This is a stock 1989 944 S2 with 79,808 original miles. This car is in great shape inside and out. All service records have been saved. Timing belt, water pump and clutch replaced at 69,000mi. Tires are in excellent shape and are Michelin primacy. The car comes with adjustable Koni front suspension, new rear shocks. New fuel line , hose, fuel pump and filter. K&N air filter, Radiator hose replaced. New ignition wires, spark plugs and distributer. Transmission fluid changed, CAM CHAIN TENSIONER PADS REPLACED (this is very important). Dansk Stainless exhaust with new high flow catalytic converter (nice upgrade to OEM exhaust sounds great, not obnoxious). New front high performance brakes and rotors. Coverking car cover included. Everything in the car works except you cannot open the hatch back using the key, but the switch in the front opens it just fine. I just never took the time to replace the microswitch in the back. It is a simple and cheap fix. The car runs extremely smooth. It does not burn or leak oil. It amazes me how clean the oil is on the dipstick! It has the original Blaupunkt stereo. AC works great and the compressor has been replaced. The car likley had a front passanger fender bender because the bumper and hood are not in perfect alignment. It can be fixed, but it really is not that noticable. I just want to disclose everything up front so there are no unwanted surprises. The car was repainted in 2005. It is a very nice job. I bought the car as a play toy, but I have way to many toys!

Porsche would have entered F1 if Audi had blocked its Le Mans program

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

Go back a few years and you may have heard rumors of Porsche heading into Formula One. That never came to pass - or at least, it hasn't yet - but that doesn't mean that it wasn't close to happening. That's how committed to returning to top-level motorsport competition Porsche has become recently.
Autosport reports that just as Porsche was merging fully into the Volkswagen Group, Zuffenhausen was weighing its options for a factory racing program. Le Mans was its favorite, which makes sense, as it remains far and away the most successful constructor in the history of the famous endurance race. But the strategists at Porsche were worried that its new corporate overlords at Volkswagen wouldn't support two LMP1 programs and would favor Audi, which has positively dominated the modern era of endurance racing, coming second only to Porsche in the number of Le Mans victories it has scored to date.
Porsche's Plan B was reportedly to head into Formula One, although it isn't clear if the German automaker was intent on starting its own team, buying an existing one or merely providing engines to other teams. Porsche fielded its own cars in F1 in the late 1950s and early 60s, and returned as an engine supplier with TAG to power McLaren in the 1980s, powering Niki Lauda and Alain Prost to the World Championship in 1984 and 1985.

Porsche names new motorsport chief

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

Though it may have expanded into crossovers and sedans, Porsche is still a company with racing at its heart. You might even argue that Cayenne and Panamera sales only serve to fund the company's motorsports activities. Competition-spec 911 coupes still make up a large portion of the grid in any GT racing series, and those activities are presided over by the Porsche GT division (separate from its LMP1 program), which has just announced a changing of the guard.
Porsche's GT unit - which is responsible both for racing models like the 911 RSR and road-going models like the 911 GT3 - has until now been steered by Hartmut Kristen (pictured above, left) in his capacity as Vice President of Motorsport at Porsche AG. During his ten-year tenure, Kristen gave birth to the RS Spyder that competed in the American Le Mans Series and the pioneering 911 GT3 R Hybrid. He also fostered what Porsche characterizes as "arguably the most comprehensive youth development program in motor racing" and saw the marque return to Le Mans last year with a dominant 1-2 class victory.
Kristen, now 59 years old, is leaving the German automaker, but will remain an advisor to the company's R&D department. Taking over as VP of Motorsport will be Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, who has until now been head of the 918 Spyder project (a responsibility he will continue). Walliser (pictured above, right) was previously Porsche's general manager for motorsport strategies and will now be responsible for Porsche's GT projects on and off the track, while Fritz Enzinger continues at the helm of the LMP1 program in pursuit of better results next year than the 919 Hybrid achieved at Le Mans last month.
