For sale is my beautiful Porsche 944 Turbo. It holds a clean title with no accidents. It has a completely stock engine. The body is in great condition; original batwing and under tray are in excellent shape. It has been repainted to its original (Kalahari Beige Metallic LA1Y) paint. It comes with the stock Phone Dial rims, staggered set 7x16 front and 8x16 rears. It's also equipped with Koni Sport Suspension (M474 option code).

The car recently received a refresh on the engine vacuum lines, hoses, timing and balance belts.
Engine has a steady idle and runs well under boost. It does have a slight exhaust leak that i never got the chance of fixing. There is also some rattling from the exhaust that i haven't pinpointed yet. I speculate that a hanger from the exhaust came off its grommet. The rattling is only noticeable in certain rpms and sometimes its absent.
Clutch feels good and is not slipping. The car brakes well: Brake lines were recently flushed and new fluid was put in.

I rate the interior 8/10: driver's side seat has some tears, passenger is in good condition. There are some cracks on the dash but it has a dash cover on. All electrical components work; gauges, digital clock. It also comes with a Kenwood 6 disc changer (not sure if this was stock or previous owner installed it). Rear cargo carpet has two speaker holes where the previous owner installed 6x9" speakers. You could easily put your own speakers or buy a carpet cover for it. Sunroof works as it should.

It has up to date CA registration. It also passed smog, so no need to smog for another two years if you live in Ca.
All documents dating from 1995. Only 3 owner car.

This car looks good and drives well but it is not perfect. It is a used car that has endured wear and tear for 28 years.

If you are out of state, you must arrange your own shipping.

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.

Porsche Macan caught completely uncovered

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

Porsche is preparing to launch its sub-Cayenne CUV, with a suspected debut at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which means we're right about at the point where undisguised models start scampering around the cities and towns of Germany. Our spy photographers snagged just such a model, with only the headlights and taillights concealed by camouflage (no, those comically large lamps aren't a production item).
The undisguised car looks like a tiny Cayenne. Not really surprising, we know, but it's impressive to see how the Cayenne's styling works with the smaller proportions of the Macan. It looks squat, athletic and poised, like it's a small, "sporty" crossover we'd actually want to drive. Both the Macan and the Macan Turbo are shown, with the more powerful model sporting a set of quad exhausts.
The only big questions now concern the shape of the lights and the interior. From the photos, we can see a rough outline of the headlights, although the taillights are more difficult to discern. The interior remains a mystery.

Porsche wants you to 3D print your own Cayman

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Have you got access to a 3D printer? Well lucky you, because as we're rapidly learning, the possibilities are virtually endless. And if your tastes lean towards the automotive (as we'd assume they do if you're reading this page), we've got good news.
Porsche has just released 3D printing data for the Cayman S so you can three-dimensionally print out your own and customize to your heart's content. Now Porsche hasn't specified just to what scale the data will allow you to print your Cayman, but we have a feeling that'd mostly be limited by the size of the printer at your disposal. Check it out in the video below and follow the link to the Porsche site to download the file.
