were replaced within the last year. The camshaft cover gasket (valve cover gasket) was just replaced. The clutch is strong and grabs fine. The car pulls great, no smoke ever and turbo boosts very strong. I have been running Liqi Moly 0W40 Synthetic oil in the car and it seems to keep the oil temps a bit cooler. The tires are in great shape, and had a complete tune up recently. I know the mileage is high, and no the car is not a 30K garage queen. This car is a 100% driver and will go anywhere you want it to. Porsche only sent 1385 944 Turbo models to the US in 1989. I do not have to go on about how hard these cars are to find. This car would make a great weekend track car, show car, or daily driver. You will not find a better combo of handling and power for the price. All late model 944 models, (Turbo, Turbo S, S2, Cabs) are all going up in value. Only serious inquiries. I have many more pictures available call or text me at 908-797-2669. |

Porsche reportedly working on new turbocharged flat-four boxer engine?
Wed, 10 Apr 2013These days, we've seen just about every automaker dropping cylinders in an effort to appease tightening fuel economy and emission standards - and Porsche is no exception. Nearly three years after introducing an all-new V6 powerplant under the front hood of its Panamera sedan (launched with a range of V8 engines) comes word that Porsche is working on an all-new turbocharged flat-four boxer to replace the flat-six engines mid-mounted in its Cayman and Boxster models.
Specifics have yet to be learned, but reports say the engine is a derivative of the current 3.8-liter six (shown above) found under the rear decklid of the Carrera S, yet with two fewer cylinders. Fitted with a turbocharger, direct-injection and the automaker's VarioCam Plus, the new all-aluminum 2.5-liter flat-four will likely develop upwards of 350 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque. Redline should be about 7,500 rpm. Initial indications say that Porsche will only offer the new engine with its seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic, tuned to take advantage of the low-end torque, but a traditional six-speed manual gearbox has not been ruled out. Despite the loss of two cylinders, enthusiasts will likely embrace the new engine as it promises to be lighter, more fuel efficient and more powerful than the 2.7-liter and 3.4-liter sixes in the Cayman/Boxster today.
Even though Porsche has been using Volkswagen Group engines for years (e.g., Cayenne V6, Cayenne Diesel and upcoming Macan), all indications are that the new flat-four will not be shared. Instead, it will be kept in-house for the automaker's sports cars and possible future fitment in an entry-level 911.

Evo makes the case for the world's best driving road in Majorca
Tue, 05 Aug 2014What good is a sports car if you haven't got a great place to drive it? It's a common refrain that we've heard time and time again. But few are as familiar with the problem as they are in the UK, where the number of people, cars on the road and traffic cameras keep growing to conspire against the joy of driving. Leave it to Evo, then, to depart in search of the greatest driving road in the world.
It's a pursuit that's taken the British car mag across Europe, most recently to Romania's Carpathian Mountains where it added the Transalpina Pass to its short list. But its latest journey has taken Evo to the Spanish island of Majorca, where Henry Catchpole found not one, but two spectacular driving roads from behind the wheel of the new Porsche Boxster GTS. We could drone on about the smooth, empty ribbons of twisting tarmac with excellent visibility and panoramic vistas... but you really want to see the video for yourself. Don't miss Evo's previous trip to Romania in the Jaguar F-Type, which we've included below, as well.
