1989 - Porsche 944 on 2040-cars
Cragsmoor, New York, United States
1989 PORSCHE 944S2 27,117 original documented miles I'm the second owner and have owned this car for 22 years. The car has never seen rain and has always been stored in a climate controlled garage. It was only driven in nice weather and has only been parked in the sun once each of the last four summers. My daughter decided to enter it in a few car shows. The car has won it's class. (3) 1st place and (1) second place for each of the four years entered. The class was Original 1969 to 1994 foreign sports car. This past summer it was in the top three for Best Of Show foreign and domestic, in a show of 400 cars. The condition of this car is amazing, everyone that looks at it swears that its new. The interior looks and smells like a new car, theres not a single issue or flaw within. All controls, buttons and systems work perfect, AC could probally use a charge. Everything is original on this car right down to the air in the tires. I've always done my own maintenance and oil changes. Cars exterior shows very well, NO dents scraps or scratches anywhere. There is however a few paint chips on front of car, the worst is shown in the pictures. This car is part of a collection and needs to be driven and enjoyed by someone. I had a state inspection done in September, that it passed without any concerns. Only thing reported was a minor oil leak from back of engine, it only drips a couple of times after being driven then stops. It dosen't seem to be an issue while driving or after its been parked for a time. Porsche service tech recommened that i drive the vehicle more often, and most likely it would stop all together. I managed 200 miles this past summer, but not nearly enough. I would be glad to answer any and all questions about car. All i ask is that your serious about purchasing the car. If you know about these cars then you will realize how special and rare the S2s are.

Porsche announces works team for United Sportscar Championship
Tue, 24 Sep 2013Porsche is undoubtedly the most successful manufacturer in sportscar racing, and it's only upping its game. The German marque is launching its new LMP1 racer for Le Mans in pursuit of overall victory once again, and now that sportscar racing in North America is coming together under one banner in the United Sportscar Championship, Porsche has announced it is entering the fray with a works team here as well.
The new Porsche North America racing team will field two cars in the entire inaugural season of the Tudor United Sportscar Championship that's been formed out of the former Grand-Am and American Le Mans Series. The team will be based out of the Porsche Motorsport North America facility in Santa Ana, California, and will partner with three-time ALMS LMPC winners Core Autosport in getting a pair of the latest 911 RSR racecars to the front of the GT Le Mans class.
Drivers have yet to be announced, but are projected to be drawn out of Porsche's factory driver program, which includes such talents as Patrick Long, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Neel Jani. Keep reading below for the official announcement.
Porsche offering new tire option for Carrera GT
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Let's face it: finding new tires for older cars can be challenging if tire manufacturers have stopped carrying the right sizes (this writer went through Hell to find a set of 205/60-13s). But what about tires for low-volume supercars, which use sizes that often won't fit on high-volume production vehicles? The Porsche Carrera GT isn't that old and tires are still available in the correct sizes, but the German automaker has shown its support of keeping them on the road by working with Michelin to give owners yet another tire option. Enter the Carrera GT-specific Pilot Super Sport.
It's common knowledge that tires are one of the most important pieces of the performance puzzle, and Porsche claims that the PSS tires, sized 265/35ZR-19 front and 335/30ZR-20 with Porsche's "N0" rating, will improve the Carrera GT's handling and stability all the way up to its claimed top speed of 205 miles per hour. That's important for a car with razor-sharp handling characteristics. They'll also net drivers a 10-percent increase in fuel economy on regular roads and up to 20 percent on racetracks, Porsche says.
The PSSs use cutting-edge tire technology to harness the Carrera GT's 610-horsepower. They have a dual-compound tread that's different from the inside of the tire to the outside, which, Porsche says, helps steering precision and increases maximum grip. Aramid fibers, which are lightweight but just as strong as steel, are used in the tire's belt to reduce unsprung weight.
